My son has a plastic xylophone from Fisher-Price with a string-attached plastic mallet, but he is only really interested in gnawing on the mallet. I've attempted to play with it, but the string is so short that it's challenging and the sound isn't as great as I'd hoped. I chose this particular xylophone since I grew up with a wooden one and I wanted him to have one as well. I adore how elegant and beautifully constructed this xylophone and its mallets are. The xylophone's keys and the music cards both identify the note they correspond to, which makes the music cards very adorable in my opinion. I particularly appreciate that it comes with a carrying case so that everything can travel together and be found. The included stickers, string, and tiny heart tag are ideal for wrapping around the box and gifting as gifts. The notes on this adorable miniature xylophone play fairly well. There are two miniature mallets included. Additionally, I enjoy how vivid it is, as color promotes kid growth. The aspects of this that I dislike include: I anticipated it to be much larger. Really, it's just a tiny bit larger than a regular fork. Since you can see a foam tape line under both sides of the note bars on the wood, it also seems like a fairly cheesy name. It's not a very expensive toy, so this doesn't really bother me; it's just not quite what I expected it to be.
