These were utilised for a scientific assignment by my daughter and I. They still resisted her pounding her brushes into the artwork at times because she is still a little heavy handed with them. (She's 11 years old, not 5; by "mashing," I just mean applying pressure that is a little bit more than necessary for the brush being used.) These brushes were just delivered to me today. A huge clump of hair came out of the 5/0 Round brush when I was carefully brushing off the bristle fixative that maintains them in shape during shipping, as directed by the instructions in the packaging. I know how to handle brushes because I've been painting for a very long time. I was being VERY careful and just used cold water, not hot, and no soap. I was really looking forward to utilizing that particular brush, thus I was very disappointed by this.UPDATE: After speaking with the vendor, I wrote to them to let them know what happened. They sent me a brand-new set of brushes in the mail, which I received a few days later. No bristles that fall out! These brushes have a great grip and are a lot of fun to use on my miniature oil paintings. The very smallest fibers are fantastic for little details when you only need a drop of paint because they are not too "slippery" for me.

I bought them five months ago and considered leaving a negative review because the second flat brush lasted only a few weeks. The shaft split and fell apart, and the bristles wore out. It goes without saying that I was fairly irritated, but partially because I loved the brush so much. I use every brush in the kit because it is fairly versatile. The circular brushes work well for painting details, and they can all paint rather small details. The wide brushes are fantastic for base coats or creating topography, while the flat brushes are great for painting lines (or creating patterns like a checkerboard). Despite the fact that the #2 flat died, the other brushes are all still in fine shape, and at less than a dollar each, these are really remarkable.The small circular brushes have a few strands right at the point that aren't strong enough to retain any paint and just sort of tickle the model with wayward paint, so I would advise against using these. They now function perfectly after I trimmed off the last half millimeter or so. For the price of one Citidel brush, you can acquire two packs of these, which is something I would recommend to any warhammer painter.
