Yes, you can use regular ground coffee in a percolator. The coffee will be a little weaker than if you used a finer grind, but it will still be drinkable.
Yes, you can percolate coffee too long and it will start to develop a bitter taste. If you find that your coffee is taking on a bitter taste, it is best to remove it from the heat source and let it cool for a few minutes before enjoying.
A camping percolator is a great way to make coffee while camping. However, you may not need a filter for your percolator. If you are using a percolator that has a built-in filter, you may not need an additional filter. However, if you are using a percolator that does not have a built-in filter, you may want to consider using a filter.
When you're camping, there's no easy way to tell when your percolator is done brewing. The best way to know is to keep an eye on the water level in the pot. Once it starts to get low, your coffee is probably done.

This press/cup exceeds my expectations in every way. I purchased this so that I could continue to enjoy fantastic french press coffee while trekking. It is ideal for that because it is lightweight, strong, and compact. One benefit of this is that, while traveling light, you may utilize the interior of the cup to store items (like your dry coffee!). I originally intended to use this exclusively on my camping excursions, but I adore it so much that it now serves as my go-to coffee mug because it brews delicious coffee quickly. Since I don't have to clean a press or transfer to a mug, for example, my morning routine that starts way too early for me to get up has been shortened, giving me a few extra minutes of sleep. It fits nicely in your hand or car cup holder, keeps your coffee hot, and is simple to clean. Get this cup if you enjoy drinking french press coffee; you won't regret it because you'll be pleasantly enjoying wonderful coffee no matter what else your morning has in store.

I adore it, adore it, adore it! Whether at home or in the outdoors, I only make coffee using the pour-over method. I've taken plastic pour-over funnels on hiking trips in the past, but they were heavy and required paper filters. This GSI model is very portable, folds into a disk shape that is roughly the size of a CD, and doesn't require paper filters. I've read reviews where people had to make "cowboy" style coffee with this filter since the mesh was so small. In other words, you would fill the funnel before dipping it into the hot water. You don't need to utilize the pour-over approach, I can assure you from years of experience. The secret is to use finely ground coffee because it reduces the drip of the coffee, enables a stronger brew, and requires fewer grounds while ultralight backpacking or camping. The filter is incredibly simple to clean; all you have to do is let it dry before shaking the grinds off. I adore this item and would buy it again if it were lost or damaged.

I bought this for a pending camping trip, but I don't really care if I get to use it. I tried it out once just to make sure it worked, and now I bring it to work every day, even using it as the "Mug." It is incredibly heat-shielding and easy to use. I am quite delighted that I chose the variant without the plastic handle and the cloth strap. But I'm sold and adore this gadget. It's simple to use and microwave safe (with the top removed obviously). Before I go to the gym, I add the ground coffee and sugar, toss it in the car, and when I get to work, I fill it with water and microwave it for three minutes to make great fresh coffee. It's easily big enough for two people, and I only need to boil one "pot" to last me the entire day. has so far exceeded all expectations and stays warm much longer than anticipated. As soon as I return from my two weeks in Costa Rica, I'll post an update.UPDATE AS SCHEDULEDIt completed the trip to Costa Rica without a hitch, and I was really impressed with how well it retained heat and kept my coffee great for longer periods of time throughout travel. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT The amount was more than plenty for my buddy and myself, so we avoided carrying cups and were able to drink right from it without any problems. I appreciate that the handle is made of cotton and is a little snug since it makes the item feel comfortable, washable, and all around wonderful. Coffee was languishing in the travel kit because I gave up coffee while I was at home, but it will soon be used again because it fulfills its function so admirably. The seal is firmly in place. I never experienced the coffee grounds issue that I had heard about with other travel french presses, and the build quality is excellent for the price.

This gadget is so little, holy crap. I should have known there were two sizes and that I needed to acquire the larger one, but that is my fault and not the kettle's. This evaluation pertains to the 0.8 L size.very little Heats up rapidly. even the coated handle becomes extremely hot; use a glove or cloth. Good enough for two to three cups of tea. Which is kind of good, it weights nothing. It might be beneficial for a traveler who really can't live without tea. A few little things may fit inside with ease. It would be fantastic if there was a version that included a mug or cup with storage.

This percolator is awesome! We frequently go camping, typically in areas with hookups, but occasionally we have to dry camp. Without my coffee, I felt totally lost! I waited, though, as I was still on the fence about purchasing a percolator. The power went out at our home, which is outside of town. I was buying a percolator, that was all! I did my homework and a lot of searching before settling on this. I adore it too!-The basket is also made entirely of thick gauge stainless steel. The glass ones are rumored to crack. Additionally, I've heard that over time, the aluminum ones give your coffee a horrible flavor. So I had to have stainless steel.- And the lid is on the basket! This lessens the likelihood of coffee grinds contaminating your brew.-I desired a minimum of 12 cups for my large family. This one is the ideal size and works well for big groups.-It's simple to wash and maintain. Since the lid is attached, I simply wash it with some soap and water before letting it air dry.-On both the outside and the interior, it specifies how many glasses of water should be added. This is quite useful.– it features a silicone grip to prevent hand burns.I therefore needed to do some study on how to use a percolator effectively. First I went to our local grocery store and got some fine coffee and had it coarsely ground. Because of how much coffee is produced, the basket filter is not necessary. I did purchase some miniature percolator filters to have on hand in case I was running low on coarsely ground coffee. For every two ounces of water, I used roughly 1T of coffee. Simply put, I preferred this. Make sure the coffee is distributed evenly throughout the basket.I then turned it down to simmer for three to five minutes after seeing it begin to percolate in the glass bubble. Make sure you keep an eye on it to prevent burning the coffee. You'll see that the percolating has slowed down.Better than my electric coffee maker, it produced wonderful coffee. I adored how great my entire house smelled! If we don't finish the coffee right away, I'll also buy some sort of warming carafe to put the coffee in.To anyone, I would suggest this percolator! Excellent quality! Well worth the money! I shouldn't need another one after this one. Please click the YES button if this review was useful to you in making your purchase. I'm grateful.

Brilliant stainless steel rims
Ideal for camping, recreational vehicles or home use
8 cup coffee percolator and four 12 oz. mugs
Kiln-hardened blue enamel finish to prevent chips and scratches
$234
This coffee maker makes a good cup of coffee in addition to looking nice. The thin section that contains the code grinds is fragile, and I don't see it lasting more than a few dozen pots, which is my sole criticism.Simply go to a thrift shop, get another inexpensive pot, and replace the coffee holder. I'll make tea in the other pot. This is something I advise, especially in the traditional outdoorsman color of blue. It has that vintage vibe and looks nice on the stove. You won't get wounded for the money, and you also receive cups. I used it over an open fire and on my stove. Purchase one of those fantastic gloves (trust me on this, I have the blisters to prove the need)It's one of my favorite camp additions.

Thoughtful coffee maker, you unquestionably get what you paid for. I spent just a bit more than $20. When it first arrived, the base of the inner percolator mechanism was bent. I didn't have time to send it back or voice my dissatisfaction because I needed it for my weekend camping trip. It fit well after I carefully bent it back into position. However, the inside percolator assembly seems quite cheap. It's not plastic, in my opinion, but it's an extremely delicate, easily shattered material. Additionally, because the coffee basket's cover is so soft, it doesn't really seal well against the basket itself, which means that when the water boils, it often pushes coffee grounds into the water. Additionally, the very fragile clip that secures the lid to the handle has already snapped after two uses.In terms of functionality, it performed just as it was intended to. It made a coffee that was pretty dang good. Remember that "8 Cups" refers to 8 6 oz cups. It was more like 4 cups for the size of cups we were using on my camping vacation. Fortunately, I had an airpot with me, so I could simply brew batches of coffee and put them in the airport/thermos to keep warm. The bottom line is that for about $20, it's a good product. If you take proper care of the internal parts, it should last you for a very long time. produces fairly decent coffee but frequently includes grinds.

This lovely tiny coffee maker is ideal for one person. To make a few things clear so people are happy with their purchases: 1) When discussing the amount of liquid in a cup of coffee or tea, 6 ounces is considered one "cup" of coffee. I took meticulous measurements and discovered that this pot can hold 18 fluid ounces with no problem. three cups in a saucepan. Additionally, this was not intended to be a "perculator" coffee pot. It prepares coffee in a cowboy, or campfire, fashion. Add the necessary amount of grounds—I'm estimating 3 tablespoons—and cold water until it is approximately 1 inch from the top (18 ounces) before gently boiling. Ideally, the water should come from a mountain stream. Ten minutes are spent boiling it by my Navajo friend! When removed from the heat, you can add a spray of cold water, and the earth should fall given the shape of the pot. You're a cowboy if you put a ground in your mouth! Enjoy this robust coffee, just like Cowboys (and Indians) did 150 years ago when sitting around a campfire. Last but not least, the pot should last well and the enamel is properly done. See you in the great outdoors!
When you're camping with a large group, making coffee can be a bit of a challenge. Here are a few tips to make sure everyone gets their morning fix: 1. Make a large pot of coffee using a drip coffee maker or a percolator. 2. If you're using a drip coffee maker, brew a strong pot of coffee using twice the amount of grounds you would normally use. 3. If you're using a percolator, make sure to put plenty of coffee grounds in the basket. 4. Once the coffee is brewed
When I go camping, I usually take my coffee with me in a French press. I like to make a big pot in the morning and then have it throughout the day. It's great to have hot coffee in the morning, and then iced coffee in the afternoon.
A coffee percolator is a type of pot used to brew coffee by repeatedly cycling the boiling water up through the grounds using gravity until the required strength is reached.
Brewing coffee on a campfire is a great way to enjoy a cup of joe while enjoying the outdoors. The key to making a good cup of coffee while camping is to let the coffee percolate for the right amount of time. Depending on how strong you like your coffee, you will want to let it percolate for 3-5 minutes. Once the coffee has finished percolating, add your desired amount of milk or cream and enjoy!
A camping percolator is a coffee maker that is designed to be used outdoors. It typically takes about 10 minutes to brew a pot of coffee using a percolator.
Assuming you're making drip coffee, you'll need about 3 gallons of coffee. This will make about 50 cups of coffee.
