It is possible to put too much bacteria in a septic tank. This can happen if the tank is overloaded with sewage or if the wrong kind of bacteria is introduced into the tank. Too much bacteria can cause the septic tank to malfunction and may even lead to sewage backup in the home.
Yes, you can use Dawn dish soap with a septic system. Dish soap is designed to break up grease and dirt, and it will not clog your septic system.
While many laundry pods are advertised as being safe for septic tanks, it's always best to check with your septic tank professional to be sure. Some laundry pods contain ingredients that can cause problems for septic tanks, such as bleach. If you do use laundry pods, be sure to spread out their use throughout the week to avoid overloading your septic tank.
Septic tanks are a common way to treat wastewater in rural areas where there is no connection to a central sewer system. The tanks are usually buried underground and have a network of pipes that allow wastewater to seep into the ground, where it is treated by bacteria. Adding vinegar to a septic tank can help to break down waste and speed up the treatment process. The acidity of vinegar can also help to control odors.

In March 2017, I made the purchase of a lake cottage that runs on septic. It is an ancient system, and nobody understood anything about it outside the general consensus that it must be quite ancient and that it is fortunate that we are on relatively sandy soil. I calculated the cost of a new system before moving on to buy the home.I had no prior knowledge of septic systems, so I had no idea what to anticipate. That first summer, we experienced moist spots around the holding tanks during periods of high consumption. Very bad. One relative's expression as she realized what that damp area almost probably was was particularly noteworthy.I therefore spent some time online looking for activities that would be beneficial. I discovered Green Gobbler in this manner. I didn't have high expectations, but every time I thought about how much replacing the system would cost, it spurred me to try anything to put off the cost of a new system for a little while longer. As directed on the product's packaging, I started using it once a month. The outcomes? Even during times of high usage, there are no longer any moist spots. It has truly been amazing. Am I satisfied? Yes, every day that passes without me having to visit my banker to discuss financing a new septic system is a happy day.

Adding beneficial bacteria to the septic tank in order to achieve/maintain a good ratio of beneficial microbes to solids/paper/grease is the plain and straightforward science and rationale behind the use of this product.A few contributing elements need to be taken into consideration, such as the system's age and condition right now, the size and lifestyle of the household, the frequency of pump-outs, the system's capacity and design, and the capability to properly examine the system. When these factors are taken into account, it is simple to see that, for example, a smaller family with good habits and a robust system won't likely need to use such a product, whereas a larger family with bad habits and an older, less-than-optimally sized system will probably need to (or, rather, SHOULD) 1) pump much more frequently and 2) boost/maintain good microbe levels by using Rid X or similar product. If used as advised and in conjunction with good habits, it will function well in situations where a larger beneficial microbe count is required. If so, it will provide the bacteria required to break down sediments and grease at the best pace and lessen or completely eradicate the odors brought on by a low microbe population. Rid X is not a panacea that can mend your poor habits or your malfunctioning/overworked system. The inspector must have extensive knowledge gained from experience, be honest in his advice, and have a thorough understanding of the system in question for it to be a proper, impartial inspection. Every element must be considered.Again, assuming all other considerations are taken into account, common sense says that occasionally a simple sniff test might help make an informed judgment regarding whether Rid X is required. If your system is emitting unpleasant odors, it's likely that your beneficial microbe population is low for any reason, and adding Rid X will improve system performance. In this way, the Rid X claim that it "prevents septic backup" is accurate—but only in relation to your particular circumstance. It's also smart to adopt good habits like sticking to one-ply septic-safe paper and avoiding antibacterial soaps, chlorine, and other harsh chemicals. For my home, using Rid X once a month is extremely effective; it unquestionably gets rid of odors that develop without it and has, over time, visibly cleansed the main line going to the tank, which now has a very clean appearance (though 50 years old).Obviously, a healthy beneficial microbe count will be easier to obtain and maintain if and when my children go, and there are less laundry loads, dishes, and bleach being used, possibly removing the necessity for its use.For the time being, I utilize Rid X and similar treatments to give my system the extra helpful microorganisms it needs as a result of our predicament and pump the system a little more frequently. The basic, fundamental ideas listed above are not an exhaustive, all-inclusive explanation.I hope that this may assist someone decide whether or not to buy this product.

I have never purchased anything from Obsession Products before. The item I ordered is a workhorse item that is essential for our septic systems—it is neither fancy or trendy. On my own property, I have long maintained septic tanks (our home has two). Since I've been using live bacteria, I've seen how well the tanks are kept clean by lowering the sediments and sludge, which has resulted in less calls to the pumper. The last product I used was a loose concoction of germs that I scooped out and flushed into the septic tank in the toilet. They quickly fall out of a scoop, so it was messy. Since there were so many of the thousands of smaller-than-a-grain-of-sand bacteria that float in toilet water, it typically required multiple water flushes to thoroughly flush them down.Obsession Products offered the septic tank treatment in convenient packs. There is no scooping, no spilling, and it flushes down without using any water. The shipping was prompt, and I will use them again for future orders.

I've used different products in the past than Rid X in my system. But my vacuum guy gave me this product the last time I had my septic system cleaned out. I used to have to pour half a box of Rid X into the toilet and flush it several times to get it into my system before switching to Green Pig. I got one out on average every four years, using it every two months. The last time I utilized Green Pig, we were able to survive for 5 years even after we welcomed a new family member (a brother). The only reason I phoned to have the system pumped out was because I was concerned that it would be full and I didn't want to endanger my drain pipes. My vacuum technician said that I probably had another year or so when they arrived to pump it out and that the tank was primarily sludge and not compacted. The fact that this medication is packaged in a water-soluble packet that dissolves after being flushed is something I really like. No more filling the box to the brim or stashing half-empty boxes in the laundry room or under my sink. Because it is so much simpler and the small packets made me doubt if there would be enough bacteria to eat away the waste, I usually use this product as advised every month. I am lot more assured now that I have seen the results and don't have to worry about the pets or kids getting into the box.I will keep suing this product because I still stand behind it. I heartily endorse it.

I've bought a lot of things over the years that make all kinds of promises but never live up to my hopes or expectations. For the past 40 years or so, I've relied on septic systems and have experienced ongoing issues. RID-X should be used, but despite repeated advice, I never did. None of the truly costly items I've bought, the yeast I've used, or other home brews that I've tried have produced a respectable outcome.Just for the ease of not having to go to the store and the worry-free monthly dose that arrives at my doorstep, I signed up for the RID-X monthly subscription from Amazon. I believe this to be my best investment to date. My field lines are now covered with lush green grass thanks to the RID-line X's cleaning. Those of you with gravity flow systems are aware of its significance. It demonstrates that your body is healthy and functioning at its best. Since I began the RID-X program with Amazon, I have not experienced any issues with my system. Thank you to Amazon for the recurring delivery and to RID-X for a fantastic product.

I've used many treatments, but this one is the simplest. Its effectiveness won't be known for some years, though. It should, however, be just as effective as any other treatment product after reviewing the label's components.I watched to see how long the wrapper would take to dissolve the first time I flushed it down the toilet. Within a few minutes, it was gone, and the contents began to bubble and smell. At least you are aware that something is wrong. According to the label, one packet should work for the majority of septic systems (mine consists of 2 500-gallon tanks). The directions state to drop it in and flush, but because of past issues with my system, I wait till the wrapper dissolves and the contents start to "bubble" before flushing. Additionally, I've learned to flush it a few more times to make sure it reaches the septic tanks. When I first moved into a house with a septic system, I was unaware of the need to be cautious about the cleaning supplies you use. Make careful to look for the phrase "septic safe" on the label. Definitely refrain from using Clorox liquid! A no-no is anything that kills bacteria, which liquid Clorox will do. The less often you need to have the septic system cleaned, the better because it is extremely expensive to do so.One additional thing: instead of draining your washing machine into the septic system, discharge it to the yard instead. It is okay (and legal) to run the washing machine drain to the yard because most places classify it as gray water. The septic system will benefit a lot from this. If you use liquid Clorox or bleach in this manner, the grass may be killed.

A 74-year-old septic tank is mine. Recently, my roommate bought toilet paper that wasn't exactly "septic safe." I try to put as little paper, grease, cleaning supplies, etc. into the system as possible, but all the drains started to drain slowly. I chose to attempt this because I was beginning to stress because I couldn't currently afford high plumbing costs or the new tank that would be required to comply with current codes. I flushed the toilet after pouring half of the jug down it (I have a small tank and wanted to wait a few days and see if I needed the other half). The water seemed to drain more quickly a few hours later! I reasoned that it couldn't reasonably work that quickly and that it must be wishful thinking on my part. Days later, however, I was able to establish that the bathtub was draining properly since, unlike before, there was no soap residue left inches up the tub's wall following a brief shower. I did wait a few weeks before adding the remaining stuff. Also, the toilet is flushing more effectively. I will repurchase because I am so happy with the results and for upkeep. It arrived really promptly and was safely packaged within a plastic ziplock bag.
If you are looking to clean your septic tank naturally, there are a few things you can do. First, you can make sure that you are not putting anything into your septic tank that will decompose and create problems, such as food scraps or grease. Second, you can have your septic tank pumped regularly to remove any buildup. Finally, you can add bacteria to your septic tank to help break down waste.
To keep your septic tank healthy, you should have it pumped and inspected every 3 to 5 years. You should also keep an eye on what goes into your tank, as things like grease and oil can clog it up. Additionally, you should make sure not to put anything down your drains that could harm the bacteria in your septic tank, as they are key to breaking down waste.
There are a number of things you can do to prolong the life of your septic tank. First, you should have your septic tank pumped out every three to five years to remove the accumulated sludge and scum. Second, you should avoid putting any type of chemicals down your drains, as they can kill the bacteria that break down the waste in your septic tank. Third, you should direct all roof drains, sump pumps, and other sources of water away from your septic tank and leach field. Fourth
You can start a new bacteria in your septic tank by adding a septic tank starter kit to your tank. This kit will provide the necessary bacteria and enzymes to start the decomposition process in your septic tank.
If you have a septic system, you should limit the number of loads of laundry you do in a day. Doing too many loads of laundry can overload your septic system and cause it to fail.
There are mixed opinions on whether or not it is beneficial to put yeast in your septic tank. Some people believe that the yeast will help break down the solid waste in the tank, while others believe that it will actually clog the tank. Ultimately, it is up to the homeowner to decide if they want to experiment with adding yeast to their septic tank.
