A can crusher is a device used for crushing aluminum cans for easier storage in recycling bins. While most recyclers don’t require you to crush cans, if you do recycle a lot, your bin space will fill up quickly. The crusher gives you extra space by flattening either single or multiple cans.
A can crusher using scotch yoke mechanism is a device that can crush cans by using a reciprocating motion of a plunger. The can crusher is placed over the can to be crushed and the plunger is pushed down, causing the can to be crushed.
No, crushing cans does not make them heavier. In fact, crushing cans actually makes them lighter since the can is now taking up less space. This is because crushing the can decreases the volume of the can, which in turn decreases the weight.
You can crush a soda can with air pressure by using a can crusher. Can crushers are devices that use air pressure to crush aluminum cans.

This is effective. Aluminum cans with a 12-ounce capacity are quite easily crushed to a height of less than an inch. Larger cans won't fit, and 12-ounce cans' pop-tops actually need to be pretty flat when placed in the crushing chamber. It required considerable time and work to install. The rear of the gadget rests against the wall or the surface it is mounted on. Six holes have already been predrilled into the metal plate that makes up the back, three across the top and three across the bottom. Because the studs on which it would be installed are too narrow for screws through four of the predrilled holes—two above and two below—I was concerned that if I only used the center holes, the gadget might eventually sway from side to side. This is a lengthy way of saying that I believe the Crusher need to be installed on a board that is fastened to the wall and spans two of the studs. No problem if you already have a board like that in the proper location. If not, you'll need to get the right piece of wood, mount it on the wall, and then mount the Crusher to it. If you need to acquire screws, keep in mind that a mounting board connected in a garage will typically need to be attached through a few sheets of drywall (i.e., the firewall).I found it odd that the Amazon image depicted a metallic item, but what they actually provide is painted white. As the Crusher moves, various parts bump into one another, and some paint has been scratched off as a result. The instructions advise lubricating the moving parts; however, using the Crusher also removes the paint that was covering the lubrication.

This worked reasonably well for me when I was seeking for a cheap solution to smash cans.Overall, it will function as intended, and I too was a victim of a shoddy handle attachment! I inserted the rod into the handle and set that side on the flat surface of an anvil instead of leaving a negative review on what seemed to be a minor design flaw. I was able to go back to work with a few hammer blows to the pin's opposite side. Thank you, Dad; you taught me a lot. The procedure is rather simple: place the can, pull the handle down, and repeat.Near one end of a two by four that was roughly three feet long, I mounted the crusher on it. In this manner, I can sit in a chair, brace one foot against a building or a fence, and begin to crush. I like this since it is portable and allows me to customize where I sit and where I can crush cans. How did the cans become crushed? I started playing around since I was bored and discovered two things. The cans apparently crush more easily when turned upside down. Another thing I discovered was that the can is IMMENSELY simpler to crush if I use my thumb to push the side of the can into the crusher (just a slight dent would do.)It's worth the money, aside from the handle/pin issue, which is fixable by anyone with half a brain.

After reading the reviews, I made a few of the suggested modifications and utilized a different mounting technique. The device has already paid for itself numerous times in a very short amount of time, and we are quite delighted with it.First, I used washers, nuts, and bolts to strengthen the two pivot/hinges. One reviewer experienced a pivot popping apart; mine will never experience that. The remainder of it would first crumble.Second, I bent the front edge of the platform where the cans are crushed slightly upward using a Knipex Pliers Wrench. The cans are prevented from escaping the crusher by the minor curve. I could always bend it a little bit more, but for now, this tiny bend has taken care of the issue. The crusher may be mounted on a board and slipped under a couch to clear the path, as was proposed. Instead of putting mine to a table leg, I opted to install it to a board. I removed the excess length from the screws used to attach the crusher to the board by cutting them. If we use it horizontally, they won't scratch the table leg or the floor. I secured the board to the table leg with three "zip-tie straps." Since the board is long enough, it may sit on the ground and support the setup. The straps don't need to resist the crushing force; they just need to keep the board flat against the table leg. The setup can be stored anywhere by simply cutting the zip ties. The board could certainly be clamped to a table, door, cabinet, or anything else with ease. Great results.EDIT: I applied a small amount of Slideez Lubricant with a Qtip to the area where the metal crusher moves inside the apparatus. The crushers are now a lot smoother. Apply a little Slideez where you observe worn marks. Great stuff, this. Additionally, you need this for any additional dragging drawers as well as the plastic ones in your refrigerator and freezer.

My five-year-old loves to crush cans with it, and it's really strong and simple to use. The only drawback is that we had to put a piece of rubber on the base to prevent the cans from falling out of the crusher when it was in use. The issue was resolved using a little piece of rubber and 2 sided tape.

almost perfect fast and simply mounted at my back door. Aluminum cans were waiting to be crushed in four garbage bags, which I did in less than 30 minutes, reducing the four large bags to just 3/4 of one hefty bag. Nice. It was simple to press down on huge 24 oz. and 32 oz. cans because to the extra-long handle. Cans of 12 oz seemed to self-squash. Ha. I did experience some large cans kicking out. But that appears to be a common occurrence. Only those pint cans with screw-off lids caused me any trouble. They require more energy to smash since they are thicker overall. But this nasty boy was capable of doing the job. Although I haven't had it long enough to comment on durability, I can say that given the way it was built, I'd be surprised if anything broke. It has a tank-like design. Solid. This tool is essential if you smash aluminum cans. It's not a fragile piece of "stuff" made in China. It's a crucial tool. American-made products, too!

I didn't really enjoy it in my initial review, but when I ran out of it, I had to buy another one because nothing else looked like it would work as well. You just need to be aware of a few basics. First tip: Avoid packing it with six cans; it will clog. It lost a star because of this. But when done one at a time, it excels. A bucket of cans can be quickly consumed once you get into a rhythm. Tip #2: Depending on the size of the cans you're crushing, you'll probably need to adjust the flexible rods in the back. It's simple; just bend them to support the subsequent can while you crush it before dropping it on the back stroke. But just one at a time! Keep it oily, especially where the draw rods for the crusher plate engage the handle's holes. My first one wore out right here. Because it lasts, I use brake caliper lube. 4. Don't use it while intoxicated, don't allow your friends use it while intoxicated, and don't let the kids use it. If you heed my advise, you'll enjoy using this crusher for a very long time.

For a while, I searched for a can crusher, and when I came across this one, I decided to give it a try. It's constructed of metal, so I think it will last. It was simple to install and makes it simple for the user to crush sodas. Despite the fact that I have Amazon Prime, the shipping was done fairly quickly.Pros:The costWhen crushed, the can does not fling out.created using aluminumSimple to useSimple installation enables recyclinghelps you avoid trips to the recycling facilitybolster handleQuick shipmentCons: Only 12-ounce cans can be crushed. (DISCLAIMER: While you may undoubtedly opt to get the 16 oz can crusher, I went with the 12 oz model. In other words, without first smashing the can, this could not crush a Monster Energy Drink can.)In general, I would suggest/purchase this product again.

I started collecting cans after we moved and were no longer able to recycle at the curb. Within a month, I understood that a can crusher would be required if can recycling was to be practical.I opted to get this can crusher from Amazon after doing some research because it is less priced than many other can crushers that are available and handle numerous cans.Since we started using it around four months ago, the crusher has performed incredibly well (especially considering it is completely made of plastic).Cons: One screw is difficult to reach near the opening where the crushed cans fall, but other than that, it's fairly simple to assemble and attach to the wall. It holds multiple cans, allowing you to store them all and crush them at once (our kids now argue on who gets to crush the cans and have become the main can crushers of the house)- The cost is significantly lower than that of other crushers I've researched.Cons include the fact that it is entirely constructed of plastic, the storage bin's size and flimsiness, the possibility of cans being trapped within, and the possibility that the opening screw may not be flush with the plastic.Overall, I'm pleased with the purchase, but if I ever need to replace the crusher, I'll spend a little more money and get a model that's made of more metal than plastic.

Pros: Most cans under 16 ounces can be crushed.Cons: When I crushed a can, it would get trapped and was initially very stiff. It now slides and crushes easily after I applied some WD40 to the sides and continued using it. You'll be all set with a little bit of skill. Before crushing, push the can in a little bit to make it easier to crush. It is feasible to crush a can larger than 16 ounces, but you must bend the can slightly and smash it at an angle. But it does function. I've used the crusher to crush a lot of 24 oz beer cans. Since I didn't aware it had a bottle opener until just today, I haven't utilized it. Now I'll have to test it out! When my family came over last night, they had a great time using the crusher to open the beer cans. They also intend to purchase one. It's quite helpful.

Pit Bull can crusher, 12 oz.

Recycle aluminum soda, pop, and beer cans by compressing to approx. 20% of its original size

By now, everyone is aware of how this works: You always get what you pay for.Having said that, the product accomplishes its goal. The mounting technique should be improved, and the handle structure is a little fragile. The crusher has three holes at the top, but only one at the bottom, which could result in some bottom swaying when crushing a can if any sideways torque is applied to it. Use the handle carefully, and you shouldn't experience any problems. To solve the torquing issue, if you are handy with a drill, you may add some more mounting holes at the bottom. The best piece of advice I can give you is to make sure you install this on a stud in the middle rather than just into the drywall. The main drawback of this crusher is that it only works with 12 oz. cans that are normal "soda" can size. The mouth opens to a diameter of 5" when fully opened and 1" when closed. Keep this in mind when purchasing a crusher because you won't be able to use it for taller or slimmer beer cans or any larger energy drink cans. However, giving things a slight twist and crushing will assist them fit inside the crusher before utilizing this product. No matter how you look at it, the pricing of this crusher is unbeatable.(Side Note: The product I received had a red handle rather than the black-handled crusher shown. This doesn't concern me at all, but it should be mentioned anyway.)
To easily crush cans, place them into a recycling bin and use your foot to step on the can and crush it. You can also use a can crusher if you have one.
A can of Coke uses about 11.5 psi to open.
A can can be crushed by hand with a small amount of force. However, the amount of force required to crush a can will vary depending on the size and type of can.
You can crush an aluminum can by using a can crusher. A can crusher is a device that can be used to compress cans to a smaller size. There are different types of can crushers, but most of them work in a similar way. First, the can is placed into the can crusher. Then, the can crusher is operated to compress the can. The amount of compression will depend on the type of can crusher and the settings that are used.
An aluminum can is extremely strong for its size and weight. It is able to withstand a great deal of pressure without being crushed. However, if enough force is applied, it will eventually yield.
It is better to crush cans before recycling them because it makes them take up less space. Crushed cans also make it easier for the recycling center to sort them.
