For those who are unaware, Kwikset's namesake refers to their keyed entry systems, or tumbler locks that must be physically unlocked with a key and that can be reset to any key using their proprietary technique. I was able to buy three door handles and three deadbolts separately through the Kwikset system, then reset each so they all function with the same key, therefore removing five keys from my key ring. Some individuals worry about the security of this, although statistically speaking, the majority of house incursions are "break-ins," not lock picking or alarm bypassing. Additionally, their locks are rated similarly to other well-known brands with comparable prices. But since this handle is not keyed, that mechanism does not apply to it. The mechanical operation and fit and finish are flawless. This "iron black" variation is fantastic; it is completely flat black. As I dislike the "old bronze/Venetian bronze" two-tone ombre look, this was perfect for my room. This black handle's contrast and pop from its bold, squared features and straightforward, contemporary appearance were just what I was searching for.

When compared to the need to replace thumblers, etc. on traditional locks, the smartkey feature on them makes rekeying incredibly simple. One of the deadbolts did not work properly throughout the rekeying process, but a fast YouTube search solved the problem within 10 minutes. These also have amazing looks and functionality. Compared to the neighborhood hardware store, Amazon has these for half the price. In case your door is thick, the kit includes two sets of machine screws in various lengths. Installing numerous of these on my doors wasn't difficult for me. Reading the instructions or viewing an online tutorial should be enough to teach anyone who understands how to use a screwdriver how to install these. This set was an easy decision for me because of the cost and ease of using the same key to rekey everything in a new residence. I'm happy with how everything turned out.If it weren't for one minor installation snag, I would have given this set five stars. This set had exactly the same specifications as the old one I was replacing, but for some reason, the bolt hole at the bottom of the handle was wrong by a millimeter or two. We couldn't even get the door to open with the old handle from outside, so it might have been wear and tear on the door, poor craftsmanship by the previous owner (probable, given the condition of the rest of the home), or incorrect specifications on the set. Whatever the reason, additional drilling was necessary to make this fit. However, everything appears to be in order, and a minor hole re-drilling was not enough to make me regret my purchase. I adore the way it appears on the door, and using the handle now makes it possible to enter. This would receive an ideal rating if it weren't for that one hiccup.

I detested the outdated brass knobs on the double front doors of my new house. I chose to paint the doors black and thought the knobs should be brushed nickel. I went to a nearby home improvement shop, and the locks cost more than $100 each. Since there are two doors, I required two. Actually, I required both one and a set of dummies, but I wasn't aware of this at the time.I have no idea how you managed it if anyone has ever installed door knobs before. I spent hours doing this, which was quite unpleasant. The fact that my doors were still damp to the touch definitely didn't help. My lack of forethought was poor. However, once they are up, they look fantastic and, thus far, function flawlessly. In the end, I'll replace it for the door we don't use by seeing if they have a dummy set. It was probably challenging because it wasn't drilled in the same way.But how much more expensive is it than home improvement shops? One costs more than two. This was undoubtedly a wise purchase.

After 12 years of use, my slider's handle finally broke off. Quick replacement is required. In my neighborhood shops, I couldn't find one in white that would address my problem, and none really looked all that appealing. I appreciate that new handle is a tiny bit bigger than my old one because it is more rounded and has more room, which makes it simpler to hold and pull.
