Because they were longer, they assisted with some motions (12"). When I made the purchase, neither did I realize that it mattered. Now I do. I recommend getting a set of 12" and then looking for a set of 9" or 10" if you have trouble with certain moves. But regardless of my weight, the rubber bands are useless for thighs and butt motions. The blue/green one is TOO challenging for me to use. Perhaps if I really wanted to use it on my thighs, it would be quite tight, but there is very little resistance, making it suitable for a leg-lowering routine that only calls for pushing against it rather than stretching. Its smaller size makes it difficult to push your legs out considerably, and for this reason I consider this band to be ineffective. It doesn't work for me, but perhaps I'll come up with a better use for it. It's too challenging because it's smaller and heavier. It could be better if it were the same size as the other two, but then I'd be intrigued to know if it was the same weight. Having saying that, the other two are fantastic for squats and booty exercises, so don't let their sizes deter you. These aren't for moves where you have bands on your feet or ankles or when the band needs to be tightly wrapped around your feet. For such, latex bands work best. Both the smaller band and the two feet don't fit snugly enough with it.All in all, I'm quite pleased with my purchase. I wish all bands had this level of stability and non-rolling resistance.
