In order to recover from Hurricane Irma in the Florida Keys 16 months later, ten reels that were all harmed by the storm had to be re-spooled. From 8 lb test spinning reels to 80 lb test deep sea reels, they were available. This is never a fun task to do! Simply too time-consuming, and more so for spinning reels, it typically ends in some twisted line. That work was undoubtedly made easier and much more bearable by this tiny instrument. It takes one or two reels to learn the tempo required to get the spool to spin at the right speed for that specific reel. However, the line winds without tangling and fast. Although I anticipated that my spinning reels would fit on the apparatus, I never anticipated being able to put a 9/0 Penn Senator. It handled it without issue and made it much simpler to add 700 yards of 80 pound braid. Compared to the traditional technique of spooling off a pencil or having someone hold the spool and apply thumb stress to the line as the reel is rotated, this method is tightly packed. It would be ideal if they could only find a method to automate the reel so it turns without requiring 700 yards to be manually cranked.

If I could have made the Spooler operate flawlessly without requiring any minor alterations, I would have given it a perfect five-star rating. In order to spool mono and braided line from a 2.75 inch spool onto a spinning reel, I tried to attach it to an Ugly Stick GX2 rod. I experienced the same issue as other reviews in that the Spooler was striking the rod while it rotated. It was more difficult to attach to the rod while using the clamp in the convex position because it seemed to throw everything out of line. I thus super-glued a small piece of rubbery material in the clamp's centre (see pic). This allowed me to securely fasten the Spooler to the rod and allowed the Spooler to revolve without running into the rod. Now that the Spooler is working so well, I was quickly able to load two spinning reels. I would advise the maker to reconsider including a bit extra cushioning in the clamp to allow for thinner rods. Overall, the Spooler is a high-quality product that performs as promised. It's good, and I highly advise buying it.

My purchase was placed on April 10 and it came on April 11! I relined eight spinning and casting reels. The spoolers fall loose if the suction cup is forged. This one has a clamp, and I fastened my own to a table leaf that folded in half.The spooler's nut must be tightened with a 9/16 wrench, and it screws into the clamp. Everything went smoothly. I did discover that adjusting the line spool a little bit more helped to prevent line overruns when using mono or fluoro. Making a braided line is simple. A couple of tips for those who might not be aware: while adding line to a casting reel, have the line cross the top of the spool, and when adding line to a spinning reel, have the line come off the bottom of the spool. As a result, line twist during respooling is reduced. Boaters should always cast new line into the water without any lures.In order to run the line on dry land before reeling it in, shore fisherman can add a large nut to the line. Years ago, a professional angler taught me that when using spinning reels, I should never close the bail with the reel handle because doing so adds some twist to the line. Hand-close the bail.Finally, considering how inexpensive this instrument is, you won't need a partner to handle the pencil and spool.

Amazing addition to my fishing equipment. This is a simple tool that eliminates all the frustration I used to have when re-lining my reels on my own. I've tried using spoolers that fit on a pole and, of course, holding a pen or pencil through the spool with my foot, but neither of those ways worked very well. With this spooler, I can re-line all of my reels in an hour or less. The suction cup sticks well to smooth, flat surfaces, and assembly only requires that you slide the line spool onto the rod. With the help of a tension spring and wing nut, you can also change how tightly the line is wound on the reel, which is important to me and the other guys I've spoken to. When I'm going to be away from home for a day or longer, I use my backpack to carry my important items. This spooler is small and fits into it, plus it is made of excellent materials and workmanship. I've used it at least a dozen times and it continues to function just as well as it did when I first got it. I don't see any reason why this won't last for years, even when used to re-line the reels for the entire family, which amounts to around 12 reels a year. This spooler is a terrific bargain and money well spent due to its high quality and convenience.

Due to my concern that they would be too wide and cumbersome, I was hesitant to purchase these. I believe there should be some additional images that don't make things appear to be so enormous. I didn't realize it fit like a glove and was a terrific complement until I heard about a guy who had the same rod as me. (I own a Sawtooth rod from Tenkara Rod Co.)This is NOT too large or heavy. In actuality, it fits perfectly. It is long enough to wound your line rapidly while being compact enough to not be cumbersome or heavy. Only twice have I used it while fishing, and neither time did I even realize it was there. And where I frequently go, there are many trees, making it challenging to navigate with a 12-foot rod, especially at night. (Yes, I believe that I remain too long.) These made it enjoyable to stroll through the trees.One of my better purchases was this one.
