Great (but funky) toaster oven.1) Does not *quite* fit corelle plates easily. You can get them in, but they push a little on the sides of the toaster2) Alien-space-ray lighting while cooking. Lights blink on and off as food is cooked. Slightly funky and noticeable when heating up pizza rolls while watching a movie.3) Plates get REEEALLLY hot! Other toaster ovens where you pop a corelle plate in and heat it up aren't quite so aggressive at heating up the plate itself. It's basically impossible to serve / eat from a plate that's been used for the heating/cooking, so plan on transferring / dirtying two plates.4) Time Adjustment issues => better now. Other reviews talk about not being able to adjust time after cooking is started. What really happens is that if you click (for example) the "Toast => Medium" button, you are locked out of turning minutes up/down. Open the door, hit 300 degrees, 1minute, put your hand in, and *BAM* it's really hot right away. This thing is great for "combo cooking" 1-2 minutes in the microwave, 2-3 minutes in the toaster oven and almost everything will work great! Because there is almost literally zero pre-heating step for the oven, a regular toaster oven might take 2-3 minutes to come to temperature, while this one will immediately give you 2-3 minutes of full-temp cooking time.6) I'm a huge fan of toaster ovens vs. toasters. With this thing, you spread 5-10 cheese sticks onto a plate, set it for 10 minutes, flip them once, and you're done. Soooo much more convenient. Dangerously convenient.7) Shape. It's the borg-cube of toaster ovens. It's not breadbox-shaped. It's a little funky. Knit a sweater for it and cover it up when it's not in use. It's not that bad, but it might clash with elegant modern design sensibilities.8) External heat. Other reviews have talked about extreme heat issues. Most toaster ovens have an issue that it's convenient to put things on top of them, but for cooking times of less than 10m I haven't noticed any extreme heat, with ~6 inches clearance around the device.

We bought this oven to replace a Cuisinart toaster oven that broke down years ago but was nearly identical to this one. The size and control arrangement of this new oven are identical. It's fantastic thus far. Different heating components swiftly heat up and evenly toast bread. I couldn't find any information online about the new elements, but they look more effective than the dark grey metal ones in the old unit. Although I can't speak to how long it will last because we haven't had it long, we have been extremely happy with this oven thus far.

As I was considering it, Amazon reduced the cost to $153. It's time to fire the gun.It entered and, sure enough, the frequently reported gap was present — bummer. I looked again, though, and discovered that there are spacers that keep the door from closing all the way and striking the body. Hmmm.Next, let's use it to cook. It takes a little longer to warm up than with the smaller 195, but I appreciate the extra space and the two racks. Let's start cooking now. good job. The values that came after were all contained a small range. Better than most larger range ovens, most likely. Therefore, the distance has no impact on cooking. But why? Then it dawned on me. There have been incidents where the glass door has cracked or burned someone. Since the oven was at 425 degrees when the glass corner was measured, there was a 265 degree differential. The door's exterior at the warmest location was 107 degrees cooler than 97. Direct contact with the door would have raised it considerably. Therefore, closing the gap that so many have complained about is a smart idea to prevent some potential finger burns.The cooking time started when the oven reached the predetermined temperature, and you had to be present when it did, which was the second major complaint. Both the cooking time and temperature can be changed at any moment. If you begin late, you can make adjustments shortly before you put the food in.Speaking of warming up, the pizza setting in the oven takes a while to heat up because the pizza stone has to warm up first.complains about the door's use of hooks as opposed to a magnet. I'm not sure; the rack is not high enough to catch with all the cooking I've done. Because of the vicious 1-star reviews, I had second thoughts about purchasing this item. After using this appliance for a few weeks, I can only surmise that either a significant number of defective items were distributed (very unusual for Cuisinart), or that some consumers had unreasonable expectations of a toaster oven/air fryer.As a kitchen appliance, toaster ovens have been a constant in my life, so I've had to become familiar with all of their peculiarities. It has fewer than many other ones I've owned. However, it cooks quickly. very quickly This one cooks in a lot less time than predicted, so you need to watch it closely. With my prior one, you had to raise the temperature by around 25 degrees higher than you thought was necessary. As we understand more about how it functions, that ought to alter. The manual's and recipe book's suggested times and temperatures seem to be best faded back a little. It has a lot of strength.So far, chicken wing drumettes have been my favorite dish. My renowned buffalo wings are always deep-fried in peanut oil, then covered with sauce and dried briefly in the oven. They truly appear as though I just took them out of the fryer after cooking them for 10 minutes at 400 degrees on air-fry, flipping them over, and another 10 minutes of cooking. They are even better, according to my wife. Traitor!Compared to any toaster oven I've ever used, garlic toast and English muffins seem to crisp up quicker and keep interior moisture better. Shrimp and frozen French fries are simple to prepare. I was certain that she would make some boring fresh zucchini wedges tonight, but they were fantastic.To cut a long tale short, we have so far loved it and are eager to continue experimenting with it. Over the years, we've had tremendous success with Cuisinart equipment, and the few occasions we've had issues, their customer care representatives have gone above and beyond to assist us and have always treated us fairly.I adore it, and I would buy it again if it exploded tomorrow.

I gladly stand by my review and would/will buy another one in a heartbeat.*****There are tons of reviews on this thing already so I will get straight to the point by answering the questions that still lingered in my brain when considering this toaster oven after reading all of the reviews.Does it fit a 9x13 casserole dish with handles? Heck yeah…and then some. We are cooking dishes in our toaster oven that feed a family of 5. We have owned this for a week now and have not turned on our full size oven yet. Seriously. We may miss a full oven around the holidays, but 363 days a year we will probably wonder why we have a full oven taking up so much space. We have joked about getting another one for when we need “double ovens”. At $50….why not?Is it worth the money and if so, why is it so cheap? Yes, it is worth the money. If you have experienced the build quality of say a Breville toaster oven, you will know why it is $50 instead of $300. Does it still look nice and feel like it will last for years? Absolutely.Can it make toast, and if so, is it as slow as everyone says? Yes, it makes beautiful toast. Is it slow? I haven’t drag raced it against my toaster-toaster yet, probably should, but it doesn’t feel slower. Couple that with the fact that I can make 8 pieces of toast at once for my growing family… I would say that it is much, much faster overall.Does it get as hot on the outside as others say? Oh, heck yeah. There are warnings all over the place and they aren’t kidding. I clocked the top at 160F when heated to 450F inside. Remember though, you are cooking a full 9x13 pan of lasagna in this thing so just give it a little room to work. It preheats faster and runs cooler than your full oven, it’s just not as well insulated at $50.Is it noisy? My kids can be noisy. My lawnmower is noisy. This thing is just circulating warm air…making me dinner. If this is noisy, you are spending too much time alone.Is there only 1 rack? Yes. Why? Because if you have 2 racks, people will put toast on both racks and then the bottoms of the top rack and the tops of the bottom rack will not get toasted, and they will complain. A lot of people are placing the crumb tray in the wrong spot (which is very, very easy to do) then complaining that it doesn’t bake/toast properly. This is why there is 1 rack.In summary, this thing is worth every penny, and in fact, once you buy it and use it with your adult size dishes, you will probably wonder why they aren’t charging more for it.

I chose this particular toaster oven because of the buttons. I've seen so many that have the dials and I wasn't a fan of them. If you know how a toaster oven works, this is one of them.PRO:s- Small, light, portable. It's very light, the weight on this thing is astoundingly low. You can easily put it away when unneeded.-Heating. Obviously it will heat up fast as toaster ovens do. I like to put a sandwich in the middle and turn it on. The default is like 4 minutes which is way too much. 2 at most from completely off will melt cheese and toast bread.CON:s-Awkward. Since it's so small and light, it's often a weird fumbling to take food out. Some sort of 'tray lock' would be great so I can just slide out my sandwich instead holding the (hot) tray and plate and sandwich and navigating the hot door/sides. Phews-Too small. Now that I think about it.. It's kinda too small. The main issue would be the door doesn't fully open. It's like an 85° opening. A flat 90° would be good and more excellent. But the fact that I almost burn myself on the glass door while removing something is dangerous. (-1 Star for all my food fumbling)-Hot spots. I made a pizza with the pizza settings. One side of it was more cooked than the other (aka. the back was more burnt than the front) (aka. the back was more burnt than the front). The instructions don't say turning the food midway through cooking is recommended.That's really all to say. I really do like it.

I want a toaster oven to accomplish what, exactly? Control, quick cleanup, and capacity. The Hamilton Beach 31401 provides two of the three without any issues, but the third is a little trickier (literally and figuratively).Firstly, the good news. The package genuinely means it when it says it can fit four pieces of bread. I was using some Pepperidge Farm bread that was especially wide, and I was still able to fit 4 slices without any trouble. I also used it to keep a batch of fried fish warm, and it easily accommodated a pound of fried cod. I don't think anyone would be unhappy overall. Although not automatically like other rival devices, the rack slides out. Therefore, you must use your hand as a shield. The claimed "oven" temperatures also appear to be true, and the toasting action is uniform throughout the oven (easily tested with 4 slices). A simple slide-out panel makes cleanup simple.The control scheme of the gadget annoys me. There are three knobs, as seen in the image. The timer is located at the bottom, followed by mode and temperature (I guess). Two little toast-related icons, one light and one dark, are displayed on the bottom knob. These icons don't have any space between them, hence there isn't any between them. It's similar to playing an Operation game. attempting to get the dial to "click" exactly so. Easily overshoot or undershoot the mark. The temperature control at the top also needs to be precisely set in order to toast. Why on earth would these interact? The "proper" temperature should be hard-wired for toasting, and the temperature knob should be completely disabled. This resulted in numerous toasting failures. My sole assumption is that the toaster oven is a "dumb" toaster oven because all of its internal components are mechanical. No matter what mode you're in, if you flip a knob, something happens.I gave it four stars since it performs what it sets out to do fairly nicely (once you figure out the controls). However, the hair trigger and the odd dial layout prevent me from climbing any higher.

My husband I have been using this toaster oven for over a year now on an almost daily basis for one thing or another, and I am extremely pleased with it. We've had quite a few toaster ovens in our lives, and there are several reasons that I really like this one over the others that we've had.First, I like how the toaster and the oven part are separate. With our previous two units, we put the bread (toast) into the oven part and just put the setting onto "toast." With this Hamilton Beach unit, the toaster is totally separate...put the bread into the top slots and toast! We've found that the bread comes out exactly how we set it. We usually toast just plain bread, but we have put bagels in there too with no problems.Most of what we use this for is the oven part. Almost every day we are baking veggies, warming up frozen french fries, or making mini pizzas in there. When you open the door to the oven part, the tray comes out at you, so it's very easy to access the tray when it is hot, without having to put your hand entirely in there. While the oven area is not very deep, it is the perfect size for my family and what we use it for. If you have a large family and are trying to make french fries for 5 people, it may be too small of a unit for you. For us, it's perfect.Since we use toaster ovens multiple times a day, it is not uncommon for ours to break within the year. I know they shouldn't break that quickly, but we've had it happen. This Hamilton Beach unit has been going strong for a year and a half now and still works just as well as it did on Day 1...even if it is a little dirtier, since I don't keep up with cleaning it out as often as I should! But with cleaning....since the bottom tray slides out, it is very easy to clean out the crumbs and mess that naturally accumulate in the bottom of a toaster.Highly recommend this product!
