Whatever you pay for, you get. LeCreuset, Staub, or Lodge are not what this is. You are receiving a subpar Chinese-made CI wok. Marginal? Well, to begin with, my wok doesn't sit flush or flat. It sways a little bit. The wok's interior is everything from smooth. Although the interior is sufficiently rough to tear paper towels, my wok hasn't pitted, which is a good thing.You must follow the directions, wash off the factory-applied coating, and season thoroughly. I applied flaxseed oil six times to create a thick, durable layer. This wok has already started to become nonstick, and most meals can be prepared with just a half tablespoon of oil. This wok is substantial, hefty. Don't let it fall.I've read complaints from other reviewers claiming this isn't CI, but I beg to differ. There is no question in my mind that this is made entirely of cast iron. I've read about black chunks flaking off into food, but I've never personally seen this flaw.I use an old 14.5-inch Cuisnart wok cover, which fits flush on the lip of this wok. With this wok, you can make excellent stir-fries, steamed dumplings, tempura, and everything else a home cook can think of.

For my Weber charcoal BBQ, I bought this. I've made fajitas and wok-stirred chicken thus far. Both times, I first cooked the meat for a short while before adding the vegetables and continuing to simmer for a short while. The dish was swiftly and evenly cooked with barely any smokiness. To try more recipes excites me. The one minor drawback is that the wok needs to be cleaned gently; to prevent scrubbing as directed by the manufacturer, I ended up soaking it twice every time I used it. I would unquestionably suggest this wok to anyone who enjoys grilling with charcoal.

This device has a stove!Every few weeks, I prepare stir-drys for my family. As I was only able to use an electric stove and a large non-stick skillet for cooking, I was acutely aware that they were, at best, acceptable. I've been considering large kitchen ranges (48" wide) to replace my 32" JennAire when it eventually breaks. I saw that similar stoves could be purchased with wok burners; cool, but it also used up half of the area on the top of a 48-inch stove "I wanted the stove to include a grill and griddle as well, so this was not cool. Not possible.I observed the chef at the adjacent Panda Express in the meantime, and it quickly became apparent that serious stir-frying required a large wok, a lot of thermal energy, and an excellent exhaust system. These requirements were not going to be met in my kitchen, where the range is located in an island. So what do you do? The $50 low end propane fired wok cookers were the first goods I noticed when I checked online, but they weren't going to cut it. Then I noticed the more expensive units that were intended to be incorporated into a large outdoor kitchen. I decided against doing that. I eventually came across numerous mid-range cookers, including this one. seemed like a good deal at $160.As opposed to my Giant Green Egg smoker, which still looks and functions exactly as it did when I received it as a birthday gift 15 years ago, this item is unlikely to be a lifetime investment. But the construction is not too poor. Although I immediately went and obtained the materials to build a chain web linking the legs together to eliminate any possibility of leaning on the device and shattering a leg, the legs are quite strong. The wok itself is basic and reliable. For the time being, I got out my rarely worn welding gloves. It would have been wonderful if they had taken some action to ensure that the handles stayed cool.It is not like the large single handle woks you see Chinese chefs using, tossing the food around, where there is frequently no need to manage the wok while it is cooking. With the tools, food modification is accomplished. But yet, don your welding gloves.Because the sheet metal frame is fragile, it will probably break first, especially in places where rust is a problem. Keep it dry, paint it with high-temperature BBQ paint, and it should provide enough service. The burner is extremely simple; it seems to be made of cast iron, however I've read that it's not entirely made of cast iron. The gas control valve is quite simple, but I kind of like that because I could change it easily if it ever breaks (unlikely).Leg extensions function as intended. The tripod appeared to be solid and steady when fully extended, with little chance that I, at 6', would unintentionally tip it over. However, I feel that the ring that the wok is held in is a little bit too small. If you don't move the large 22" wok, it sits perfectly on it, but it all seems a little risky; perhaps an 18-20" wok would feel safer. possibly a bigger ring Even so, if you use caution, it is still functional. Keep the dog at a distance.The kitchenware are of good quality and, with regular care, should last for some time. Although not spectacular, the instruction manual is still functional. The bundled DVD is the same.Did I mention that it cooks like a champ?I seasoned the wok per online instructions that suggested using oil, salt, and potato peels after removing the protective layer with a pyrrolidone-based paint remover (simple to accomplish). It turned out okay, but after reading more, I was persuaded that the potatoes and salt were unnecessary. So, I just gave it another go with a little safflower oil and a lot of heat. Really fast, a wonderful seasoning developed. A short search on the internet revealed that there are a number of oils with equivalent or greater smoke temperatures, so I chose to use safflower oil despite the fact that they recommended using peanut oil, which is only accessible locally in large, pricey jugs. Since avocado oil has the greatest smoke point and is easily found in small containers, I was inclined to use it. Perhaps I'll try it out in the future. I would have thought that the oil's level of unsaturation would have an effect on its capacity to polymerize, but I couldn't locate any information on this online.It's now time to start the stir fry, which will consist of chicken breast cooked to order with a variety of vegetables and sauces for my wife, son, and of course myself. The included thermometer works well for deep frying and boiling but is less useful for stir cooking. One of my finest purchases ever, the Fluke remote reading infrared thermometer has various applications, so I pulled it out. In accordance with the directions on the video, the chicken was added first, then the vegetables, and last the sauces, when the heated wok reached about 500 degrees and the safflower and sesame oil mixture began to smoke. I increased the gas after each addition and then decreased it after approximately 30 seconds, when the wok had returned to 450–500 degrees. Fabulous!I must add that everything worked amazingly well! There was no need for an explanation, which surprised me. Simple as fishing! Food of truly restaurant quality, prepared in a few minutes per batch, and individually suited to the preferences of each family member.You could definitely prepare enough food in one batch to feed about 6 people. You would definitely need a larger wok and even more heat after that. But it only took me five minutes to make a large batch, so in ten, you could serve twelve people, etc.Other wok burners that boast 2.5 times as much output as this one have been seen.

For grilling vegetables, I adore this basket, but use caution as the finish is easily scratched. Before putting this on the grill, make sure it is very well oiled or buttered! I'm not sure if the issue is with the product's subpar design or with me, a novice griller.I bought mine in July, but I doubt I'll get much more use out of it because huge portions of the nonstick coating are missing, and I'm now concerned that small pieces may end up in the food.
