Although the knives in this set appear nice, they are not yet suitable for throwing (at least for me). The tip is pointed when viewed flat, but it is just about 1mm thick, so it won't stick as readily as with other knives I own.2) I must file the tip to make it thinner and all the edges, including the edges of the inner slots, before I can use it comfortably. All the edges are thick but perfectly square (and harsh to my skin; it even cut my soft glove that I wear to avoid burrs). I'll give this work 4 stars after it is finished.Once the edges are smoothed down and the tip is sharpened, I wrap the handle in paracord to improve the appearance (no effect on throwing).I can now control the blade while throwing a half-spin (I have not practice no spin yet as half spin gives me longer range).Compared to the 1mm thick tip, these blades now penetrate two times deeper (I use a tree trunk as target with end grain facing me). Therefore, these knives perform extremely well for me at a cost of around 22 dollars plus effort to make modifications (10 minutes per knife).Given the good performance/cost ratio, I now give it four stars.

First off, let me say that I'm an old-school martial artist with 37 years of experience. Despite teaching primarily Chinese martial arts, I also train in Filipino Kali, where I do a lot of blade and stick work. I can use karambits and straight blades fairly well, but I've never attempted to learn the balisongs. I made this purchase because, at my advanced age, I wanted to give it a shot.The knives may be adjusted using their pivot screws, however they are a touch heavy and the unpainted knife has a coarser finish. I enjoy that knives can "bite" a little bit more on my hand because of the weight and the rougher polish on the blade. So that there are no bad habits while using live blades, this teaches the user to respect the knife and be more accurate with their tricks.These might not be the greatest option if you are buying them for smaller children or you have really delicate hands. I ended up buying another pair for my 12 and 15-year-old sons after making my initial purchase. Although there are better balisong trainers available, it would be difficult to find a better overall package for the price of these 2 knives.

The blades arrived in good condition, and the sheath is of high quality. The knives have a solid weight, a sharpened edge, and a pointed tip. The paracord wrap on the handle tends to come undone, while it is simple to remove, therefore I would prefer to do without it. The knives are simple to throw and provide a sense of accomplishment when they connect. To determine the ideal distance, I had to experiment with several distances. For a beginner like me, 7 feet away was the ideal distance. After a few dozen throws, I feel like I'm starting to get the hang of it. Since I only intend to throw these, I don't believe I would like to have a sharp knife edge. I built a target out of four 2x6s that was 5' high. I believe I got a decent value and a good quality knife after reading all the reviews of other knives. I'm eager to improve, eventually acquire more knives, and eventually acquire a tomahawk or hatchet for throwing.

My very first pair of throwing knives was this one. I quickly received 3 black and 3 bare metal pieces. I first made a cardboard target. cast my first three knives. A pair of them stuck. Cool. I must have spent a lot of time perfecting my form and watching videos before I even received the knives. I then threw around 50 more at my cardboard target, which was made up of about six pieces of cardboard taped together with a circle in the center serving as the lone target. I use a firm outdoor pressure-treated wood slab that is about 5 feet long (the height of my target) and 2 feet broad (enough side to side length to prevent missing and hitting a cat or whatever else). I probably threw those knives 1,000 times over the course of the following three days. Then I gave my pals a chance. The blades held up even after a lot more misses, "tings," and "tangs," of the metal striking wood and reverberating across my street. We're now a few weeks in, and I probably throw for about an hour or so every day, give or take. I've mastered the no-spin throw from a variety of distances as well as the half-spin throw (holding the blade side) from my preferred working distance. 2 underhand throws were taught, all using these knives. The experience of throwing a tiny knife like this gave me a lot more confidence when throwing larger knives, machetes, and swords. I've now started throwing larger 12" knives.Yes, you will start to see chips in the blade if you miss frequently or don't have a soft surface for your blades to fall on (for me, dirt or grass). This doesn't diminish the capacity to throw, though. Incorrect form, speed, distance, how it slides off your finger(s), target height, target kind, etc. are most likely to blame for those who claim they can't make them stick.I either move closer to the target, use a more fluid motion, almost slow down my throw a little, or I throw some throws straight down into a piece of wood on the floor or even straight into soil after I miss a few throws in a row or they don't stick. It enables me to see whether my knife is rotating too much, too little, sideways, wobbling out of my hand rather than slipping out smoothly, etc.It's undoubtedly a fun pastime. Now that I've created a few targets, I see it as nothing more than a dart game using a novel throwing instrument.I've witnessed individuals hurl hunting knives, pocket knives, machetes, swords, nails, screwdrivers, and scissors and have seen them all stick. Although I'm not quite there yet, these blades offered me a solid foundation on which to build my knife throwing skills.Thus, I do award it 5 stars. My favorite first- and second-set of blades. Although some plastic may have been utilized (particularly in the sheath), this dagger is constructed of hefty, durable metal, and it doesn't FEEL like plastic. The visible silver or metal pieces are made of actual metal. not a plastic. This item, which I purchased from Amazon for under $10, is AMAZING. The metal is gorgeous. Even the blade is quite nicely balanced, which is something you wouldn't anticipate at $10. I just... I adore it wholeheartedly.Now, I'll admit that although the bottom piece of metal detached from the sheath, it didn't seem to be "broken." I believe there wasn't enough adhesive applied. It was back in great working order after I reattached it with a small amount of interior hot glue. I didn't find this bothersome and didn't deduct a star for it, but you might. I am still smitten with this blade and sheath, nevertheless, because of their exquisite craftsmanship and design.I advise the manufacturer to use a little extra adhesive to secure the metal to the sheath. Otherwise, continue acting as you are. It's fantastic.Oh, and there's one more thing: The blade slides into the sheath flawlessly and snugly. There is almost no room for "wobble." This is an important consideration for me, and I was quite impressed with it.

These knives are great. These are by far my favourite throws out of a variety of sizes and weights that I have tried. I can throw these knives without incident into a plywood target virtually every day (I use a thin piece of siding foam over the target, as you can see in the picture). A handful had lost their covering, so I just cut the wires from every one of them. If you know how to throw well, you can obtain a good toss without the cords. I haven't had any breaks or bends, and I can throw a long way—about 25 feet, which is more than enough for self-defense. Just purchased a second set!

beautiful little throwing knives fantastic for novices. My son and son-in-law received two sets from me for Christmas, and every now and then they go outside and hurl them at trees and targets. They have great precision. They must be pretty resilient because neither of my guys have been able to shatter or destroy them.Although the arm band that is attached to the case is not intended for broader arms, both of my boys have smaller arms, therefore the arm band fits them perfectly.
