Most tow balls are either 1 7/8 inches or 2 inches in diameter, but there are a few other sizes that are used on occasion. The size that you need will be determined by the trailer coupler that you are using. If you have a trailer with a coupler that is designed for a 2-inch ball, then you will need to use a 2-inch ball.
Yes, too much tongue weight can cause trailer sway. This is because the tongue is the part of the trailer that is attached to the hitch, and it is responsible for bearing the weight of the trailer. If the tongue weight is too heavy, it can cause the trailer to sway back and forth, making it difficult to control.
Yes, you can use a 1-inch and 7/8-inch ball for a 2-inch hitch. The 1-inch ball will fit into the 2-inch hitch receiver and the 7/8-inch ball will fit into the 1-inch hitch receiver.
There are a few things to consider when choosing a ball hitch. The first is the weight capacity. Make sure the ball hitch can handle the weight of your trailer. The second is the tongue weight. This is the weight of the trailer tongue that rests on the ball. Make sure the ball hitch can handle this weight as well. The third is the shank size. This is the diameter of the ball hitch. Make sure the shank size is compatible with your trailer hitch.

Shiny, oh my! This trailer ball is in fact brilliant chrome, despite the dreary appearance in the Amazon image.A trailer ball, that is. With your pipe wrench and large crescent wrench, you bolt it onto your drawbar and then attach your trailer. It's quite difficult to make a mistake as long as you purchased the right ball (exact size shank and ball).I'm a bit worried because I'm new to the whole trailer situation that someone would unhook the ball with my trailer attached to it, bolt it to their own drawbar, and drive away with my trailer. Maybe it's harder than I think, but if you're worried about the same thing, you might want to think about a drawbar made in the Euro manner, which has the ball firmly welded on.

How can one say, "I adore it," about a trailer ball? It just seems strange, but given how slanted the rating system is, I'll follow the trend. This trailer ball is flawless in every way; the fit and polish are flawless. I have purchased hitches and other related items over the years, and I have never hesitated to purchase anything bearing the Curt brand. As far as trailer balls go, it's fantastic; perhaps you'll adore yours as well. I'm unsure.

I'll be honest; when I originally ordered it, I was a little reluctant. I was concerned since I had never used an interchangeable ball system before and that the trailer and ball would end up bouncing down the road in the opposite direction from me. No such issues exist here. I've had no issues using it after pulling a few loads. The shaft is lightly greased before use, and I haven't encountered any problems while removing the ball at the conclusion of a tow. The entire system disassembles easily to fit in a compartment under the seat of my truck, so hopefully rust won't be an issue. I can't speak about pulling heavy farm equipment because the biggest thing I haul is a 32' camper, but it works great for what I use it for.

I bought this with a Curt 45023 ball mount to use with a 5' x 8' trailer I got from the neighborhood hardware store. The 2013 WRX sedan is designed for this arrangement. It is really strong. Fortunately, the width of my two crescent wrenches was just right to prevent the ball from spinning as I tightened the bottom nut.I recently returned with the trailer, and it was absolutely sturdy. So far, everything seems to be going smoothly. It's a substantial product with the Curt mount. If I need to use the trailer, I keep it in the trunk of my car, but I was pleased with the pricing given how sturdy both the mount and the ball are. Highly suggested.

Easy installation and a sturdy trailer ball. Despite towing a trailer around for a weekend, it still looks fantastic. The durability of the finish will be tested over time, but that is unrelated to the trailer ball's purpose. It was a sufficiently long thread for my Curt ball mount. The only addition would have been a castle nut and cotter pin to guarantee that the nut didn't back out, however carrying a trailer wrench and double-checking your equipment before a tow may easily fix this.

All you could possibly desire from a trailer hitch ball. When mounted on a Curt trailer hitch ball mount, the component is precisely fitted with barely any play. I can't vouch for the hitch mount fitment of other brands. The hitch ball mount and this item were bought simultaneously, and the combined weight was too much for the cardboard box used for shipment, shattering the factory-glued seam. During shipping, this item—the ball—fell out of the package. Amazon sent out a replacement right away. Both the goods and Amazon get five stars. It is a 1 7/8-inch bolt.

I enjoy the product, but I don't think it was brand-new. I needed to utilise it that day and didn't have time to play around with a return despite the scratched surface. What mattered was that everything worked flawlessly.
If you're not sure whether you have a Class III or IV hitch, measure the inside width of the hitch's receiver tube. If it's 2 inches wide, it's a Class III; if it's 2-1/2 inches wide, it's a Class IV.
There are a few things you need to know in order to select the correct size hitch ball. First, you need to know the weight capacity of your hitch. This information can be found in your vehicle's owner's manual or on the hitch itself. Second, you need to know the diameter of the trailer coupler. This information can also be found in your vehicle's owner's manual or on the trailer coupler itself. Finally, you need to know the length of the shank. This information can be found on the hitch ball itself. Once you have this information, you can use
There are four different size ball hitches: 1 7/8 inches, 2 inches, 2 5/16 inches, and 3 inches.
The 2 5/16 ball can pull up to 12,000 pounds.
A 2-inch ball can pull up to 50 pounds of weight. However, the amount of weight it can pull depends on the type of ball and the material it is made of.
There is no definitive answer to this question, as it depends on the weight of the trailer being towed, the weight of the vehicle doing the towing, and the type of hitch being used. However, as a general guideline, the weight on the tow ball should be 10-15% of the total weight of the trailer and its contents.
