This functions as intended, but during first installation, windows stating that it must be formatted will appear up. I do believe it is already formatted, though, because the Xbox sped past the formatting page. The size of this unit is also little (I had hoped for something bigger), and it is another great external hard drive for the Xbox One. Gods of Sony, thank you! **********Let me begin by noting that, as a customer, you must conduct research before purchasing any hardware attachment that alters how your PS4 functions. It is the PS4's limitation, not this accessory's, that most reviews point out prevents you from using a hard drive with 5 or 6 TBs. Can larger capacity drives be used? Yes, but there is one feature that is not affected by this Nyko device, but rather by the PS4 operating system.Although I think Nyko should have done a better job at educating the user in its packing and manual, I feel it is the consumer's responsibility to do their own research before making any modifications to their console. It's comparable to someone jailbreaking their iPhone without first conducting any research into the potential drawbacks of doing so.You can effectively use a regular 3.5 desktop hard drive with this attachment. I currently have a Seagate 4TB SSHD inside. According to my investigation, customers who upgraded to drives larger than 4TB have been experiencing problems (sleep mode, power problems, restarts), which is again not the fault of this accessory. They are correct when they say that hard disks with capacities of 5 TB or more are usable. However, many (though not all) experience functionality problems that result in prolonged bootup times, access times for loading while playing games, and other associated problems. But the Nyko Data Bank is NOT to blame for this! The PS4's operating system has a problem processing big volumes of storage.Now for my review of this particular unit:Devices — It includes a screwdriver that you use to remove the one screw needed to replace the hard disk. The unit's quality is comparable to that of the PS4 itself. It is constructed of plastic and, in my opinion, has a material that is identical to that of the PS4. The device fits perfectly; nothing needs to be forced or struggled to slide and snap in. It glided into position and snugly fit.Functionality – It delivers on its promise to let you replace the PS4's internal storage with a larger, 3.5-inch desktop hard drive. I inserted the hard drive into the Nyko expansion bay after first formatting it to exFAT (PS4 plays quite well with this format) (make sure the connection is solid and firm, it should not wiggle at all). After performing a clean install of the PS4 firmware on my Seagate 4TB SSHD, I placed my restore data onto the drive, and everything functions normally with the added bonus of a larger drive. Restarts and sleep mode are both without issues.My advice to ANYONE debating whether to purchase this based on the other reviews.1. Conduct research.2. Use hard drives with a capacity of 4 TB or less (the PS4 OS, not Nyko's expansion bay, is to blame for this soft performance constraint).3.) Before inserting your new hard drive into the Nyko machine, format it as exFAT using a PC.4.) Verify ALL connections once more before turning on your PS4 with the newly inserted hardware.Problems you might have ARE NOT related to this accessory.1.) Large volume storage is currently not compatible with the PS4 OS. Nyko suggests 2TBs in the interim because of this. I'm content with the 4TB drive I'm using right now.2. You WILL experience problems with suspend mode when using larger capacity drives, but once more, this is NOT a problem brought on by this Nyko unit; rather, it is a restriction of the PS4 firmware as it stands. In order to support suspend/sleep mode with larger capacity SSDs, Sony will need to release an update. You will simply have to turn off your PS4 normally till that time for the time being. There are no problems if you're okay with this.

As opposed to the buggy, broken mess that needs day-one patches!). You spend a lot of time doing it. When you felt like having some fun.Well, this will be useful.I'm not sure if the problem where it wouldn't appear as a choice if you installed it while the machine was off has been resolved. I'd heard there was a problem with it, and a simple solution was to install it while the system was running. I took that action. Simply attach it to the side of your system as instructed. To choose the option to have your games automatically install to the new storage space, press the A button as the pointer is over the new HDD/SSD/SSHD.
