To achieve the ideal weight for hand stitching, I treble the strands. I adore how this thread resists fraying and tangling. When this thread arrived today, I used it to test it out on my brows because I bought it so I could thread my own eyebrows. It's incredible! This stuff is powerful, wow. I constantly battle a 9" tear in the front seat of my Dodge Ram pickup truck when I scoot in and out. Even using fishing line to mend my lady didn't work. I cannot break this material with my hands or any other means because it is so strong. I honestly hoped to witness the breaking point as I was mending the tear, but it never materialized. I am quite happy with the fix thus far. Just keep in mind that if you are not careful when tugging it tight, this material is so powerful that it might really sever your fingers. Great purchase at this cost, and the spool is enormous.

I have never used #69 thread before, so I have nothing to compare it to and am unable to comment on if it truly is #69 thread like some other reviewers have. I needed to sew 500D Cordura nylon for a project, and #69 thread was suggested. I intentionally bought this since I knew I would have to buy in a bigger number than I would need, so I shopped around for the best deal.Here is what I've learned. I was using a size 16/100 needle and a Janome home sewing machine to sew 500D Cordura Nylon with 12 oz. denim. Three strands are twisted together to form the thread. Unless you use VERY sharp scissors, the strands desire to unravel as you cut them. This can make threading needles difficult. Have your seam ripper on available because the thread is quite strong and you won't be able to "unsew" by tugging seams apart. When a thread passes through the needle's eye, it can occasionally "fuzz," and if the machine wasn't jammed when you observed it, it will continue to do so unless you cut the thread and rethread the needle. The thread needs a MUCH higher tension setting than usual; try it on some scrap material and make the necessary adjustments before getting started. I don't think my machine has a problem; I think it's a thread issue. I couldn't sew a tight zig zag (about one stitch length) without the machine getting stuck and creating a nest for birds on the underside. Wider zigzags (approximately 2 1/2) were acceptable.That's how I've found it. Would I repurchase this? I just did because a new project called for another color. Because I don't know any better and have no prior experience with the #69 thread to compare it to, I'm giving it five stars.

I have used this excellent thread on my outdoor umbrella because the spokes occasionally come undone and it is robust and durable. Sometimes the thread and spokes on my outside eight-foot umbrella come undone when the wind pushes it over, which is when this thread or hemming pants or dresses comes in helpful.

This is not a "thread," more like a thin monofilament fishing line. Although it is sturdy and should work well for bead necklaces and bracelets, it is too stiff to use on the majority of materials. Unfortunately, this product is not appropriate for my need for a thread to sew beads onto fabric.
