As our contractor is really dragging his feet after we suffered storm damage to one side of the house, I utilized this to fix several cracks in my siding. It was simple to apply, and even after being rained on multiple times, it still looks the same. I can imagine many uses for this tape, and I've read that it works well for tents, so packing a roll with your camping gear might be a good idea. I still have a ton of tape and I had numerous sizable cracks in the siding. This tape can be used on a variety of surfaces; according to the manufacturer's website, it "Works on RV awning, fabric canopy, vinyl tarpaulin surfaces, tent holes, and greenhouse wall" and also cites leather and cloth.

What occurs when a $10,000 motorized retractable awning with a two-year lifespan develops a tear on the edge and the manufacturer is unresponsive? Either you spend a lot of money replacing the entire panel, or you explore for alternatives. The Camco Awning Repair Tape was my choice. Application was a little challenging because our motorized awning is spring loaded and needs to be carefully created slack in order to apply the tape. I used the tape on both sides of the awning after cleaning the surface with alcohol because the tear was at one of the side corners. In order for the awning to retract and wind without my having to walk, I next put the same quantity of tape to the opposing side. I was apprehensive that the tape wouldn't hold since the awning is under tension when it is deployed. That hasn't been a problem during the brief period that it has been opened and closed following the repair. We won't likely use the awning until next spring because it's winter, but unless there's a surprise in store for me, I fully anticipate the repair to hold. Recommended.

What particularly makes this tape "special" for use on RV awnings is unclear to me. Although you must either pre-cut your chosen lengths or walk up on your 8-foot stepladder to properly cut it with a razor knife, it is beautiful and thick and applies smoothly. Even after a one-week vacation, it is still clear, but after that it has turned a wonderful UV-stained yellow colour, which really contrasts with my white awning. Although I can only see it on the topside, a white tape or UV resistant clear would have been preferable.

quite weak when joined together. It is only held together by four little screws, and the pieces kept coming apart before I could assemble it. I then inserted the 4 tiny screws in after silicone-ing all the components together, including the polycarbonate panel. not disintegrating at this time.Only install on a flat outside surface, according to the manufacturer. Well, vinyl siding was where my awning would go. You now know that I improvised once more. I purchased an 8' X 5 3/4 "molding for windows made of ABS. To create my flat surface, I cut the two 13" vertical pieces, the top piece, and secured them with 3" deck screws to the vinyl siding. Next, I employed stainless steel 3 "lag bolts are used to attach the brackets. To prevent any leakage, silicone all the edges. Now, it won't be blown over by wind, rain, or snow in addition to looking like a million dollars. The 40 by 40-inch brown panel with the black brackets is extremely attractive. I attempted to upload a picture, but it did not accept it and instead deleted all of my words. You might install this product as shown in the photo. They even mentioned item #7 in their instructions, however the pictures only showed six numbers, oh my. Undoubtedly a two person job!

This 40" x 80" awning is mounted above the back entrance to our company. Building was simple. A second set of hands can be helpful, but it can still be done by one person. It is attached to a cinder block wall by this awning. The holes weren't too difficult to drill. Drill a smaller hole with a pilot bit first, then a larger hole with a 3/8 masonry bit. You must drill a 3 inch hole through the solid wall of the cinder block if the mounting hole is not aligned with the hollow portion of the block. The provided bolts were swapped out for concrete screw anchors measuring 3/8 in. Wedge anchor bolts with a metal sleeve enclose the provided bolts. When the bolt is tightened, this sleeve is compressed. The issue with this kind of bolt is that it would only make very brief contact with the object—in my example, a cinder block—when the compressed portion of the sleeve was in touch with it. These sleeves have a propensity to become looser with use. The entire length of the bolt that I used to secure the anchor screws makes contact with the cinder block, and they are designed exclusively for masonry applications.Another piece of advice is to merely drill the three top holes (38 inches apart), hang the awning temporarily, and then mark the lower holes that need to be drilled. As a result, the eventual alignment of all 6 holes with the mounting holes is practically foolproof.I assembled and mounted this thing by myself in about two hours.

The device itself receives a perfect score of five stars, but as other reviewers have pointed out, the included hardware needs to be improved and the instructions are virtually useless. Better instructions and hardware would make this a five-star product, but even then, depending on what or where you are mounting, it won't be an easy project. Installation complexity is not solely determined by the caliber of the product. Some lessons we've learnt through installing may be useful to others. Three kits were purchased, and we combined them to create a longer run of 19 feet. This is made possible by the design, and combining them in that way is really effective.Plan to assemble all of your sections on the ground, then gather enough helpers to assist you hold the whole thing up once it's assembled to be installed. It isn't heavy; it simply needs support. It's made of premium plastic. It is highly challenging to try to install one portion before adding another, and if the surface you are installing to is not completely square (which walls never are), it will slightly deform the frame, preventing the panel from floating in the channels as it should. It's also advised to get better screws, slightly longer ones for the front channel, and stainless steel screws, which is what we did.It goes without saying that if you are mounting into brick, as we did, you will need to purchase tap con / masonry screws for mounting and use a hammer drill.Having saying that, persevere.Considering that we completed six panels totaling 19 feet, it is possible but not advised for a beginner DIYer. Much easier would be a smaller section into a more straightforward wall. For the time and trouble it took, I will say that it looks fantastic. We were replacing a steel frame and fabric canopy that was over 20 years old. Over $1500 was needed to replace it with choices that were identical to the original. This alternative cost less than $300.This product appears current and updated while yet blending in with the design of the house. It provides more light (than the canvas) into the house, extends a little further from the house, and provides greater protection from the rain.Overall, I would repeat it.
