Do automatic feeders scare big bucks?

Automatic feeders can be great for attracting deer to your property, but they can also scare big bucks away. If you're trying to attract big bucks, it's important to keep the feeder away from areas where they are likely to bed down or travel. You don't want the bucks to associate the feeder with danger.

Do mature bucks avoid feeders?

Mature bucks do avoid feeders for a variety of reasons. The most common reason is that they are simply not as interested in the food that is available at feeders. Bucks are also more likely to be cautious of areas where they may be more easily seen by predators. Additionally, mature bucks have more access to natural food sources and are less likely to visit feeders.

How high do you hang a gravity feeder for deer?

You will need to determine how high to hang your gravity feeder for deer based on the size of the feeder and the size of the deer. A good rule of thumb is to hang the feeder at least 10 feet off the ground, but no more than 20 feet. This will ensure that the deer can reach the feeder and that the feeder does not become a target for other animals.

How high should a fence be around a deer feeder?

A deer feeder should have a fence around it that is at least 6 feet high. The fence should be made of a material that will not allow the deer to see through it, such as wire mesh.

Moultrie Hanging Feeder Hoist | Chain-and-Bracket Design | 300 lb. Capacity Review:

Outstanding value for the money. The assembly of these is not difficult. I've now purchased three of these. The process of hanging the bracket from the tree is the only thing that I find challenging. To lift them up high enough, you need to utilize a ladder of some type. It can be difficult to raise the brackets with one hand while trying to hold them in place while you loop the chain around the tree trunk since they are just heavy enough to make it difficult. The best method I've discovered is to position the ladder behind the tree, climb up with the bracket, brace it against the ladder or tree, and then raise it into position while starting the chain around the trunk. Next, connect the chain. Of course, if you have assistance, two individuals make the process simple.

Moultrie Tripod Feeders Review:

I purchased this deer feeder so that it could automatically feed my chickens and waterfowl each day. Very well done! How long my feed will remain active after I program and populate it is a wonderful feature. It evenly disperses the meal, which stops my geese from harassing my ducks. The birds are becoming used to this new pattern and now run away as soon as the feeder sounds. It can be filled from the ground because it is the perfect height, but since I find it difficult to lift a 50-pound bag that high, I fill it with a bucket instead. About 150 lbs of my scratch grains and corn fit inside. I'm incredibly happy with it and may soon purchase another to amuse my pigs!

Wildgame Innovations TREEHUGGER80 Tree Hugger Gravity Deer Feeder, 80-Lb. Capacity Review:

This product is excellent. Initially purchased one, but now intend to purchase several to cover all of my hunting locations. I estimate that it will require about 80 pounds of corn or 100 pounds of bran. The first night, deer approached it without hesitation. The feeder was simple for me to set up on my own, but I'll bring my kid next time so he can carry the entire load of corn, haha. Since it's constructed of the same material as a dry bag I own, I assume it will do a good job of keeping the grain dry until it leaves the feeder.

Moultrie Feed Station Pro | Gravity Feeder | UV-Resistant Plastic | 80 lb. Capacity | Weeping Holes | Straps Included Review:

The larger feeder was bought so we could leave something out for the deer who frequent our property in the winter. This was simple to erect and replenish. It is firmly attached to the tree by the straps. We have never experienced an issue with an animal or the wind disrupting the feeder or the cover of the feeder because the lid fits firmly. Cobs remain dry.I hoped that placing little amounts of corn on the ground near the feeder would entice the deer and direct them there. Within a few days, the deer discovered it. They typically visit now twice a day. To allow for more than one or two birds to eat the corn at once, I attached the smaller feeder to another nearby tree.

Wildgame Innovations Varmint Feeder Cage Review:

I got this to deter crows, grackles, and blue jays from using my yard's tray feeders. I left mealworms out for the bluebirds (second family this Spring is on the way....) Within a short period of time, Carolina Wrens, Chickadees, Titmice, and the aggressive birds had finished all the food. I purchased two of your cages in the hopes that I might modify them by adding a bottom for use. Perfect they are! The birds are more beautiful than they are, though! Thanks a lot!

Moultrie MFG-13053 Pro Hunter Quick-Lock Feeder Kit Review:

For more than 20 years, I've used Moultrie feeders, and each time, I received good life and use out of them. Not technical problems, but bears or loggers, have been the main causes of my losses. These were purchased to replace two that were attacked by bears the previous year. The new rapid mount system is great. It made replacing the one that had it but was damaged rather simple. If you have a large barrel and want to bring your feeder in but don't necessarily want to truck in the entire thing, it's also a good feature for the off-season.These have excellent battery life. I often get well over a year out of a quality battery when I throw twice each day. One that has been tossing after two years is ready to get a new battery because it's past due. Many users say that they didn't receive the fast connect mount, although the parts are actually in the feeder's housing. Maybe that could be made a little bit clearer on the packaging.Over the years, I've experimented with a few different feeder brands, but I always come back to Moultrie. They are trustworthy and inexpensive.

Moultrie Pro Magnum Deer Feeder Kit | All Metal Housing | Built-in Varmint Guard | Battery Indicator Review:

I BOUGHT 5 OF THESE FEEDERS FOR THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN BUYING THE MOULTRIE PRO MAGNUM DEER FEEDERS, AND WHEN CONNECTING BATTERIES TO OPERATE, THREE DID NOT WORK. On two, there were no digital numbers displayed, and on one, a fully charged battery displayed the number 6 backwards all the way across. REMOVE THE TWO SCREWS AT THE TOP OF THE DIGITAL BOARD, AND THERE IS A SMALL RESET BUTTON ON THE BACK, SO DO NOT WORRY. APPEARS LIKE I AWAKENED THEM FROM SLEEP MODE. ALL THREE RETURNED AND ARE IN GOOD WORKING ORDER. I'm happy with them thus far. HOPE THIS IS USEFUL. THKS

Moultrie Pro Hunter Hanging Deer Feeder | 30-Gallon | Pro Hunter Feeder Kit | 200 lb. Capacity Review:

It was a little challenging, in my opinion, for one person to secure the motor bracket to the feeder. The task of holding the bolts in place while the nuts are joined is not difficult, just difficult to reach within the feeder. I really like the way the motor is made and how simple it is to set the timer to distribute feed. The lid design is not very appealing. A spring tension mechanism might be used to lock the lid onto the feeder in place of the bolt used to tighten the tension band around the lid. Batteries are not necessary with the feeder when I have a lot of sunlight because I use the Moultri Solar Power Pack. The battery was added as a backup system even though the machine can distribute feed without one. A Moultri Green Hog light can be screwed into the bottom of the feeder using the motor cover, which is another feature I enjoy.

Wildgame Innovations W225D Tri-Pod Digital Feeder, 225-Lb. Poly Barrel, 30-Gals Review:

I currently own 3 of these, and only 1 of them has timer problems. Simply return the entire package if your timer is defective. Replace the timer just because all the other well-known timers are complete junk. The only reliable timer I could find cost $65 and didn't fit in the battery-operated timer box. Fortunately, I'm skilled with sheet metal, so I created a box to hold the battery that would attach to the back of the feeder box. Works perfectly right now.Two of my feeders are from Academy, and one is from Amazon. As of now, the Amazon model is perfect. Additionally, this is significantly less expensive than an academy.ADVICE: Unless you enjoy changing feeding schedules or struggle to keep schedules, DO NOT USE the alligator clamps. All of it is the result of loose connections. Use inexpensive insulated female spade lugs in place of alligator clips. They will never be simple to remove.- To prevent it from being knocked over, tie a T-post to the legs of your feeder. Simply drive the post in so that the wings are buried.- When the feeder is standing up, insert all three legs and apply upward pressure to the third leg. To keep the other 2 legs from separating, they should stay rooted to the earth. Without the tape trick, quite simple to perform alone.-Be sure to thoroughly clean the feeder after each usage. Some corn won't funnel down properly, and as it rots, it provides a favorable breeding ground for maggots. Use my word for it!

Moultrie Pro Hunter Hanging Deer Feeder | 6.5-Gallon | Pro Hunter Feeder Kit | 40 lb. Capacity Review:

This feeder works perfectly for me, but there are two minor flaws that I should highlight that didn't change my rating. If you're not careful, you can receive a wet surprise when you lower the lid to fill it because it accumulates rain. LOLThe software that calculates how long it will take to empty the feeder based on your specified feeding schedules is also a problem, but what does it matter? As long as I don't alter the feeding schedules, I check the feeder every two weeks, and I quickly learn when to replace it.The option to customize the feed schedule every hour or so to only trickle a little corn with 6 different time periods is one thing I truly like. Thus, there will always be fresh corn in the ground as the deer pass by. There is always corn available because I configured it to release 4 seconds of feed at 7 am, 1 second at 9 am, 1 second at 11 am, 1 second at 1 pm, 1 second at 3 pm, and 2 seconds at 4 pm. For obvious reasons, I don't set it to feed at night because I don't want the deer to come out much at night. They learn from this that corn is constantly accessible during the day. The turkeys, hogs, and bears can't just take it all unless they choose to stay around all day, thus my method appears to be working.

How high should the roof be on a deer feeder?

The height of the roof on a deer feeder should be high enough to keep the feed dry and protected from the elements, but low enough to allow deer to easily reach the feed.

How long does it take deer to find a feeder?

It can take deer a few days to a week to find a new feeder. If the feeder is in an area where deer already travel, they will find it sooner. If the feeder is in a new area, it may take longer for deer to find it.

How many feeders are needed per acre for deer?

The answer to this question will vary depending on the situation. For example, if you are trying to attract deer to a specific area, you may need more feeders per acre than if you already have a large population of deer in the area. A general rule of thumb is to have one feeder per 10-20 acres, but this can vary depending on the amount of food available and the number of deer in the area.

Is a deer feeder a good idea?

If you live in an area with a large deer population, a deer feeder can be a good way to attract them to your property. Deer are naturally curious creatures, so they will often investigate anything new that they see in their environment. If you place a deer feeder in a spot where they regularly travel, they will eventually become accustomed to it and may even start to visit it on a regular basis. There are a few things to keep in mind if you decide to put out a deer feeder. First, make sure the feeder is placed in a safe location away

Should I cut up apples for deer?

No, you don't need to cut up apples for deer. Deer are able to eat apples whole and will often do so when they find them in the wild. If you're looking to attract deer to your yard or garden, simply leaving out a few whole apples will do the trick.

What attracts deer more than corn?

There are a few things that deer love more than corn. One of those things is acorns. Acorns are high in fat and protein, which deer need to survive the winter. Another thing that deer love is salt. Salt is essential for deer, and they will go out of their way to find it. Finally, deer love the taste of fresh, green vegetation. This is why they are often seen eating flowers and young plants.
