Since they run on batteries, you can put them everywhere. A single pair of batteries provided CONTINUOUS operation for several days. I purchased one in black for myself, but it matched my black fireplace screen too well at night. I gave it as a present and purchased a second red one for myself. When choosing which one to purchase, be sure to take that into account. Despite the fact that my purchases were a bit pricey overall, I am very happy with them.
