Best Yo-Yos in 2022

Last update: December 10, 2022

Are yoyos still popular?

Yes, yoyos are still popular. They've been around for centuries, and people are still finding new ways to enjoy them. There are even competitions held every year to see who can do the most impressive tricks with a yoyo.

Can I start with an unresponsive yoyo?

If your yoyo is unresponsive, it means that the yoyo will not sleep (spin at the end of the string) and you will have to tug the string to make it return. An unresponsive yoyo is not ideal for beginners, as it requires a bit more skill to use. However, if you are determined to start with an unresponsive yoyo, there are a few things you can do to make the learning process easier. First, make sure you have a good quality yoyo. A cheap yoyo will be more difficult to use

Can responsive yoyos sleep?

There is no definitive answer to this question since responsive yoyos can vary so much in design. Some responsive yoyos may be able to sleep while others may not. Ultimately, it will depend on the individual yoyo and how it is constructed.

How do you use a yoyo for beginners?

If you've never played with a yoyo before, don't worry! It's easy to get started. Just follow these simple steps and you'll be yoyo-ing in no time. 1. Put the yoyo on your middle finger. The yoyo should be sitting on top of your finger, with the string wrapped around the bottom of your finger. 2. Hold the yoyo in your hand and give the string a good flick. The yoyo should start spinning. 3. Once the yoyo is spinning

MAGICYOYO Professional Responsive Yoyo V3, Aluminum Yo Yo for Kids Beginner, Replacement Unresponsive Ball Bearing for Advanced Yoyo Players + Removal Bearing Tool + Bag + 5 Yoyo Strings Review:

It's a really great yo-yo at a great price. Oh my God, it's strong; I accidentally banged it against a counter at full speed, yet it escaped unharmed. Young children should not use it because it is incredibly harmful (it should be fine for a 12-year-old). However, take care when handling the axel because it can be lost easily, gets stuck easily, and is difficult to remove without the proper equipment. My got stuck the day I acquired it, and I still haven't gotten it unstuck. However, mine continues to play even when it is stuck. You'll be fine if you use caution when playing. Also, be careful when playing the rope because it could break in the middle of your game.I haven't had any issues with it yet, and it's quite enjoyable and strong, but I believe in the business. I hope you found that useful.

Flight Pro Triple Bearing Medium 5” Blue Chinese Yoyo Diabolo Toy with Carbon Sticks Review:

Since they became the newest and greatest thing at his middle school, my kid has been requesting one. I refrained since I know it will eventually find its way into a corner, much like his rainbow loom and his kendama. The most essential thing he wanted to buy with his money was the Amazon gift card his aunt had given him for his birthday. Although I don't understand why he is drawn to it, the fact that he has stopped complaining about needing gadgets and is ready to play with it OUTSIDE for an absurdly long time makes it a success in my book. The only drawback is that his entire body now hurts to the point where I had to assist him in performing some egoscue stretches.

Yomega The Original Brain - Professional Yoyo for Kids and Beginners, Responsive Auto Return Yo Yo Best for String Tricks + Extra 2 Strings & 3 Month Warranty (Blue) Review:

I used this while purchasing it for my son. It's not a wonderful yoyo, but it's good. The spring loaded weights, which resemble a couple of ball bearings, need to be thrown with a little extra force in order to force the bearings out, create spin, and return with a snap. Although it's simple for an adult to perform, because the yo-yo only has weights on one side, I find that it skews when the weights are dragging one side over. When I was little, I had yo-yos that had weights on each sides to keep them more balanced. In general, it's a good place to start. You won't spend much money with this, and if you can pick up a few tricks, you'll have fun, but I'd suggest upgrading to one with better balance and weights on both sides.

MAGICYOYO Professional Unresponsive Yoyo N11 Alloy Aluminum YoYo Ball (Black with Golden) with Bag, Glove and 5 Strings Review:

I should preface this by saying that I am at best a novice when it comes to yo-yos, so it may not be the product's fault, but the bearings seem to be pretty loud. Even after being lubricated, they continued to make a lot of noise. That's not to say that it's a horrible yo-yo; it taught me how to put binds on a yo-yo that wasn't responding, and it still functions quite well. Perhaps it's just me, but it doesn't seem to be very balanced; frequently, it would start spinning, forcing me to untangle the thread. Overall though, I'd say it's fairly nice considering the price, goods included, and ease of use.

MAGICYOYO Responsive YoYo K1-Plus with Yoyo Sack + 3 Strings and Yo-Yo Glove Gift (Blue) Review:

purchased two of these. One has a few knobs that could use a little tightening, but it's not a deal-breaker. The yoyo sleeps quite well for a $10 yoyo and has a nice weight on it. Because the edges are well rounded, it doesn't hurt as bad as many others. It's actually rather good with a little adjustment. For those who are complaining about the auto-return mechanism, there is none; the system is simply responsive. It could sleep for a little bit longer if it had a better bearing. All in all, a fantastic practice yoyo. With little effort, I was able to teach my 11-year-old several techniques with it.Overall: Get a Duncan if you're shopping for your first yo-yo. I can still perform nearly all tasks with a standard Duncan butterfly or imperial. There's no need for anything spectacular. Once you've mastered the fundamentals, this is a fantastic, economical option if you're ready to go to something that is more comfortable, enjoyable, and simple. Although it isn't perfect, it is an excellent yo-yo for the money.

Duncan Reflex Auto Return Yo-Yo (Color may vary) Review:

We had to locate a yo-yo that would give my daughter a little "assistance" because she requested one for her third birthday. She still has trouble with it because we had to cut and re-tie the string due to her little size. But even though I'm bad at yo-yoing, I can perform this one with ease. It consistently works. A crimson one was given to us.

Duncan Toys Limelight Led Light-Up Yo-Yo, Varying Colors Review:

Wonderful and a lot of fun! As I was strolling down memory lane as I got older and saw the yo-yo aisle, I bought this on a whim. As you use it, this yo-yo flashes and lights up, and it is incredibly attractive. It works flawlessly, and I just adore using it. Anyone, regardless of age, would love receiving this as a stocking stuffer for the upcoming holidays. They'll enjoy it, I can assure you of that. I quickly regained my "rhythm" for performing the sleeper, walking the dog, rocking the cradle, etc. I'm also attempting to stop smoking, so this keeps my hands occupied. Due to its flawless operation and flashing lights, I heartily suggest this yo-yo. Shipping was quick and arrived securely.

Duncan BUTTERFLY YO-YO (colors may vary) Review:

This yo yo is so much fun! It is not unique. It is not illuminated. It moves upward and downward as it should. It is delivered on a string in such a way that it can freely spin at the other end, and you can "pop" it up whenever you like. My kids prefer that it rises on its own so that all you have to do is thread the yo-yo through the loop to make it return. The two sides cannot be unscrewed or separated. At least in my home, that is preferable. The size is ideal for children, and the butterfly design is useful when learning new tricks. Simply a fantastic starter yoyo.

Duncan Imperial Yo-Yo - String Yo-Yo for Beginners with Narrow String Gap, Steel Axle, Plastic Body, Looping Play , Assorted Colors Review:

After so many years since I last used a yo-yo, which was in high school more than 20 years ago, it was exciting to play with this one. I could perform a few things with a yo-yo but was never an adept. Back then, you had to have a Duncan yo-yo if you owned one! I was quite upset that the rope was linked to the axle of the cheap yo-yos that my kids both received for Christmas, which prevented them from "sleeping" them like I had been able to do with my Duncans in the past. In an effort to recreate some of my childhood and teach my children what I learned about how a proper yo-yo functions, I made the decision to order an Imperial and a Butterfly for the kids. When we received our Duncans, we weren't disappointed at all! A few reviews on this site criticize these yoyos for not returning and spinning out. This is not a problem with the quality or the design. Tricks like "walk the dog," "around the world," and "rock the baby" can be performed with a yoyo when it can sleep. With the new yo-yos we got, I soon remembered these tricks. Both yo-yos were identical to how they were more than 20 years ago. I was taken aback by this truth. It may be true that manufacturers improve their products over time, but in this instance, why change what isn't broken?
