I've had my eye on a bottle cutter for a while now; in fact, I've amassed an entire bookshelf's worth of wine bottles for cutting and reuse. While completing other DIY tasks, I finally made the purchase and am so glad I did!This bottle cutting set was delivered exactly as it had been. There was no assembly necessary other than screwing on the L-shaped backing to hold the wine bottle's bottom in place. The rollers needed to be installed, according to reviews of some other bottle cutter sets I looked at, but not with this one.I did as follows:1. To remove the bottle labels, I soaked them in warm water, scrubbed the paper off with steel wool, and then used Goo Gone to get rid of the glue. Before cutting, I dried the bottles in the sun.2. Depending on where I wanted to score the bottle, I repositioned the L shapes.3. I firmly applied pressure to the bottle as it rolled on the rollers in order to brand it with the blade. repeat for every bottle.4. I used two techniques to separate the bottle ends:A. I followed the directions and utilized the hot water and ice procedure.B. Before adding ice, I warmed the bottle over a candle (as shown in the image).I only sliced 6 bottles, so I can't say which method is more effective based on the tiny sample size. However, all of my bottles did separate without breaking.5. I'm only getting started in stained glass, like I said. However, I can share with you what they said in class concerning this particular glass cutter. They said that because this glass cutter's blade is not carbide, it will not survive as long as a carbide blade. All I can say is that I requested the Toyo cutter with the carbide blade, and cutting glass with it is 100 times better and easier. It was simpler to maneuver the cutter on curves and I didn't have to apply as much pressure on the glass. Even if the glass cutter didn't work, I decided it was a safe bet to at least acquire the pliers and carrying case for this amount. The running pliers are effective thus far. Although I haven't mastered the art of grozing yet, I believe that pliers will be adequate for the job once I figure it out. But rather than getting this, I would advise getting the Toyo for cutting glass. Additionally, this glass cutter has a huge blade head that is at least 4 times bigger than the Toyo's! Additionally, I wasn't sure what the first description meant when it mentioned extra rubber tips because I received an additional cutting head with the kit but no additional rubber tips. Even though the grip oil feed cutting tool isn't worth the money, I believe the package, which consists of the carrying bag and the two sets of pliers, is. I removed their cutting tool and placed the Toyo inside while also carrying other items.

Because I've seen videos before, I used this cutter without following the directions at first. I cut myself several times and destroyed a number of bottles. I finished reading the directions, and I was beginning to understand how to cut bottles safely without harming myself. I did purchase additional sand paper, which was quite beneficial for the rims. Gloves are a must when working with glass, however this item doesn't come with any. Although it can take some time, sanding the freshly cut surface is well worth the effort. I've been restoring a 120-year-old house for the past 15 years; I'm not a professional glass cutter, but as we finish the single-pane windows, I occasionally have to cut a piece of glass. I've been using an ancient, red, steel-wheel glass cutter for virtually the whole period, with only fair success. I decided to attempt this glass cutter after seeing the larger, self-oiling models on YouTube.Two glass cutters arrived in a parcel, and they were very large. They don't actually have plastic handles, despite what the description claims. It's a welcome surprise that they're all brass. The heads are fitted with a spring arrangement, which makes it appear as though pressing down might activate the lubrication system. That also turned out to be a falsehood, but we'll get to that in a moment. I took the entire thing apart to figure out what was going on since I didn't like how the heads could swivel a little bit when I was trying to draw a straight line. The handle is hollow, and the hollow tip feeds into the hollow head. There is only a small amount of fuzz at the tip to prevent oil from simply gushing out. The spring action doesn't activate anything; it's a continuous feed. So, after reassembling it, I fully compressed the spring and tightened the set screw until the head was snug against the handle. I reattached the ball after adding some 3 in 1 oil to the back end. More tinkering revealed that you need to back the ball off slightly in order to get the oil to flow. I then pulled out some broken glass.I've used an ancient steel-wheel cutter for the most of my cutting, as I've already mentioned. To get it to score the glass, I had to apply a lot of pressure. The crack would then wander when I finally snapped the glass, leaving me with an unusable chunk. I cried, cursed, and prayed over those cuts, only to experience repeated frustration.Not using this cutter.I used light to medium pressure and held it like a pencil to make the first cut, which resulted in a perfect line being scored. The glass pieces broke into two pieces. I chuckled. I enjoyed every cut I made. I was cutting in a variety of directions—straight, wavy, short, and long. The carbide wheel handled everything. Then I tried my arch-enemy, a 3/8-inch strip severed from a pane's end. It came off in a snap a la Kit Kat bar. Beautiful. I felt like a glass-cutting master!Although I haven't used a $30 glass cutter, I doubt it could be much better than this. The ease with which the cutter really slices glass cannot be emphasized and outweighs any of the other minor flaws I've highlighted. I'm not entirely sold on the self-oiling aspect; it might be less hassle to just dip it in oil before each cut.

For cutting bottlenecks, this glass bottle cutter is quite simple to adjust. especially the curved portion between the body and the bottleneck (I recommend that you check out their "How To Adjust" Video.)
