Yes, you can paint over wood filler, but you need to make sure that the wood filler is fully dry before you start painting. If the wood filler is not dry, the paint will not adhere properly and will eventually peel off.
Wood filler is a material used to fill holes or defects in wood. It is available in different colors so that it can be matched to the color of the wood. It is also available in different consistency, from very soft to hard. Wood filler can be applied with hands, but it is important to wear gloves to avoid staining the hands. When applying wood filler, it is important to follow the directions on the package. Some wood fillers need to be mixed with water before they can be used.
If you're filling a crack or hole in wood, you'll want to prime the wood first. This will help the filler to better adhere to the wood and will also help to prevent the filler from cracking or peeling over time.
The debate over when to use wood filler - before or after sanding - is one that has been around for years. There are pros and cons to both approaches, and ultimately it comes down to personal preference. If you use wood filler before sanding, you'll need to be extra careful not to sand too deeply and remove the filler. On the other hand, if you use wood filler after sanding, you risk not getting a smooth finish. Some woodworkers prefer to use wood filler before sanding because it allows them to get a better feel for the wood and

This is awesome content! For more than 5 years, I've used it to make simple repairs to wood. Some advice for individuals who left unfavorable reviews:1. Because it is an epoxy, the mixing ratio must be accurate; slice it rather than pinch it. Because it will lose some of its flexibility with time, only slice what you'll need in the next five to ten minutes.2. Thoroughly blend it. In most cases, kneading takes no more than two minutes. Should be one color throughout, without any colored streaks. Once it is in the proper location, stop touching or squeezing it.3. Delay putting it under heavy stress until after the cure time (1 hour).4. Try to keep the unused piece as tightly sealed in its original container as you can.5. If you're using an old product that has been sitting about for a while and feels hard, reheat it in the oven for around 15 minutes at 180°F. It will liquefy and blend smoothly. My only complaints (which I put up with because I can't think of anything better):1. Kind of pricey to use unrestrictedly. If it weren't so expensive, I could, for example, fully remodel parts or fill significant gaps.2. Is almost waterproof and does not absorb stains. Although it will paint like wood, stain won't penetrate.3. There isn't a very long shelf life. I would buy a ton of it just to make sure I always had some on hand, but it only keeps for about two years.Wood works best with Kwikwood. For general repairs, there are other products that function far better (versions for steel and plastic, for instance).

I used this stuff to harden a rotten log end in my cabin, and it worked great. I have a 36" x 14" or so huge log end. I removed all of the really bad wood from the log first, covered the area with this wood hardener, let it dry for a day, and then used P.C. Products 1926 10 Rot Terminator, a two-part resin and hardener mixture mixed with sawdust, applied in layers of 2-3" and allowed to dry overnight in a temperature of 50 degrees. It formed a solid foundation and proved to be the ideal solution to my issue. To prevent it from overflowing, I also used a piece of steel plate coated with butter that I had cut into a circle and lag bolted into the lower end of the log end. Two days later, when it had cured, I removed the plate. Both items are excellent.

Before painting, it was necessary to patch some baseboard cracks around some shoddy coped ends. Working with this substance can occasionally feel almost crumbly, like working with sticky drywall. To avoid having to do a lot of sanding, it was just to squeeze into the crevices and brush off the excess before it dried. The material that did require sanding was fairly easy to remove. I finished quickly by using a piece of high-grit paper the size of a bandage at the end of my finger. The seam where the corner comes together is completely hidden once painted over. Before acquiring this product, someone accidentally snapped off the teeny top tip of the floor trim on another part by being a little too rough with the sanding. I used this product to reattach the little tip and create a precise corner when it had partially dried. Once painted over, it is once more absolutely undetectable, even under close inspection.I had some neutral wood filler for interior/exterior use that was advertised as being sandable and paintable for individuals who were weighing their options. I've tried it before, but it was way too abrasive to work with on tight corners and was pretty evident after being painted.

Plastic wood was the only other type of wood filler I had ever used before FamoWood. If you are unfamiliar with Plastic Wood, it is just sawdust bound by a resin made of solvents. Plastic wood is challenging to work with, has a propensity to disintegrate, and is not very adherent. Everything that Plastic Wood is not, FamoWood is. It is a paste that can fill even vertical spaces, dries rapidly to a hardness akin to wood, and adheres to surfaces when applied. It is also quite simple to deal with. I used it to patch up some gouges that had been painted over; I had originally planned to sand the gouges down to bare wood, but FamoWood stuck to painted surfaces just well. Cleaning with soap and water is also simple. This is authentic material!

My dog was trapped in a bedroom by a (ex-) pet sitter during a fireworks display, causing two doors and their frames to sustain gouges up to a quarter inch deep. I made the decision to try patching and painting the damage rather than incurring a cost in the thousands to repair it entirely. I ultimately needed two of these Elmer's wood fillers to complete the task. I used a large putty knife to fill, shape, and rebuild the corners and contours to mill work. It was sanded down using an orbital sander after drying. Before getting everything even and smooth enough to paint, I had to go back and forth between application, sanding, and touch-up for approximately three passes. Someone with more knowledge and experience plastering would probably do it in one or two passes.I'm not an expert at this kind of work, but it turned out beautifully! Only a few slightly off-center lines detract from the appearance of the doors and frames, and the filler was simple to paint over and is completely invisible. It's difficult to tell anything ever happened from 3-5 feet away. I'm overjoyed with the outcomes.

An (former) pet sitter locked my dog in a bedroom during a fireworks show resulting in two doors and frames being gouged up to a 1/4 inch deep. Before swallowing a cost in the 1000's to repair it altogether, I opted to try filling and painting the damage. I ended up using two of these Elmer's wood fillers to finish the job. I filled, contoured, and rebuilt the corners and curves to mill work using a huge putty knife. After drying and orbital sander smoothed it down. I needed to make approximately three runs of application, sanding, and touchup before getting everything smooth and even enough to paint. Some one more talented and experienced plastering would probably do it a single pass or two.I'm not pro at this sort of stuff but it came out quite nicely! The doors and frames look wonderful with only a few slightly uneven lines but the filler was easy to paint over and does not show at all. From 3-5 feet away it's hard to tell anything ever happened. I'm quite delighted with the results.

This was used for several Craigslist finds. makes them appear significantly better after. Although color matching proved to be more difficult than I had anticipated, I was still able to match a multi-color veneer table top with some ingenious camouflaging. I also used it on a bedroom end table I purchased from ReStore that had a leg that was scratched up by an animal. I was able to conceal it until I had time to fully fill it and repaint it by combining the crayon and the markers.I wish it could handle lighter colors better or had more color choices. To fill up some damaged places, it would be amazing if there was some kind of filler that could be colored with a marker. With simple cosmetic repairs and this kit, I was able to raise the worth of furniture that was essentially being given away due to some minor flaws.

I completed the following activities with this glue: 1) To patch a tiny hole in a piece of particle board. 2) To fix a little rip in a door. The hole in the particle board was caused by a stripped screw, therefore it wasn't very big. All I had to do was insert the wood filler into the hole, remove any excess, allow it to dry, and then screw the screw back in. If the hole had been larger, it would have been simple to first fill it with toothpick fragments before adding the wood filler. It was a little trickier to fix the hole in the door because it was a hollow door, which I didn't think would work but decided to try anyway! It was impressive how the wood filler was able to hold onto the edges of the hole and even make a plug in the door where a screw had gone through since there are fragments of what feels like sawdust that lend enough texture to the mixture.Although the filler can be stained, it won't exactly match the wood around it, so you might still be able to tell where a repair was made. As the filler created a patch that was slightly darker than the rest of the wood, we were able to make up for it by painting instead and choosing a slightly lighter hue.It takes some force to press this substance out of the tube because it is a thick paste, which is why some people have reported that it is practically impossible to remove. The size of the hole you drilled into the tip can be changed, however the tougher it will be to extract something through a smaller hole. Although it is not impossible, it is inconvenient enough to have cost a star. It takes a little additional work to squeeze, but considering how helpful it is and how thick and dense the wood fibers are, it is well worth it. Another benefit is that it may be recapped and used once more for additional minor repairs.Overall, it is quite helpful for little repairs, making it a purchase that was well worth it and one that I would do again.

I got this kit since it came in a variety of colors so I could try to fix some tiny dings on some older furniture items. When I first opened the kit, I noticed a card with a small area for each of the colors I had to assist match the color of my current wood with the paint. I filled in that spot. I chose the two colors I would use from that (A red color for my scraped cabinet door, and a dark brown for my kitchen table). Although the scuff is still visible, the red went on fairly smoothly, and the color matching is decent. Unfortunately, my cat's claws have scraped the table, and the instructions that came with it weren't very helpful. I haven't yet figured out how to apply the paint precisely enough to fit in the crack. For the price, I'm pleased with what I got and am keeping the set in case something goes wrong in the future.
Wood filler is a material used to fill holes, cracks, or voids in wood. It is available in various colors, but is most commonly found in shades of white, brown, and black. You may also need to sand the area again before applying the second coat.
