I'm very happy I purchased this particular wetsuit. The fit was as predicted; for a suit coat, I measured a 40-inch chest, and the 40-inch chest wet suit size suited nicely. It was neither too loose nor too tight to have chilly areas, which is crucial for climbing rope. My son had to stop his swim lesson at an outdoor pool after two tries because he was shivering terribly. In the hopes that it will keep him warm and allow him to make it through each lesson, I got this wetsuit in size 6. Although he is six years old, he is tall and thin. He could wear size 5 pants, but they would be too short. He is 44 lbs. and 47" tall. I laboriously searched for hints as to which wetsuit would be suitable for his body type and finally decided on this one. In around two to three days, it came! It doesn't exactly fit securely around his waist, but it's also not really baggy or loose. The arm is the ideal length. Although they may be folded, the legs are too lengthy. It was simple to put on him, and the material felt wonderful. Since it is long, I'm glad he should be able to wear it next year.He wore the wetsuit in the same pool and was comfortable and content. He is the kind of child that generally finds something to complain about, therefore the wetsuit must be really comfortable because he did not do so (no seems rubbing on his skin). Although it states it's for women, boys might also wear it without issue. For both of us, the fit and comfort were excellent. I am 5'3" and 113 lbs., whereas my son is 5'8". Since this arrived when old man winter finally arrived, I haven't been out on the water. Right now, I wouldn't really profit from a shorty suit.However, I have "checked it out" for the circumstances I anticipate. I kayak, generally in greenwater but occasionally in whitewater, so getting wet isn't as big of a deal as, say, diving or surfing. Evaporative cooling, however, COULD be a problem, so I looked into that. I had a cold-water-only shower while wearing the suit, then went outdoors to work on my yaks in 40° temperatures with 4-6mph gusts. My chest remained cozy, but my forearms and legs were chilly. This will work for early spring and late fall, but for when the northwinds are blowing, I'm going to acquire a full suit and something heavier.Fit: I'm partially to blame here, as is culture. tight as hell in the shoulders, crotch, and bum, yet loose in the belly and bottom. I will modify my size to order when I get my entire suit, but aside than that, the fit is good. I ordered an XL and am 6'1" and 185 pounds. I will go down a size to tighten the middle, and the remainder shows identical measurements, so I should be good, according to the measuring system.

More of the incredibly flexible neoprene is used in this one. You should really take the plunge and purchase this one even if it costs only a little more. The typical water temps I encounter range from what individuals wearing regular swimsuits consider to be cold to ok water (65-85 degrees).Oh, and nearly forgot, this slightly increases buoyancy. While without a suit I can easily descend to the bottom of a deep pool for a few breath-holding exercises, with this I am unable to do so. When I try to stay below the surface while wearing this suit, I quickly rise to the surface after 5–10 seconds.Maintenance advice: Be sure to RINSE the suit well after using a saltwater or chlorinated pool. Otherwise, the chemicals will start to damage the suit. Let the air dry.Since this is my first suit, I can't imagine ever purchasing another one. The price is ideal, the quality is excellent (although it still needs to be handled carefully because I'm not sure how much abuse it can take before it rips and breaks seams; I don't want to put it to the test), and it withstands everyday use.All I can say is that I have used it three times for a few hours in the water, and so far, it has saved my life.

Although it fits him perfectly overall, it runs small, therefore after this summer it wouldn't. Since my child is just six years old, the size "X-Large 6-8" is too tight in the torso and the legs ride up excessively, giving my child wedgies frequently. My child is approximately 79%ile tall for his age. The neoprene portion of the O'Neill kids wetsuits/springsuits is thinner than we're used to. Keeping shoulders and upper arms warm is more vital to me for my child to not feel as chilly as in a rashguard, hence the arms and shoulder area on this Cressi wetsuit are not made of neoprene. It barely smells. The O'Neill springsuits are much more expensive than this Cressi wetsuit, yet they are more comfortable and fit better than this one. However, considering the price, it's a decent wetsuit for swimming pools and deserves 4 stars; however, if your child is 7 or 8 years old, and of course depending on physical stature of said youngster, consider getting a size bigger.
