My wife was going to utilize this pair of adjustable dumbbells even though she loathed having her hand inside the Power Blocks that I had previously used and enjoyed. These and the stand are what I ultimately purchased, and so far they're fantastic, although I do have some reservations. Basically, it has a plastic-heavy design. We take excellent care of our home exercise equipment—we never toss or drop weights—but it seems like their life expectancy will be short. I could be mistaken, but several reviews claim to have had issues. The shaky aspect of the plates on the dumbbells while you exercise is another thing I don't particularly like. They do move about a fair bit. It's not a big problem, but it's obviously distinct from a solid dumbbell.For the good, the grip is really comfortable, and if you're performing circuits that call for frequent weight changes, you can change them out pretty quickly. They enter and exit the weight stack rather easily, but I usually move very carefully because it appears like that would be one of the motions that, if forced, could harm the catch mechanism.A month or so after purchasing them, I was looking around Craigslist for additional fitness equipment when I came across a pair of Ironmaster Adjustable Dumbbells that were being sold nearby. It also became apparent over the month I possessed the 552s that I needed to be able to lift at least 75 lbs. The Ironmasters I purchased are a whole different caliber of merchandise (but they come at a different level of price as well). The Ironmasters have a lifetime warranty and, when tightened, have the weight of a sturdy dumbbell. There is no equivalent. Their weakness compared to the 552s is how simple it is to change the weight. I can switch out two dumbbells now that I've had them for a while in around 45 seconds, whereas the equivalent adjustment on the 552s takes about 5 seconds. The Ironmasters only have that drawback. I am aware that was a lifetime investment. Both have served us well, so we will keep them for the time being. We typically utilize the 552s for lighter sets or circuits that don't require quick changes, and the Ironmasters for bigger sets or circuits. Two sets of dumbbells actually make sense for my wife and I because we usually exercise together and perform many circuits.What it really comes down to, in my opinion, is what you're looking for in terms of cost and durability. I've been regularly working out in a gym for the past 30 years, therefore I recently made the decision to construct a home gym. I wanted equipment that would be with me at 52 till I can no longer perform it. The Ironmasters are the best option in that situation. The Bowflex 552's would be an excellent place to start if you are new to working out or setting up a home gym and are unsure if you are going to stay with an exercise routine. It is definitely difficult to justify spending twice as much on Ironmasters. Just be gentle with them, and perhaps they'll hold up. Power Blocks are something I would seriously consider. They are sturdy and adapt quickly. The design of the hand in the block position is not to everyone's taste, but it is kind of the best of all worlds. If you are considering the big three alternatives, I hope that helps.

These weights are fantastic! I just bought some 25-pound hand weights (set of two). My two weights appear to be identical and the weights themselves appear balanced and symmetrical. The handles' weighted ends appear to be firmly fastened to them. One of the weighted ends of the 15-pound hand weights I bought from Target years ago has a little play in the way it's linked to the grip. I should have just sent them back, but there wasn't a lot of choice. However, the two weights don't feel psychologically symmetrical or identical; instead, I feel like I need to switch hands for various sets. But the weights I just bought are strong and well-made. I'll come here first when I'm ready for 30 lb'ers!
