Do you have any experience with UCO stormproof matches? Then you understand why these are the best!I always have a firestarter with me since I love the outdoors. Matches are a backup, but fire steel is a necessity.On an expedition in northern Canada, it was -25°C. I loaned my mitts to a teammate whose glove failed and became fully wet (it was a gore-tex knockoff) as I struggled to light my MSR XGK stove. I quickly lost the dexterity in my fingers and palms to properly execute a strike into the stove cup, despite the fact that you can depend on a fire steel to function every time. I was aware that if we couldn't get some snow melted and some hot food into us, we would be in trouble. I accidentally struck the match pretty hard after forgetting I had packed the UCO Titan match set. The match did not shatter and lit up strongly because of the thick wood cores. The powerful match's flames and prolonged burn time battled the wind and chill of my open tent vestibule (dudes, seriously don't fire liquid gas stoves inside your tents). These matches are of the highest caliber and most likely prevented the frostbite of a few fingers.The matchcase isn't particularly impressive, and that's the only thing I can say against the product. The paper striker should be on the inside of the cap or secured with a cover. Your matches will be alright if the case gets wet, but the striker will be mush. Fortunately, they provide you a few replacements to keep within the case!

Just in case other zombified, exhausted, survival gear hunters make the same error I did, I wanted to point out mine.I did so much research for my kits that I came across this item being sold by numerous merchants on numerous websites. Some versions of this device included a mirror within the cap. Since I had seen it so frequently, I anticipated the mirror when I got it here. It appears that some dealers do not have the mirror version. Even though I can see how little that mirror would have been now that the item is in front of me, I don't miss it.Putting my error aside, this was well worth the money. Even by itself, the container was worth what I paid. Check the measurements if you are building incredibly tiny kits. It could seem a little heavy. It would be simple to remove a few of the games, gather the extra strikers, and place them in a tiny resealable bag. Alternately, remove some and store additional items in the tube's interior area. The container could be used for something quite different. Without a doubt, I wouldn't discard it. It has a robust rubber seal, and it held up when I pushed it into a clogged sink and ran it under pressurised water from the faucet. The matches have a large, thick coating. Definitely superior to those with only orange material. Nothing was collapsing or breaking apart. The extra strikers are in a small bag within the tube and there is cotton inside the cap.I'll place an order for a backup in a different color.

These matches have been really successful for me. What's not to like? You catch them on the box, they lit. Although I've read some reviews on here saying that they break easily, I haven't actually experienced this. The sticks are thick, and unless you're irresponsible and angry and use lighting matches to vent your fury with the world, these function just fine.I will confess that I did find these at Walmart for less money just after I bought them. Walmart sells these three boxes for $2.44 for two boxes, however I paid $6.99 for them at the time of this review, including $3.95 for delivery. No complaints, good matches.

I needed a simple way to burn the incense cones that I keep in my upstairs office in a collection of German smokers. Additionally, I favour wooden matches. I was right when I said that this sounded like a wise investment. They ignite with essentially no effort. They remain lit for long enough to motivate two smokers. It is the ideal length. These matches burn more slowly than regular ones, which would practically reach my fingertip. They would be fantastic in the kitchen since they would give you a little extra space if you needed to light a stove top.

I was sick of using cheap matches that would fizzle, break, flare, and burn me, even though I thought it was foolish to purchase beautiful ones. What about the ones that launch the blazing point across the space like a catapult from the Middle Ages? These are the "quality matches" I found during my search. Yes, it is expensive when I could have purchased a cheap big pack at the supermarket. These, however, don't smell sulfurous and light and burn well. They burn a little bit faster than I had anticipated, but they almost completely burn out before they get to my fingers; perhaps this is a built-in function. Additionally, they're created in Sweden, and their vintage-style box gives them an edge over similar matches in terms of cool factor. I see, then.

They were delivered really quickly—in just two working days. It arrived in a little package in my mailbox and was slightly torn because the paper was so thin. I lighted three matches in a row, so they are flawless and have no writing on either side. I'm pleased with my order because it came with what it stated it would.Update: A month later, everything is still working perfectly, but there is one thing I should have mentioned: there is a secret to striking the match. While striking, you must place your finger on the pink portion and apply pressure to the black portion.

Despite being lengthy, I was anticipating these matches to burn rapidly, thus I was quite aback by how sturdy and long they lasted. The length and burn time were perfect for starting my fire. They are also very useful for starting backyard bonfires, which are required to cook hot dogs and make s'mores. Additionally, the 4-pack's price is reasonable. These "Strike Anywhere Matches" are the BEST ones currently available. WHY? Due to the fact that Diamond Greenlight Strike Anywhere Matches are currently the ONLY brand that is extensively distributed in the US. The following other brands have all been phased out: Ohio Blue Tip, Penley Strike Anywhere Matches, and UCO Strike Anywhere Matches. WHY? Since "Strike Anywhere Matches" were once thought to contain a significant amount of phosphorous on the tip, they are now regarded as hazardous or dangerous commodities.These previous "Strike Anywhere Matches" are listed under the "dangerous products" category by FedEx and UPS, and transporting them will result in exorbitant hazmat fees. The USPS won't let them be shipped at all.Since they were reclassified, insurance costs have made it impossible for businesses to carry them, therefore you have not been able to find these in your neighborhood shops for years. This is the reason why all of the other "Strike Anywhere Match" producers have stopped producing them. Due to the high cost of transportation, stores ceased keeping them in stock.Therefore, the best kitchen matches created and marketed in the US are these Diamond Greenlight Strike Anywhere matches. In the US, it is still legal to produce and sell them. Just the other causes mentioned above have caused their competitors to fail.These matches do not always light on the first strike even when using the striking plate on the side of the box because of the decreased amount of phosphorous on the head of the match. The match frequently needs three or more strikes to light. As a result, the strike bar on the box's side frequently becomes worn before all of the matches inside have been used. WORKAROUND: I cut a piece of sandpaper with a grit range of 180 to 220 and attach it to the box's top. Great results.These seem to ignite more faster than any other Safety Matches currently on the market, in my opinion. However, I notice that the head will collect moisture rather than light when it is raining or really humid. A very dry piece of wood, a very dry rock or brick, or a heated, dry piece of clean metal will all serve as their lighting sources. I frequently use these to light my charcoal grill, which I light 3 to 5 times a week all year long. However, I keep these matches inside my house so they won't be exposed to the humidity, wetness, or moisture found outside.I'd advise putting some in a waterproof container with a small strip of 180 to 220 grit sandpaper if you like to camp. Because of all the negative reviews, I'm only writing this ridiculous one. You only really need to know that they are matches and that they work. These were my recent purchase (as of 09/17/12). The exact matching in the picture are what I received. Not a single one has yet broken or failed to ignite for me. They carry out their duties exactly as they should. hence, five stars.
