I originally purchased the Narex "imperial" (1/4, 1/2, 3/4, 1) set with the intention of using them until I had saved enough money to purchase a set of Lie Neilson's or Stanley Sweethearts. However, after spending some time and effort flattening the backs and sharpening the bevels, I was pleasantly surprised to find that this set of chisels performed ten times better than I had anticipated. I needed the 40mm and the 3mm so badly for my massive tenons and small sockets that I ordered them. Once more, after spending some time fine-tuning these two new chisels, they excelled at every task I gave them. To sum up, I have chosen to add this set of four Narex chisels to my collection because I do not see the need to purchase the more expensive ones given that this set has performed above and beyond my expectations. This chisel set is finished, though I'll probably end up purchasing a few more sizes when I find a need for them. 3 star price for 5 star chisels. The only thing I would advise is to take the time when you first acquire them to clean them with mineral spirits and a light abrasive, flatten the backs, sharpen the bevels, use a leather strop after each use, and buy an anti-rust liquid (I use wd-40) to maintain them in good condition. By doing this, you can guarantee that your chisels will last a lifetime!

For my tool bag, which I tote from job to job, I required a set of chisels. I looked everywhere, and these were the best I could find. These were reasonably priced, neither too cheap nor too expensive, which was crucial for a movable bag that could be taken off the truck. They are shorter than Dewalt or other premium brands, and shorter by well over an inch, making them just right for my bag. They also have a metal strike plate where you beat on the chisel so the handle can withstand it. As for the tools themselves, they are first and foremost SHARP, which for this type of tool is more than a good quality. Finally, they have a cool hue; I enjoy blue, and the blue sticks out in a backpack full of various color tools. Oh, these perform just as well as my premium sets at a third of the price, and they function like a charm. If you value high quality and cost savings, buy these.

For the price, this seems to be a good bundle. Although the photo displays a green finish, the pair I got was blue. I did not want to spend a lot of money on a chisel set because I knew I would not use it much. I got this set since it had good ratings, a lovely appearance, and was reasonably priced. Once I got them, I was pleasantly delighted by how good they looked and felt. The other day, I utilized two of the four chisels on my first project, and they performed admirably. The edges were straight, and the handle withstood several hammer blows with no problems. I'll learn more as I use and sharpen them for the upcoming jobs, but for what I needed, I don't believe I would have gotten much more for my money if I had paid top dollar for a chisel set.

This appears to be a good starting chisel set at first glance.The Good: A stone and a Robert Larson sharpening guide are included. Devoid of a separate guide, therefore.The case looks good.The stone is, um, alright.The tips of each chisel are protected.I wasn't delighted when one of the huge chisels arrived with a chip in the corner of the blade, but it is not worth returning.Blades have been ground.The bad news is that one of the larger chisels has a corner chip. The attempt to return it is not worthwhile.There is a need to "tune up" the Robert Larson guide. In order to hold the chisel at the correct angles, the sharpener needs to be filed and cleaned up. On YouTube, there are techniques for doing this.After that, you can get to work flattening and honing the tools so they can be effective creational utensils.How come four stars? The chisel's chip indicates that quality checked it on a Monday or a Friday and that the factory has to pay more attention.That is my account, and I will stand by it.

I awarded this product four stars since it accomplishes what it is supposed to do and is reasonably priced in comparison to similar goods (like Grandberg's Mini Mill). To make straight, ripping cuts, it attaches onto the chain saw bar and moves in accordance with a guide (a 2x6 fastened to a log with screws or nails). But there are a few things you need to be aware of beforehand. My remarks are similar to those made by other reviewers of this product. First, there are no instructions provided. To see and print the owner's manual, go to [...]. I'm not sure why it's not there. Second, my packaging did not contain any screws, not even the three needed to secure the unit to the chainsaw bar. Regarding the missing parts, I called BAC, the business that imports this item from China (218-943-6290). The "hardware kit" that they promised to send me won't arrive for another month. I had the choice of picking up some screws or returning the item to Amazon for an exchange. To secure the guide to the saw bar, I purchased three M8 x 25 screws ($1.20 each plus tax). The 8mm threads on the guide are not well tapped, as another reviewer pointed out. I was unable to insert the screws. In order to purchase an 8mm tap, return to the hardware store (another 5 bucks). The unit worked perfectly when I tapped the holes, and I was able to use it. You may put up a guide board and use the guide by watching a nice video on YouTube. If you are cautious when putting your guide board in place and make sure the chain does not contact the guide (that will dull your chain instantly) and milling can be done reasonably well if you take your time. Wear eye protection and a face shield since you should be ready for a sawdust shower in your face. This device could be used to slab off a log's bottom for a log cabin sill or to make beams. Before sending packages to Amazon, the BAC employee I spoke with said that they don't check the boxes they receive from China. The Chinese are to blame for the poor quality control (no instructions, no hardware kit, improperly tapped threaded holes). This product is a good value as long as one is prepared to solve these issues.

I purchased it since I am a novice woodsman. Lol. I manufacture hiking sticks and other wood carvings, to be specific. My father had lent me some tools, which I was using, but he need them back. He advised against spending as much as he did (his were expensive professional wood carving tools), so I looked online and discovered these. They performed quite well on softer woods, I must add, but not as well on harder woods. For anyone who works with softer woods or is a newbie woodcarver, I can wholeheartedly suggest this kit.
