For the kitchen sink, we have been utilizing a wire mesh strainer. It would move (upward and sideways) in the face of a heavy downpour of water. They functioned well together once we added a flat strainer underneath it. Then we discovered this strainer that was more robustly made. Even during heavy downpours of water, it fits securely and holds position. It was not the strainer's fault, but occasionally the oil and other small particles from ordinary kitchen cleaning would clog or coat the strainer and obstruct the water flow. Therefore, we made the decision to maintain the flat strainer there. We simply remove the top strainer when necessary and turn it upside down while the water is running to clear/clean any clogs.

What I was looking for was exact. These strainers capture the smallest food particles while letting water pass through easily. Compared to the typical strainer/stoppers that already have rubber stoppers connected, they are significantly simpler to keep clean. These strainers are quicker to clean than those rubber stoppers, which were continually collecting scum. They are not intended to prevent water from filling the sink, but because I just use the sink for rinsing, that is not a problem for me. These strainers have been in use by me for a few months now, and they have so far managed to remain as spotless as they were when I originally took them out of the container. Emptying and cleaning take only a few seconds. Anyone who has a septic system and is worried about keeping unneeded food out of their system should definitely buy this device, in my opinion. I'm delighted I saw these and gave them a try after using a basket-style strainer for years. Everything that would typically drain into the sewer is caught by them. They are truly doing their share to avoid a clogged drain, and I am genuinely impressed by it. I put a strainer in each drain of my double sink. One strainer exactly fits one side of the sink. The other doesn't quite fit the sink's larger side. It wanders around a lot and doesn't completely round the drain. But it does cover the drain. Although it would be good to not constantly move the strainer to make it appear more centered, it is comforting to know that it is still catching all material. I purchased a new faucet for my bathroom pedestal sink (a single hole assembly for a 3-hole sink) and chose to forego the option of an escutcheon since I wanted a little different appearance. So after looking around for sink hole covers, I chose these because: 1) they seemed to look great; and 2) I liked the wider post underneath since I felt it could make fitting them less difficult and allow them to rest more flushly on the sink top (so that I might not need to caulk the covers). Although I have no idea if the wider post hypothesis is accurate, I did find them simple to install and they do sit flush enough to the sink top that I haven't had any leaking (I didn't use any caulk, just tightened them). However, I don't make a lot of splashes when using the water, so your mileage may vary. They definitely complement the chrome-accented faucet on my sink very nicely, and they also blend well with the chrome pop-up drain I added. They were flawless, as far as I could tell, and for the price? I view this purchase as a complete "win" for my project and myself:D

I'm happy to report that the OXO strainer is the undisputed champion after testing a number of sink strainers. I was sick and tired of the strainer that kept getting stuck in the sink stopper position while I was washing dishes, causing dirty water to back up, and requiring me to go inside to turn the f-ing post in the right direction so that the water would drain. Frustrating. Simply said, this strainer is a sieve. It easily picks up large pieces of whatever you're putting in the sink and can be quickly moved to the trash by banging the strainer against the trash can. Food never gets stuck to the sieve for me; even melting cheese comes easily off. My previous strainer was a wire model, and I had to spend a lot of time cleaning it and hating it since everything kept sticking to the wire. This strainer has worked flawlessly for me. It is simple to maintain and keeps a clean appearance. I simply drain it, clean it with a paper towel dipped in soap, rinse it, and reinsert. I was unable to locate a stopper that would completely close off my sink without letting the water I use to soak dirty dishes leak out. All of the local big box home improvement stores, hardware stores, and grocery stores that I examined had leaks. This is effective! Seals it up properly, so I won't have to worry about returning home to discover my dish soaker completely empty of water. I deducted one star because the top grab knob is a little bit too small to easily remove the drain stopper when it's time to change the water. The only reason I bring it up is because my spouse and children both said the same unprompted things. This little sink drain is so adorable. It's a lovely shade of red and fits perfectly in my kitchen sink. This object is deep, measuring somewhat more than 1.25"; yet, it is not immediately apparent from the photograph. Actually, I was hoping for a flat design because it would be simpler to clean; I detest how grime and slime tend to build at the base of these drains that resemble cups, but whatever. At least you can easily grasp a nice little chicken. It is made of a rigid, hard plastic that is not elastic or stretchy. My mother and four other people all share a home, but for some reason, nobody else knows how to empty the strainer! This strainer basket fits and functions as it should in our sink. It now appears good as well. It looks to be identical to the OEM stopper in our home, which is 11 years old, with the exception of a missing raised letter "K" on the knob.However, be aware that we are currently replacing our OEM stopper since food particles frequently gather and deteriorate in the upward-facing cup of its black rubber seal, and because the metal plating on both its knob and the bottom of its shaft is peeled off, revealing the white plastic underneath. Without a doubt, its replacement will ultimately suffer that fate.I would have given the EverFlow 75111 five stars if the shaft and knob were made of stainless steel and the black rubber seal was cupped from the bottom (as opposed to the top).Before purchasing this strainer basket, I used the Glacier Bay 7047-102SS, Glacier Bay 7047-104SS, and the KOHLER K-8803-CP. Sadly, none of them would fit or seal properly in the tailpiece that was installed on our sink.
