There are a lot of different opinions on flocked decoys, with many hunters believing that they are not worth the extra money. While it is true that you can get by with just using regular decoys, there are some definite advantages to using flocked decoys. One of the biggest benefits is that they are much more realistic and will fool even the wariest of birds. If you hunt in an area where the birds are heavily hunted, then flocked decoys are definitely worth the investment.
Yes, you can duck hunt with 6 decoys. You will need to set up your decoys in a strategic location in order to attract ducks. Once the ducks are attracted to your decoys, you will need to be patient and wait for the right moment to shoot.
If you are looking to add some variety to your decoy spread, you may be wondering if you can mix duck and goose decoys. The answer is yes! Mixing duck and goose decoys can give you a more realistic spread that will attract more birds. Just be sure to use a variety of sizes and shapes to avoid spooking the birds.
There is some debate over whether or not spinning wing decoys work. Some people believe that they are effective in drawing in ducks, while others believe that the ducks can see that the decoys are not real. The jury is still out on this one, but if you are looking to try a spinning wing decoy, they are relatively inexpensive and easy to find.

I adore this ruse! Even though it disassembles and the legs and head fit within the body, I thought it was really noisy. I bring it with me whole. Silent and portable. Just use it wisely and safely. When I first used it in Missouri in late October, I gave the head a small set of antlers to make it resemble a lesser buck. Had a 125" 8 point walk up to the decoy with his ears back after spotting it from 75 yards out. The deer then charged at my decoy, coming within 12 yards of me. The deer had no idea I was there, which made for a fantastic spectacle. Had plenty of chances to harvest him if I wanted to. Same outcomes the next day with a different buck. Midway through November, I took the antlers off and used it as a doe. The deer have responded to it every time I've used it and they've been around. Although I am very selective about what I collect, it has never scared deer away and has provided me numerous opportunities to shoot fantastic shots. For the upcoming archery season, I would like to purchase a second one and have a buck and doe set.

You are aware of how misleading reading these Amazon reviews can be and how some individuals either love or detest it... Even though Minnesota's hunting season doesn't start until September 1st, I recently acquired The VooDoo Dove and was ready to put it to the test and either confirm or refute all the rumors around this decoy. The doves truly believe it to be Black Magic! Eight Mojo Clipon Dove Decoys, which I also purchased from Amazon, were placed out, and within 10 minutes, I had four flybys and three doves on the ground (eating grit) (easily in range for shotgun) In conclusion, this dummy is authentic! Already wanting to add another one to my spread!

I have additional doe decoys that are effective at calming deer and luring them towards your stand location. They are large and awkward, or you have to blow them up, which is a problem. They ultimately become damaged and need to be patched. In the autumn of 2017, I bought this decoy for hunting. I created a realistic tail that attached to the top of the rump. Anyhow, as the wind blew, the tail would sway back and forth, attracting all kinds of interest from passing bucks, does, etc. Although not excessively, the head also sways from side to side.I really enjoy how portable it is and how little space it takes up when folded. I keep my decoy, stakes, and clip-on tail in an identical-sized green fabric bag.I would repurchase.I'm sure the ruse was more effective than not. Here are a handful of my encounters with this nearby decoy setup.1. Attracted a buck from more than 300 yards away to a decoy inside 40 yards. [Made me into a believer]2. Made a 2-year-old buck walk up to the decoy and stop after swinging away from two does. [Very near]3. Several times controlled feeding deer in a field between 50 and 60 yards from the decoy.4. Calm deer in places with heavy hunting pressure. Please create one in the grazing position for Montana Inc.

I am confident that the smaller, lighter version will be just as effective and easy to transport because I know the huge version works. I wondered if it would fit into the smaller version because I had an additional remote control. It did, but just just. There is hardly any room in the little version for the remote receiver with the velcro attached to it. It's useful to have a remote. In dim light, the wing action is particularly effective. My hunting partner is certain that when it's sunny out, the motion frightens the ducks. Be warned that the mini Mojo's wings are not the full-size model's aluminum ones, but rather a type of honeycomb material. It's unclear how durable these are, but they might float in contrast to the large Mojo wings, which will sink like a stone. Find a spare wing nut for the wings immediately in case you drop and lose it at night. Additionally, avoid dropping the Mojo in the water since, as I can confirm, it is not waterproof. On the plus side, Mojo provides amazing customer service.

I really enjoy using my Primos sit and spin decoy, I guess. Two predators are attracted to its height and beauty. But I also added three things to it to make it much better. When you first get the decoy, mix up some JB Weld and put it in the hole where the plastic stake meets the steel portion. Here in Missouri, the soil is slightly rocky, and during the summer or other dry months, our clay becomes quite hard. Your decoy will be damaged if you try to drive that stake into the ground; however, this issue can be resolved with some good old-fashioned J-B Weld. Second, I attached several fragrance wicks to the spinner's base, slightly above the platform for the decoy. This enables you to add your preferred scent—for me, it's rabbit pee—and merely shortens response times. Third, and certainly not least, I removed roughly an inch of the steel rod from which the decoy is mounted. This, in my opinion, makes it stand up straighter and causes it to lean back less, which enhances its capacity to spin. I'll include some images so you can see what I mean. Other than that, I'm pretty pleased with my decoy, and I especially appreciate that I can attach it to my Alpha Dogg and activate it whenever I want.

The deer are really drawn to this ruse. During my 2016 archery season, a lot of deer approached my decoy feeling secure. It was truly amazing how beautifully this functioned.WELDS THAT CRAPPLE! To increase the stand's strength, reweld it.Since it is so realistic from a distance, I would be extremely cautious and refrain from using it during rifle season. 2018 Edit. I stand on one side of the rack and attach orange safety tape to the legs. Deer are unaware.A field or an area with at least 100 yards of viability is the ideal place to set up this product. The stand's welds are poor quality, as many others have noted. Under strong gusts, mine cracked. Fortunately, I have a friend who can weld, so it was fixed right away. All the pieces can fit in the body, but it takes practice. 2018 update: The pieces can scratch and lose paint. Deer are still drawn. You might need to trim the neck to allow for more head movement, as several others have suggested. I didn't yet have to.I advise affixing a little bubble level to the decoys' back with glue. The optimal bodily mobility depends on it being level. The color of the bag drives me NUTS. Given that it covers whatever orange you are required to wear, I believe it should have been hunter safety orange instead (on your back). 2018 update: This party's bag is the worst one yet. The drawstring broke in the late 2016 hunting season (the year I purchased), and the bag's color makes it hazardous to carry during rifle season. If the designers read this: MAKE THE BAG SAFETY ORANGE AND ADD A CLIPPED STRAP SO IT CAN HAVE A SECONDARY USE AS A STAND MARKER FOR STATES WITH OVERLApping SEASONS AND YOU NEED TO MARK YOUR HUNTING LOCATION WITHIN 15 FEET!!!UPDATE FOR 2018:Purchased in 2016 and reviewed again in NoV 2018. This ruse still looks impressive. When you set it out as a buck, it attracts does. Keep it away from known deer routes and downwind. This decoy works well in a feeding field or at the staging area leading to one.I believe that this spooks deer, especially younger bucks, when they are close by. I'm going to flock the decoy to dull some of its luster. I applied UV protection spray to it.The fact that 90% of the deer that have seen this have entered the decoy really impresses me, I must say. Some approach directly while others approach within approximately 70 yards. It ALWAYS pulls them in and gives them a sense of security in the field, though.Place this upwind of where you are hunting at ALL TIMES. EVERY DEER that has entered it, BUCK IN PARTICULAR, has entered downwind. To get a close shot, you want this to be upwind of you as the buck circle will be downwind of the decoy. I use leaf smoke, cover smell, or air it out to remove any traces of human odor. Big buck still enter this decoy despite my meager efforts to limit their scent.I would remove one side of the rack if I were to use this decoy as a buck to make the buck appear less dominant. I believe that some smaller (shooting) bucks are intimidated by the rack size. If one rack is gone, a smaller buck will always enter the area and stay on the side of the missing antlers. I've seen it enough to know that it's most effective with only one antler. When employing this as a buck decoy, especially if you see another buck, SNORT WHEEZE if calling or if you want to bring in a buck you see from a distance. Additionally, I avoid pinning the ears back since it comes out as harsh. I wheezed and snorted while calling in every single deer. I've used a snort wheeze to lure buck off doe on consecutive hunts from 200 yards across a field to come in and explore this decoy. works on both big and little bucks.

The 2D spoofs are effective. It makes sense if you've read previous reviews where guys claim that when a deer approached from the side, it immediately recognised something wasn't right. All that matters is that a deer approached. Location is crucial. Guess what? I placed it in places where a buck can see it from 1/4 to 1/2 mile away. They see this decoy and approach it when they hear the rattles or grunts. Utilize the wind. They will go in circles close to it. Additionally, it does fold up into a small enough package so that I can fit it, along with the rest of my belongings, in my medium-sized backpack.

In the wind, this thing cooks! In order to make it stick up higher in the marsh where I hunt, I utilized some 3/4" EMT that I had lying about. I've used it on two hunts so far, and it's held up great. had ducks strike the dummies.

We'll see how it holds up over time as I've only had this decoy for a little over a week and have only used it once when hunting.Waterproof: There are two apertures that could serve as water entrance points. In addition to sealing well, the huge aperture that unscrews to provide access to the engine and batteries appears to be resistant to getting caught thus far. The rubber-covered On/Off switch is located in the second opening. Small and demanding a very forceful press to activate, the switch is. This should prevent the device from being mistakenly turned on while in motion, but using it calls for a very deliberate push. Although the rubber is pretty thick, this is an excellent place to check for leaks.Size: The photo does not do it credit; it has a smaller body than a typical duck decoy, which is balanced by a huge tail. Birds usually won't notice the change because the entire length, including the tail, is roughly equivalent to that of a typical mallard decoy. I believe the body is smaller to aid in enlarging the ripples. The fake body has a lovely paint job and texture. Even if the motor fails, it will still look nice in your spread. One advantage of employing this in instead of a quiver magnet is that after it expires, the decoy just transforms into a standard one.I am pleasantly surprised by the waves it creates in the water. When compared to the Expedite Quiver Magnet, this generates noticeably greater ripples. To compare it to, I haven't used any other quiver items.Battery Life: More testing is needed. After three hours of hunting, the first set of batteries is still active.Durability: The decoy body contains a deep plastic cup in which the motor is housed. Water should stay outside the cup and keep the motor dry if it does leak into the body cavity. With a little water in the decoy, you should be able toss and turn it without worrying about the motor or batteries becoming wet. This cup ought to act as an additional layer of defense against errant shot pellets for the batteries and motor.Great color and body; if the batteries run out, it will make a wonderful decoy. The size of the ripples pleases me. A well-designed product should prevent motor from getting wet.Misses: Incompatible with keel grabber weights (fine for use with a Texas rig though). short battery life advertised (8 hrs). The on/off switch is challenging to use.

The primary reasons I'm writing this review are to discuss the issues that still exist with the 2016 model and to let customers know that MOJO is repairing damaged units at no cost to them. There are a lot of one-star reviews because the devices completely quit working after only a little period of use. MOJO has reportedly developed a new version of the product that, presumably, fixes the problem. In spite of an expired warranty, MOJO will replace your damaged units with the new model if you contact them. Fantastic to see a business take responsibility for a problem and stand behind their goods.
A decoy is a person or thing used to lure someone or something into a trap. It can also be a bird or animal used in hunting to attract prey.
No definitive answer exists, but many experts feel that decoy size does indeed matter when attempting to lure in geese. The general consensus is that larger decoys are more effective, as they are more visible from a distance and better able to imitate a real goose. Additionally, multiple smaller decoys may be less effective than a single large decoy, as geese are more likely to be suspicious of a group of small birds. Ultimately, it is up to the individual hunter to experiment with different sizes and see what works best in their particular situation.
Decoys are used to attract game animals within hunting range. The decoy may be static, such as a carved wooden duck used in waterfowling, or it may be dynamic, such as a lure used in deer hunting. Decoys are used in hunting waterfowl, rabbits, deer, and other animals.
Ducks are attracted to areas of open water with abundant vegetation. To hunt ducks, find an area where there is a body of water with plenty of aquatic plants growing around the edges. The ducks will be feeding on the plants and insects in the water. You can also try to attract ducks by putting out decoys and calling to them.
There is no definitive answer to how far decoys should be from a blind, as it can vary depending on the situation. However, a general rule of thumb is to place them about 20-30 yards away. This will help to attract birds within range, without spooking them too much. Experiment with different distances to see what works best in your area.
A male mallard will have 1-2 decoys and a female will have 3-4 decoys.
