I log at least 20 miles of running each week, and I often alternate between multiple pairs of running shoes. I wanted to obtain speed laces for my three new pairs of running shoes that I had purchased. To get a better fit from my running shoes and to prevent dealing with loosened laces while I'm running, I prefer fast laces. I considered using my usual spherical, bungee-style laces, but when I came across these Xpand laces, I fell in love with the flat lace appearance of this system. I ordered three pairs of laces after considering the reviews and deciding to take a chance. They arrived swiftly thanks to Amazon Prime shipping. The laces came in good condition, with all the necessary hardware, and a small piece of paper with a link to the business' website, which has installation instructions. I picked up my running shoes and set to work after finding the instructions to be quite simple.Three pairs of running shoes—the Hoka Clifton 3, Hoka Bondi 4, and Newton Gravity 6—had these laces placed on them. The Hoka Bondi 4s were slightly easier to lace up than the other two pairs of sneakers since they contain eyelets that make the process slightly easier. The lace anchors were quite simple to install, so I did it right away. I chose to leave 1-2" of additional length on each pair of laces for tweaks after feeling how each pair felt, and I then started the installation. I cut the laces, used a lighter to quickly seal the ends, and then attached the end clips. Without taking into account the brief time I spent trying them out on each pair to make sure I had the initial tension exactly right, I was able to lace, adjust, and complete installation of the laces on all three pairs of shoes in under a half-hour.Once you know how the laces operate, I've discovered that altering them is rather simple. I frequently alter a pair of laces to change the tension based on the socks I'm wearing, to account for foot swelling after a run or at night, etc. I've done this during a few runs, and while it takes a little bit longer than the traditional bungee style speed laces I was using before, the difference is fairly minimal. Adjusting the laces is not a problem during a usual run, but I'm not sure I'd want to do so during a race or when trying to break personal records.The color variety is great, and I really like how these laces look on each pair of shoes I've put them in. More importantly, compared to other speed laces, I believe that the tension across the tops of my feet is more evenly distributed with these laces. In contrast to the bungee-style laces, I no longer have hot patches or an unequal amount of tightness on the tops of my feet. Overall, I truly enjoy using the Xpand laces and will keep doing so as long as they are still available. Now without hesitation, I suggest them to other runners.Below, you can see how these laces seem on my Hoka Bondi 4 running shoes after being installed, along with a little additional lace length for changes.

These laces appear to be nicely made and of high quality.The tips and cords on the boots for which I purchased them, however, are simply too big for the eyelets.The points are 0.161 in ", or 4.10 mm in size.Cords are 0193 in number "or 4.91mm. The cords will slightly contract if they are compressed or stretched.The color and layout appeal to me. I need new laces for the pair of boots, but they just won't fit through the metal eyelets.I'm going to retain these and suggest using them with any boot or shoe that doesn't have really tiny eyelets.I'll think of Miscly if I need laces for a different pair of boots.Update: While removing the tags from a new pair of shoes, I snipped the laces. The Misely laces are more effective than the original laces and fit the eyelets perfectly. Another pair was just added to my basket. In the future, Misely will be my first choice go-to brand for all laces.

This "dual-review" compares two different pairs of laces: flat laces (available at this link on Amazon.com) and circular laces (available at this link on Amazon.com). I had recently purchased a pair of dressy dress shoes, but I didn't anticipate the laces to last very long (seems they never do). I purchased two pairs of laces, one round and the other flat, in the hopes that these would perform better. The sneakers' original laces only lasted 44 days. I used one of each of these new laces—flat on the left and round on the right—in lieu of the old laces. On November 23, 2014, that happened. The round pair began to exhibit signs of wear and failure in early May of 2015. 2015-05-31: The circular lace snapped. Only very slight evidence of wear can be seen on the flat pair. This means that the circular lace lasted for 189 days, or around six months and a week.In case I unintentionally pull harder on the right lace, I've replaced both laces with the second from each set, this time putting the flat on the right shoe and the round on the left. When the following lace breaks, I'll update this post. I'm reasonably happy with the circular lace right now. For shoes that are worn every day, a shoelace should last for at least six months (or nearly so). The flat laces are more impressive to me and I think they will last a lot longer (stay tuned). So, for now, four starts for round and five starts for flat.My right shoe's flat shoelace broke on March 9, 2016. On the right shoe, it lasted 283 days. This time, I'll call it a tie because the round lace on the left shoe was on the verge of breaking. I believe I treat my right shoelace more harshly than my left. In terms of predicted lifespan, I still believe the flat laces to be slightly superior to the round pair, but I'm ready to raise my rating of the round pair to five. Both shoelaces are excellent.

When choosing between the 34 inch (4-5 holes) and 39 inch (5-6 holes) widths of laces for my husband's black dress shoes, I struggled. Sure enough, the shorter ones were not quite long enough when I ordered them. I questioned the vendor about taking advantage of their free replacement offer, and they said they would ship the next size over right immediately. The longer ones came through fast and were a wonderful fit. What a fantastic business!If the laces are too firm for you, spend a few seconds coiling, uncoiling, and twisting them. This will soften the stiffness and make the laces easier to enter and tie. Regular use ought to soften them as well.

I like how quickly I could obtain these, especially because I kind of required them on short notice, and they appear like they'll work consistently for the shoes they're needed for. These are the shoelaces to choose from if all you need are some basic ones, and the selection of sizes and colors is lovely.My only issue is that these were about accurate on the screen even though I got the Magic Mint colored ones because I required teal. Despite being identified as Magic Mint on the bag they came in, they online EXACTLY like the Key Lime choice. Eh, they appear lot more like pure pale neon green than...well, minty, more the teal/turquoise type I was needing, I thought as I took them out of the bag. Although I can understand that some discrepancies may occur due to screen settings and other factors, this disparity forced me to double-check the packing and the available color options because it appeared that these were the wrong color. The sticker on the bag states that they aren't, but I'm still unsure whether Key Lime ones were accidentally packed as Magic Mint. I would return them and look for the teal I wanted somewhere else if I didn't need them right away or if they weren't close enough. But they will work. I wish they were the same color as they appeared to be, but it is what it is, and it's not a crazy-extraordinarily significant concern.

I've purchased and used silicon no-tie laces twice (to replace the traditional laces that came with my shoes.)The first pair I tried (and generally liked well enough) was made by a rival (rhymes with Nicky's); they have a similar design but each piece has a "loop" at one end that snaps over a little "hook/button" to keep them in place. I especially enjoyed turning my lace-up tennis shoes into simple "slip-ons," though! However, (with US-12 feet) they didn't last very long for me, and after approximately 5 months of frequent/near daily wear, one by one, they started cracking. (When I crossed my feet at the ankles, they were also incredibly simple to unhook accidently.) I discovered this brand's product as a substitute and chose to give it a try when enough of them started to wear out to the point that I needed to think about a replacement.I haven't quite reached the 5-month mark with these yet (to evaluate the brand's lifespan), but I already prefer this product to the previous one I tried for a number of reasons:1. These appear to be conventional shoelaces at first glance; they even have a subtle "fabric-like" texture on their flat surface, just like a genuine lace would. Additionally, unlike my previous product, you cannot see the "button/hook" in the middle of each silicon lace. As a result, they appear a little "cleaner" and less cluttered.2. By crossing your feet at the ankles or placing one foot on top of the other, these cannot unintentionally "hook."The competitor's product was all the same-length pieces, regardless of which pair of eyelet holes you were lacing. Having graduated lengths in this product I feel contributes to a better fit AND I think, less likely to have over-stretching (by using a longer piece in the upper, wider eyelet holes, and graduated sizes), which makes perfect sense for tennis shoes/sneakers. Additionally, the general fit of my shoe is now a touch more snug (but still not overly tight) than the outcome of the rival because I can use the shorter-length ones closer to my toes.(To compare fit and feel, I am completely lacing my right shoe with the competitor's product and my left shoe with this product.)Once I reach the 5-month mark with no breakage, I will gladly purchase them again (for my other pairs of tennis shoes) to see if they survive any longer for me than the initial product.My only caution or warning is that they required a lot of concentrated effort to get into the eyelet holes of the tennis shoes; I had to use a chopstick with a flat, tapered point to help push them through the narrow eyelet holes of my shoes. It took me about 10 minutes to outfit both shoes with these, but I adore the outcome!

These laces fit well in my ladies' size 8.5 casual Adidas. They appear nice enough that you won't think you're wearing a child's training shoe, and they expand easily when you put your feet into the shoes.Instead of going much smaller, I highly recommend using the lace that is just about the same length as the gap over the tongue of your shoe after you put on your shoes. At first, I used the lace replacements that were smaller than the width of the space between lace holes thinking they should be somewhat tighter (go a tiny bit smaller if lace sizer are in between of course). Since my shoes were brand new and the lace holes weren't worn, they were really difficult to take off, but I take that as an indication that they'll stay in place.The fact that they sort of "stick" to the shoe tongue and prevent it from sliding to the side is an added benefit.I'm really pleased with my purchase, and if I ever need more laces for other shoes, I won't think twice about buying more.

Those who complain that they are too loose or don't fit wide feet have obviously never read the instruction manual that comes with the shoes. To get the fit you want, there are numerous methods to lace these up your shoe. Even that you might need to combine different lacing styles to achieve your optimal fit is suggested in the brochure.
