Fantastic! This DAC satisfied my search for one with a volume knob, digital inputs, and balanced outputs for connecting my studio speakers and subwoofer. I used to work as a semi-pro musician and audio engineer, and I like to listen to music in the evenings while checking email and doing research for a new career. Additionally, learning new songs and choosing bass lines are still enjoyable. My old audio interface's quality was OK, but I wanted something that wouldn't interfere with careful listening.I turned up the volume on my sub and monitors to 4db and cranked up this bad boy. I clearly recognized the change in quality on my favorite songs after using the same equipment for five years. Instead of writing an audio review using buzzwords like "tight" and "crisp," I'll just mention that it's beneficial to be obstruction-free. The fine-tune tweaks on my monitors finally served a purpose, and I would feel much more at ease if I were back in the studio. Cheaper equipment frequently muffles /- 2db EQ tweaks, but the DacMagic Plus made them audible. With kids napping, I can distinguish the difference even at low level.Thanks to this gadget, I was able to confirm my dislike for a certain pair of headphones.The Ground Lift is useful and functional because I was seeing digital distortion with both my previous soundcard and the motherboard soundcard.A volume out meter would have been nice. When switching between headphones and speakers and adding a visual to the audio, it may be simpler to determine where the gear is optimum and where my own or my wife's threshold is. However, I have no idea what amount of output I'm at. I tried turning up the volume as loud as possible and using the mouse and keyboard audio controls to operate the software mixer, but those methods are less exact and resulted in compressed sound. Therefore, I'm utilizing the Cambridge's volume knob while running software at maximum output over USB, 4 on the analog knobs.Normally, I'm dubious about audio equipment like this, but I can clearly tell a difference, so I'm glad.Edited on October 16, 2016There is a well read review that claims the highs are strong. Even though I'm becoming older, I still have the ability to hear a 20 kHz sine wave. I'm still increasing my highs by 2 db.

I didn't realise I had ordered them, but I certainly suggest purchasing the PCB connector things with the circuit spacers to go with them. So, rather of having to resolder these chips, you can simply pull them off. On a 5v circuit that supplied power to a guitar and output to headphones, I had one of these overheating and failing. For these, I wish I had heat wells as well (because they need them).
