Swim socks are not a requirement for triathlon, but they can certainly be worn if you prefer. There are a few things to keep in mind if you do choose to wear socks, however. First, your feet will likely get wetter in socks than if you went without them. This means that you'll need to make sure your shoes are well-ventilated to avoid any uncomfortable rubbing or chafing. Additionally, you'll want to make sure your socks are made of a quick-drying material so that they don't weigh you down during the swim portion of the race
No, you do not need your own bike for a triathlon. You can use a bike from a friend, a bike rental shop, or even a bike share program. The important thing is that you are comfortable with the bike and that it is the right size for you.
Tri suits are designed to be hydrodynamic, which means they help you float in water. They are made from a special material that is lightweight and quick-drying, and they have a snug fit that reduces drag. While they won't make you float like a buoy, they will help you swim faster and with less effort.
Some triathletes do choose to run without socks, and there are a few reasons why they might make this choice. First, socks can add extra weight and bulk to your shoes, which can be especially troublesome when you're already carrying a lot of gear with you on a long race. Additionally, some runners find that socks can cause blisters, so going sockless can help prevent that issue. Finally, some athletes simply prefer the feel of running without socks. If you're considering running sockless, be sure to experiment with it during training first to see how your feet respond.

Male, 5'7", 155 lbs., with measurements of 38" chest, 32" waist, and 30" inseam. placed a Medium order.I ultimately sent this suit back due to fit, but I still think it's a sturdy suit that you would appreciate if you have a slightly bigger torso than I do.This item offers excellent leg compression. The compression of this suit is comparable to that of the 2XU Men's Elite MCS Compression Shorts, which I've worn while running. Though not identical, they are comparable. Because of that, I believe the bottom would have been incredibly cozy during lengthy runs. Although I didn't swim, ride, or run in it, I could see how the lower body would have benefitted from my performance in those activities. The top body was the reason I gave it back. If I had ordered a small, the bottom would have been too tight because the top was too loose. The top didn't compress at all, so I knew I would have experienced chaffing beneath my arms and on my nipples. Although remarkably, I found the lower body compression on the 2XU suit to be lacking even though it's technically the same size as the compression shorts I ordered from that company. I had also ordered the 2XU Men's Elite Compression Trisuit, Medium, Charcoal/Pacific Blue, and found the torso/chest compression on that suit to be superior. The way the zipper is shielded on this garment also differs noticeably. When the zipper is fully closed, there is no fabric to cover the top of the zipper closure; nevertheless, there is fabric inside to prevent your skin from rubbing against the zipper seam. As several have recommended, you may just gently unzip the garment so that the zipper isn't in contact with your skin. You'll probably experience better compression up top and find this to be a decent suit if you have a larger torso.

I chose to try triathlons this summer after competing in cycling races for more than 30 years. These shorts were purchased for pool training and my first sprint triathlon. At 6'2" and 180 lbs, the big was extremely comfortable on me; it was snug without being compression-tight. I've been wearing these three times a week to the neighborhood gym/pool for the past three months or so to get used to racing in them and to start swimming again after 20 years away. Although I am aware that using a pool is not advised, so far they have not shown any signs of failing. These don't start scooping water like a good pair of jammers; they stay snug and close to my body. I didn't give the cushioning a second thought during the swim or run because it is more than sufficient for at least the 14 miles of the triathlon's bike portion. Overall, I really like these shorts, and when they wear out from the chlorine, I won't think twice about buying another pair.

It is a pretty great product, especially for the price! It worked well for my first sprint triathlon that I participated in a couple of weeks ago!It dries VERY rapidly, doesn't interfere with running, and is VERY comfy for swimming. This suit is a great option if you don't want to spend a lot of money on a fancier one.The only challenge I encountered was choosing the proper size. I weigh 70 kg and stand 171 cm. My measurements seemed just in between M and L, so I wasn't sure how tight it would be (hips and waist large, bust M). I chose the large one since I didn't want to be surprised (i.e., unable to get it to fit up on my legs or butt). The big was alright, but I think the medium would have fit me much better. I currently feel no compression, and the top is a tiny bit slack (definitely have to wear a sports bra underneath).Although the lycra appears to be a little thinner than I had anticipated, it is definitely NOT "transparent"! Don't stress over it! Just wondering how long it'll go on for. I intend to use it for a few more races this season (one olympic distance tri and a half-iron). Let's see if it can make it through my incredibly brief season.:)

I am 32 inches in waist, 5'9" tall, and weigh 173 pounds. The medium that I purchased fits nicely. These shorts have only been worn for riding and running. Given that I purchased them for training purposes and that I prefer to swim in one-piece swimsuits (sorry, no silly white banner on my legs! ), I am highly unlikely to ever use them while swimming.Pros: Triathlon shorts are reasonably priced. It includes two side pockets that are useful for holding gels, car keys, and MP3 players. It has a drawstring and an elastic waistline.Compression is provided. It appears to be high-quality.It did not slither up.Cons: I didn't like the waist since it keeps folding and is a little higher on me. You might be fine whether you have a six-pack or no tummy.I ran for 7 kilometers, and at some point, my penis started to feel a little uncomfortable. Because the pad's material is less flexible than some other triathlon shorts I own and does not mold as well, my penis can move around a little bit. Also, compared to my other triathlon shorts, the front padding area is larger.Updated on August 7, 2016: These shorts were excellent for my training ride of 31 kilometers on the bike. They are, in my opinion, far superior for bicycling than for running. I'll add one more star.

UPDATED: In this suit, I just finished my first Sprint Triathlon, and it worked AMAZINGLY well! The padding was more than adequate for the 15-mile bike ride, and it fit perfectly and dried faster than I had anticipated. I'm delighted I didn't choose the $130 "Specialty shop" option, and I'd suggest this item to any newbie. I'm eager for my upcoming race in this outfit!I had just started competing in triathlons, therefore I required a suit for my initial participation. Afraid about making a big financial commitment, I ordered this based on recommendations. I am 6' 215 and definitely not in ship condition (44" chest, 36" waist). I'm a wonderful fit in the XXL! The material is elegant and not as thin as I had worried. It effectively conceals everything, and the black and gray even made my midsection look thinner. Other than being somewhat smaller (less area) than my regular riding shorts, the chamois seemed to be adequate. Great to have 4 storage pockets!Since they have an open top and are a little small, they might cause some drag in the water, but I'm not too worried about that. I can say I am really happy with the possibilities of this suit based on my first concerns following a ton of research (after trying on MUCH more expensive options in the specialist stores). After my first event, if it holds together and performs well, I'll give it a fifth star! Although I'm sure I'll upgrade as I learn more about this sport, $50 is an excellent initial investment. For now, Sparx and the seller are appreciated.

I am between 5'6" and 5'7" tall and weigh between 118 and 130 pounds. EXCELLENT!! My former professional triathlon team had custom-made jerseys that were provided when we competed. I relocated, and now I compete in triathlons alone. I wasn't sure if I should get a great suit. This one is flawless! (I purchased another one from another source and detested it.) The neckline doesn't droop down for the bike, there is no drag in the water, etc. It is cut extremely effectively. The inside of the shorts' hem has silicone bands to keep it from slipping up, yet they are not too tight to be unpleasant. Although I initially believed the suit to be black, it is actually more of a dark navy color (but I am tired of everything black, so this was a nice surprise). Although I can feel a tiny bit of rubbing where the zipper stops at the top, the hems are completely smooth. My chest has been tanned for a while, so that may be the reason. I wear a size A, which obviously fits my rather flat chest area, and it fits me perfectly. I believe it would still fit comfortably if I were a larger B. You may feel the straps pressing on your shoulders if they are anything larger than a C or more. (However, if you are shorter than I am, being a B or C won't be a problem for you.) On the inside of the chest area, there is no cushioning, netting, or anything else. I'm still thinking whether to race in just the suit and without a sports bra. This suit only cost a little under $50, which is amazing considering that the other outfits I was intending to order to test on ranged in price from $85 to $150.

Need an affordable, high-quality triathlon wetsuit that has been endorsed by athletes and Ironman? Synergy wetsuits outperform everyone in a sea of expensive suits! The hardest part about choosing this suit is determining which size will fit you correctly because the Synergy Volution full wetsuit is new and super stretchy, fits like a second skin, is stretchy enough to go on without dramatic gymnastics, has great coverage, is cold water tested (early summer conditions in Tahoe are about 45 degrees), feels seamless inside, AND sits below a $200 price point. AND because the customer's survival is so AMAZING, you can ask them directly rather than relying on speculation. If you have any questions, feel free to contact them by phone or email. If you're fortunate enough to live nearby, you can make an appointment to go in for a fitting where the staff not only assists you in choosing the appropriate size but also helps you try it on. A first-time wetsuit try-on will require some "handling," and they are skilled at making the process as comfortable as possible.Excellent fitting and try-on instructions as well as some useful advice on how to maintain and store your suit are also included in the box. Some tip for when you're trying on the suits: try to stay as cold and dry as you can. Think early, cold, and dry before suiting up. Afternoons or post-workouts when you're hot and sweaty are sure to result in a hot and sweaty mess, which is the exact opposite of ideal try-on conditions.Use gardening gloves with rubber fingertips if you have fingernails to assist prevent suit punctures. It's difficult to find any drawbacks for the price, but my main gripe is that the cost makes me desire more than one style—hardly a drawback!fits all body types and sizes - as one example I have a swimmer's frame at 5'8" and 170 lbs., with broad shoulders and big hips. I'm at ease in a size W3... I tried the WX initially because I was concerned about the length of my torso and hips being accommodated, but I had too much fabric at the shoulders and back; as a result, the W3 fits much more snugly without sacrificing length.I'm very excited to go into the chilly water in my Synergy suit and keep warm and cozy! I hope this aids you in locating your ideal fit!Cheers to swimming!

This bag is incredibly little, roughly the size of a huge banana, as another reviewer noted. When loaded with a 700c tube, a little CO2 pump, and levers, it fights to zip shut. However, it has an extremely aerodynamic appearance that complements Tri-bike design. Think carefully before adding anything to it. Although my seat wedge bag's contents wouldn't all fit in this bag, you won't likely find anything more stylish for the money. There are four straps, and one of them actually wrap around the stem, making it quite secure and immobile.

My first pair of neoprene shorts were these swim trunks, and they are very great. They are really simple to get into, and after my swim, I simply peel them off before washing them. My legs and hips are effortlessly lifted by the trunks, and observing that has made me aware of areas I need to improve in my freestyle stroke. They have a broad range of motion and are comfortable. My stroke has significantly improved because when I use them, I can relax about attempting to keep my hips and legs up in the water (I have regular shorts to practice such abilities). Instead, I can focus on my arm movements. I'm not sure if your sports gear should make you eager to complete laps or train, but these trunks have succeeded in accomplishing precisely that for me. They've been great for the one and only chlorinated pool I've used them for (washing them after each use). As soon as I work these trunks into the ground, I will be pleased to purchase another set (or water). I did had to purchase a size larger than normal, but doing so has resulted in a pair of shorts that fits me quite well.

The shorts are fantastic. I've worn these shorts in the same form for years, so I'm relieved that they won't undergo any significant modifications. Although slightly shifted, side pockets still function effectively. All rides between 10 and 100 miles are fantastic for chamois. Legs don't also ride up. I'll keep purchasing these!
Most triathletes do not wear cycling gloves because they are not necessary and they can be uncomfortable. However, some triathletes do wear them because they help with grip and comfort.
Yes, you do need to change clothes in a triathlon. You will need to have a change of clothes for the swim portion and the bike portion. You will also need to have a set of clothes for the run portion.
Whether or not you change shoes during a triathlon is personal preference. Some people feel more comfortable running in shoes that are specific to running, while others find that they can get by with wearing the same shoes for the entire race. Ultimately, it is up to the individual to decide what works best for them.
When you are in the middle of a triathlon, the last thing you want to think about is food. However, if you don't eat during the race, you will not have the energy you need to finish. It is important to find a balance between eating too much and not eating enough. The best time to eat during a triathlon is during the bike portion. You should have a small snack before the race, and then eat something every 20 minutes or so during the bike leg. Don't try to eat too much at once, or you will feel sick. Stick
A tri suit is not a necessity for a triathlon, but it will make your experience more comfortable. A tri suit is designed to be comfortable and practical for swimming, biking, and running. It is made of a lightweight and quick-drying material that will keep you cool and comfortable during the race. If you are new to triathlons, we recommend renting or borrowing a tri suit to see if it is right for you.
There's no definitive answer to this question - it depends on the water temperature and your personal preference. Some triathletes choose to wear a wetsuit over their tri suit, while others don't. If you're not sure what to do, ask a more experienced triathlete or your coach for advice.
