Yes, a dog can sleep with a cone on at night. It may be uncomfortable for the dog at first, but they will eventually get used to it. It is important to make sure the cone is secure and not too tight so the dog can breathe easily.
Yes, you can put a shirt on your dog instead of a cone, but make sure the shirt fits snugly so that your dog cannot get it off.
Yes, you can remove your dog's cone after two days. The cone is meant to protect your dog's wound and prevent them from licking or scratching at it. Once the wound has healed, the cone is no longer needed.
If your dog is still licking their wound, you may need to keep the cone on for a few more days. If the wound is healed and your dog is no longer licking, you may be able to take the cone off.

We had to make the unpopular choice to cone our 21-pound little schnauzer because he had a small scrape on his leg that he wouldn't let heal. We bought him a medium-sized, comfortable cone, and it fit him perfectly to shield him from himself and his fervent licking. He slept soundly with the cozy cone on for about a month and experienced only a few minor concerns (see below).Although our dog had previously utilized the "cone, but not a cone" inflatable travel pillow, we knew he required a genuine cone this time because of the area where he was licking that the travel pillow wouldn't block. Our dog enjoys falling asleep in positions that are quite reminiscent of human sleep, such as on his back, curled up in a pillow, or dozing off in front of the TV, so we knew a hard cone wouldn't be ideal for him.He wasn't thrilled when we put on the cozy cone, but he wasn't horrified either. It accomplished its job of protecting him, and he had no issues sleeping with it. Although it was incredibly difficult for him to eat and drink with it on, the sleeping and protection made it absolutely worthwhile for both of us.Our dog occasionally imagines burying his food and drink first, which periodically resulted in an amusing dump truck-like disaster with the cone. He ate a suspicious amount of food and it made his cone smell like dog food because he isn't very skilled at negotiating angles or finding different paths in general. You can surely eat while wearing the comfortable cone because he did it numerous times over the month while appearing to be a possessed and ravenous funnel, but your results may vary.I imagine the cone as a kind of medical gadget in the world of dogs. The function is what matters most when determining the relative rating. It would be difficult for a person to ever award a cast 5 stars if they broke their arm and received one because they would be really irritated the entire time; yet, if the product performed as intended and did so effectively in an unfortunate circumstance, it is essentially a 5 star item. That is how we conceptualized the cozy cone.Overall, I think this is a fantastic product, however the following are some of the standout features:USAGE - We didn't weave our dog's collar through the cone since we attach our leash to it. Velcroing it to his head independently from his collar was much quicker and more practical. Our dog was only required to wear his cozy cone indoors. Because it's so opaque, he found wearing it on walks to be somewhat unsettling and it caused him to walk strangely. We rapidly gave up on that. Fortunately, taking it off and putting it back on only takes a few seconds.GOOD STUFF - The velcro on your dog's head makes it simple to put on and take off. Even if you don't thread it through your dog's collar, it is quite easy. You'd be surprised to learn how secure Velcro is. Only once in a month did our dog manage to escape the cone, which was probably because we had it on too loosely.- Canines can actually fall asleep with it on. Our guy didn't give a damn. Like a tiny transportable satellite dish, he passed out.- The dog's neck is not scratched by the material. As long as your dog doesn't have a really long nose, it protects really effectively.- Quite simple to store. We had to bring the cozy cone with us on a trip, but that was no major thing. A tiny reflection can be seen in the edge material. After the first few days, we didn't really make our guy wear his cone outside, but it was interesting to observe.- You can wear it around your neck and crack wise if you get a medium size and up. Your dog will enjoy the combined activity.NOT SO GOOD STUFF - Dogs do not enjoy the sound of velcro very much. In order to achieve the best outcomes, we used the band-aid "TEAR IT OFF AS FAST AS YOU CAN" technique.- It will pick up roughly 25% of scents because it is composed of material that is similar to that of a winter jacket. Our dog stinks quite a bit, but the cone wasn't too unpleasant. But if you make your dog wear the cone while going on walks, it will probably start to smell because the cone will be covered in dirt, brushing against plants that have been urinated on, etc.- Your dog has no peripheral vision because it's opaque. There would initially be some disorientation, but our guy quickly relaxed.- If you crate your dog, it will be an adventure for them to enter while wearing this cozy cone, just like with any cone.- Your dog may make a few mistakes when he hits his face on the stairs and becomes quite disheartened if you have a lot of stairs or dog stairs in your home.- Eating could be messy, just like any cone.- A complete circle cannot exist. Ours occasionally turned out as a triangle, occasionally as a square, but it always worked!

My 105-pound Rottweiler was constantly licking a sore toe. Our veterinarian checked him out. She examined the region after shaving his left toe and discovered no foreign objects there, so she ordered antibiotics for 10 days. He was given a big, uncomfortable plastic cone to take home. Instead, I applied a cotton sock to his foot, but whenever I wasn't around, he'd take it off and resume licking his toe. I decided on the Comfy Cone collar XX-Large after reading reviews and ratings. It's cushioned, well-made, and operates flawlessly. Since the cone can be altered in size and is held in place with velcro, I didn't need to use my dog's collar to hold it in place. It's not a problem because my dog is well-behaved. He cannot touch his toes since the cone reaches far enough. My dog's neck is 25 inches long. Two pictures are provided.Update: To prevent him from touching his eyes, my dog had to wear the cone (again) for a week. Given that the cone is padded and cozy, he prefers to sleep in it. It is now easier to take him outdoors and feed him since I can slip the cone on and off without having to fasten the velcro every time after adjusting the size. Perhaps since my dog has a large head, I can carefully put it on and take it off. The cone suits him quite fine.

The moment we put the dog Cone on him, our puppy's behavior altered, so I made the decision to give it a shot. He was amusing, didn't get harmed as he walked through the kitchen, and appeared to be in a lot better mood. It significantly impacted his diet and rehabilitation. He still dislikes the enormous cone on his head, but the Comfy Cone allowed him to quickly return to normal. My kids can now again cuddle with him because it is much simpler for us to pet and play with him. This Comfy Cone rescued the day for us. We took care not to make him smaller than the size the veterinarian prescribed in case he couldn't reach his front paws, and he can't.

My dog scratches her ears till they become scabs as a result of repeated ear infections. She has figured out how to remove the plastic clips found on the majority of cones, but velcro works much better. Although flexible, the material is strong (my dog has also cracked cones in the past). For a few weeks, I had to leave the cone on essentially always, and throughout that period, she was unable to break it. Though overall decent value for the price, after a few weeks the stitching holding the velcro to the plastic started coming undone and definitely won't last until her next infection. I'm especially grateful that it comes in my pups' size because there aren't many options for dogs with thick necks.

I bought this collar for my beloved, adoring German Shepherd. She chews on herself till she develops scabby sores and is prone to what appears to be a skin allergy. She has seen multiple veterinarians. Several grain-free foods were tried, but to no success. She is taking a medication to prevent fleas, and she is flea-free. She has used pills, lotions, and shampoos, but nothing has changed. I considered using this collar because I didn't want to subject her to the "cone of shame." I bought the L size. It is secure and fits well. The flocked material appears to be strong and "cozy." I discovered from a few reviews that they couldn't inflate it. The type of "pinch valve" found in pool/water inflatables is present in this collar. As you blow or pump air into the valve, you must squeeze the very bottom of it to get it to open. It required some effort, but it was quite simple to inflate by mouth. The velcro strap is a good addition that helps to stabilize and secure the bag, and the size L suits my German Shepherd very well. She can't gnaw on her flanks, rear legs, or back because of it. She can eat, drink, go potty outdoors, and sleep in it—though I must say, she doesn't appear delighted about it! My dog wouldn't likely endorse it, but I gladly do.

I absolutely adore this product! Delilah, my puppy, had to wear a collar after having her surgery, but I didn't want to put her in one of those bulky plastic e-collars. Our dog could easily eat, drink, sleep, stroll, and move about while wearing this collar. She periodically bumped into a door frame, a wall, or my husband and I with it, but neither the walls nor we were hurt. You thread their regular collar through loops on the inside, fasten their collar, and then velcro the strap on the outside. She made several attempts to remove it but was unsuccessful. But most of the time, she didn't even appear to be aware that it was on. She is a very scratchy puppy, so she was continuously attempting to scratch her neck because it was probably getting scratchy below. This made me worry that she could tear something, but it has held up nicely despite the scratching. This product is fantastic, and it's both affordable and high-quality. I also saw that it fit according to the size chart. I could slip all five of my fingers between the collar and her neck while it was still snug enough that she couldn't take it off because she weighs 52 pounds and falls into the large size range on the chart. I would have felt completely at ease leaving it on her for longer periods of time if she had needed to wear it for longer than the suggested 10 days! I hope I was able to address everyone's inquiries!

During a food trial for a probable food allergy, our cat requires this collar to keep her from tearing off her belly fur. Having something she can tolerate is crucial because the collar must be worn for weeks, if not longer. Everyone is aware of how much they dislike hard cones, therefore initially I tried a soft material cone. The poor cat struggled to move because she kept stumbling over it. purchased this product in a small (she is a 13 lb cat). It worked well to keep her from reaching her midriff, but it was too tight around her neck. When it was around her neck, the two open ends were still about an inch apart. I afterwards purchased the medium. Although the medium seems large for a cat (the larger collar makes it a little trickier for her to maneuver), it is the ideal size for her neck. I really wish they'd just design a cat-specific one with a medium-sized neck and a small-sized inner tube. With a 13 lb cat, the medium is often working for us. Much more tolerable than either the soft or hard cones. She has been using it for three weeks and is able to eat, drink, and use the restroom. She only had her nails clipped once throughout that time, and neither the puncture nor the deflation have been a problem. Highly advised.Update: The collar is still doing a terrific job after six weeks. The small had been too tight, rubbing some bald areas on her neck, so the medium was definitely the proper fit. Within a day, she had become accustomed to the bigger size, and it doesn't appear to bother her any more or less than the little did. I wholeheartedly endorse.
A neck pillow can be used instead of a cone for a dog, but it is important to make sure that the pillow is secure and cannot be easily removed by the dog. The pillow should also be comfortable for the dog to wear.
Dogs pee in a recovery suit by squatting and urinating like they would normally do. The main difference is that the recovery suit covers their back end and prevents them from getting urine on their fur or skin. This is especially important for dogs who are recovering from surgery or have a medical condition that requires them to wear a recovery suit.
A dog should wear a recovery suit for as long as necessary. The recovery suit should be removed when the dog is no longer in pain and is able to walk and move around freely.
There's no denying that both onesies and cones have their pros and cons. But when it comes down to it, which is better? Here's a quick rundown of the pros and cons of each: Onesies: Pros: -Can be easier to put on and take off than cones -Someonesies have built-in Velcro or snaps that make them adjustable, so you can get a perfect fit -Onesies come in a variety of colors and patterns, so you can find one that suits your style -Many onesies
There is no definitive answer to this question as it depends on the individual dog's needs. Some dogs may do better with a recovery suit that covers their entire body, while others may do better with a cone that only covers their head. Ultimately, it is up to the owner to decide which option is best for their dog.
