Batteries are batteries, and batteries work well. The CR2 battery has an odd size, but it does have a high capacity, I will admit. Given the choice, I wouldn't buy a gadget that requires this battery over a different battery because it's difficult to locate these anywhere outside Amazon, but isn't that why we're all here?

And because there is plastic in front AND IN BACK behind the paper, I actually had to cut the batteries out of the plastic. Seriously, no matter your age, this container is resistant to people. An adult shouldn't need ten minutes to just open a flat cell battery container. This is absurd. That is why, and not because of the batteries, I only gave 4 stars. However, the packaging is absurd.

These batteries appear to be genuine Energizer products, and they perform significantly better than generic 2032 batteries I've previously bought. The Thermapen thermometer I've been using with generic batteries barely lasted a month with light use, but these batteries have remained strong over several months of grilling. There is a two-letter date code on the package, however they are not marked with an expiration date. When I called Energizer to ask what the date code signified, they explained that it suggested that the product had been manufactured just 4 months prior to when they arrived at my door from "West Distribution."These batteries have not leaked, corroded, or otherwise failed while I've had them. They all have the same glossy appearance and appear to be of great quality. Testing button cell batteries is challenging since they nearly never register under three volts on a voltage meter when there is no load applied. These batteries read 3.0V with a 15K ohm load, which is consistent with the product datasheet from Energizer. The voltage drop was just as expected when I additionally tested one with a higher load by shorting it with a 100 ohm resistor for two seconds as instructed in the datasheet (starting at 3.25V, going down to 2.8V during the pulse, and recovering to about 3.15V).

I have a few outdated point-and-shoot Olympus film cameras that run on 123 3v batteries. A pack of two costs about ten dollars at the nearby grocery store. In the long run, ordering them online saves me three times as much money.I haven't checked the voltage on these, but given how little energy my camera uses, I suspect a tiny change in voltage will have an impact on how well it performs.Many of these reviews depict batteries that are improperly packaged or ones whose boxes have already been opened.
