I purchased this Pro Series hitch rack for a lengthy trip from Georgia to Utah and back after evaluating numerous different hitch racks. Over the course of two weeks, we traveled a total of around 4,000 miles. I'll explain why I enjoy it now:1. Its raised sides prevent equipment from slipping or falling out.2. Additionally, the bag has built-in lashing straps that you may use to fasten it to the cargo rack. For additional security, I also used some separate lashing straps.Don't get caught up with the amount of weight other hitch racks can support when you are looking at them. Although it is rated for 500 lbs, I can assure you that you won't likely use it to the fullest. I have loaded the bag with luggage in the photos that are attached, but the overall weight was just around 200 lbs. You might not want to load this rack all the way. The front of your vehicle may lift more if you add additional weight to the rear of your car. My Durango's steering was unaffected by my 200 lbs, but it might have been if I had 500 lbs. You should also verify your vehicle's tongue weight rating to see if it can even support 500 lbs of tongue weight.Final thought. I observed numerous other cars with hitch racks as I traveled the nation. The majority were the $50 models that can be found at WalMart or any other auto parts retailer. Many of them were drooping or slanting. My posture was firm, stable, and straight. This Pro Series rack is fantastic.

It's beautiful and light aluminum, which I enjoy. It arrived with a great deep ding, but sadly the manufacturer's packaging was not sufficiently protective (the aluminum edge was right up against the cardboard, without any Styrofoam or other material in between). Because I hoped the damage would be on the side of the hitch and nobody would notice it, I decided to keep it nonetheless. However, even though the ding was on the backside and at the bottom of the rail, it was not particularly noticeable. It can only go in one direction; you cannot turn it around. It is a little annoying to join the black hitch rail to the metal tray since it makes the whole thing cumbersome. Try to put it together on a table rather than the ground like I did. It will need to be turned over several times. Oh, and the four lengthy screws require an allen wrench. Although it's a pretty nice carrier, the ding cost me one star.

The hitch mount cargo carrier, cargo bag, net, cargo straps, and hitch stabilizer were all included in a fantastic value bundle. The load carrier was a good match for the hitch mount. It was substantial and made of high-grade, heavy-duty metal with strong welds or connectors (nuts/bolts). The hitch stabilizer did a great job of reducing hitch looseness and ensuring a quiet, steady ride. To lessen any potential swing, we utilized a few extra cargo ratchet straps, but I'm not sure if they were actually necessary. The bag was well made and suited the cargo carrier perfectly. Although it did not completely prevent water from entering, it performed roughly as well as other high-quality vehicle or van rooftop bags we have previously used. We traveled through a lot of rain and snow during Christmas from the mid-mountain states in the US to Whistler, BC, in Canada, and back to the US, and the carrier, bag, and straps all performed admirably. The cargo carrier folded up and was barely detectable when making short excursions without the bag. Overall, this was a fantastic value, and if I ever needed one again, I would definitely buy it. Totally on upgraded roads.Discussion: There is ample clearance for opening and closing the back hatch. The weight was only a few hundred pounds, and the carrier made no noise (hitch silencer not required, just a simple hitch pin or lockable hitch pin). I heard one click as I turned and hit a pothole simultaneously.Setup is straightforward. Few tools are needed. The writing on the instructions is small and challenging to read, but with a few bolts and nuts, common sense will win out. With the shank folded up first, mounting can be completed by one person more quickly. Lower the platform after inserting the shank so that you have room to move when you insert the hitch pin.Outstanding quality. lasted a long time and in bad weather. I would have given 5 stars, but the absence of sealing only gets me 4. Although the inside of the steel tubes is not coated to prevent rust, the open ends of the tubes attract water incursion. I didn't realize it till I reached my location and turned the platform vertical. A torrent of severely corroded water rushed out as I raised the platform. It appears fantastic from the outside, but if I don't solve interior rusting, it will continue to be stunning when it breaks (hopefully not in transit).Recommendation to the Buyer: To use with the carrier, I bought a Pelican Case 0550NF. I can hardly see the case through the back window from where I'm sitting in the driver's seat. Although I am aware of it, it has no effect on how I see things. From the side mirrors, I cannot see the carrier or case. I secured the case with two ratchet straps (one is good enough, two for redundancy). The bottom of the Pelican Case is slightly smaller than the carrier. When I bought the case with the idea of putting it on its back, I was aware of this. This did not affect the Pelican Case's ability to stay watertight when combined with the ratchet straps. If you're not familiar with Pelican Cases, these are ruggedized, lockable, watertight cases that are frequently used by the military and in harsh settings. About 150 lbs. total, including the case and the carrier. The class 3 hitch on the 2013 Pathfinder has a tongue weight of 500 lbs. This means that you can only fill the case to a maximum weight of 350 lbs before the vehicle starts to suffer damage. I advise against going up to 350 pounds because a bump in the road can increase the force on the tongue beyond what it can handle.To prevent corrosion inside the steel tubes, the seller is advised to cap the open ends of the tubes.Recommend: Without a doubt!

Let's start by talking about some of the bad reviews.1. I hardly ever rattle, but everybody who has a hitch is aware that all you need is a tightener. Look for a hitch tightener or an anti-rattle2. Rust was a worry for some. Black powder coating completely covers mine. I purchased a $0.99 can of black flat spray paint from Lowe's and painted it completely before constructing it and before affixing the reflector stickers after reading some depressing stories (see pic). To avoid scraping off the paint, which will cause rust, only use bungee cords with rubber-coated end-hooks. These are also sold at Lowe's.3. Mine has flawless weld spots. This item is large, heavy, thick, and well-built. The 500lbs are not held by the mesh. These weld sites are therefore more than adequate but not particularly crucial. The mesh is only there to prevent small objects from falling through; it is connected below the carrier's frame.I've included four images of this bag taken from two different angles and with it both open and closed. To put your hitch pin, choose one of the three pin holes on this carrier. As a result, you can decide how far the carrier should be from your car. In order to keep it away from the vehicle while folded up, it is only inserted into the first hole in all of my photos. Note that I cannot utilize the two closest settings because my receiver is situated back under my bumper (when folded up). When it is in the down position, though, I may slide it further into the receiver if I'm taking a lengthy trip with a heavy load. As a result, bigger weights will be more stable.Wishing everyone luck!This is ideal for long distance travel, camping, and nursery runs (gardening centers). As opposed to single axle trailers, double axle trailers don't require slow driving, lights, registration, excise tax, or additional toll fees for the additional axle. I bought this to serve as a sort of temporary little flatbed for lugging around little items. Works well, feels very strong, fits well, and doesn't rattle while driving in my opinion. There are more than enough tie-down strap points, and my hatchback has enough of room to open when installed (in fact, there is too much clearance; I'll get to that later). I don't have to worry about anything dropping through the floor's grill-like structure or balancing the load across bars because it is thin enough. Oh, and while there isn't much lift overall, there is just enough for me to not have to worry about bottoming out on inclines and bumps. I'm quite pleased with it overall.There are a few things I would (and did) modify, though:1) The basket stuck out at least a foot from my car and looked silly extending out that far. If you have a recessed or hidden hitch, this extra space would be helpful, but because my hitch is almost flat with my bumper, I chose to trim down the bar and re-drill the hitch pin hole. I was only able to save approximately 3" because of the bend/lift, but I'm okay with that.2) The hitch pin used by this carrier is not typical. What they mean by "pin included" is that the hole is threaded and you must use the accompanying bolt and washers. (A typical 1/2" pin will not fit since it is smaller.) ... keep in mind how much space you have to work near to your hitch. It's intended that way so you can tighten it down and eliminate hitch wobble/vibration, but that also means you have to screw and unscrew a really tight, lengthy bolt to your receiver every time you wish to install or remove the carrier. This is tiresome and needless because I have to remove the carrier after every usage; I would much rather like a regular 1/2" hole. Therefore, when I cut the bar, I simply re-drilled a tidy 1/2" hole. Done.Last but not least, because the floor is welded to three sides of each component of the frame rather than the middle, I initially worried that it would be weak. When built, the grill in the middle is only resting on the central bar; it is not actually supported in any way. Fortunately, there isn't much sagging and I can stand with both feet on any side. Although I haven't yet loaded it beyond 150 pounds, it is ideal for my purposes.

I didn't get around to mounting these up for a few days.The evaluations that reference the retaining bolts and latches elude me.It is clear that the locks are solely present to restrict access to the retaining bolts. stealing it.With no locks, only an allen key, and it leaves.Both of these were mounted onto the 2013 Subaru Imprezza using OEM rails in about 5 minutes, and that included measuring from side to side to ensure that they were evenly spaced. Mounting couldn't be any simpler. They pretty tightly locked on. This weekend, I'll put them to the test on the highway.They arrived in the original manufacturer box with with the allen key and keys. Given the delivery service, the box was received in respectable shape. Everything in the box was in brand-new condition from the factory.Update: 1776 miles in 4 days. On the highway, 70 mph. Never did they budge or slide.Since I already have a hearing issue, I couldn't tell you about any more noise. I also utilize my stereo. At high speeds, the imprezza made no noise.

Very simple to assemble and at a great price. After reading the reviews and evaluating the costs of several roof racks, I purchased the item. Customers frequently complained about corrosion or rust buildup in the tubes of the majority of the more affordable sets. I assembled everything and sealed the seams by wrapping a few layers in electric tape. When the joints were sealed, I painted the rack a matte black finish of Rustoleum, and after a month, everything is in perfect shape. There is no rust or corrosion, the seams maintain a watertight seal, and the brackets provide a strong hold. I used the rack in Yosemite during inclement weather and left it outside in the rain, and everything is looking fantastic! highly suggestable

With this baggage carrier, I've been quite satisfied. The assembly was simple and it's sturdy.This Curt Cargo Carrier is something I DO RECOMMEND.My interest is taking road trips throughout the nation to mountain bike and camp. When I'm really diving deep, I want to be able to transport a generator along with extra cargo. This works excellent and can, if necessary, be disassembled and stored in the vehicle when not in use. I've covered around 2000 miles in it, largely on the interstate, hauling a Honda 3500 generator and a chainsaw, and it ran without a hitch. Several times while driving slowly through the woods, I bottomed it out, expecting it to be destroyed, but it wasn't. Even with the mediocre instructions, the initial construction was very simple. There are two different kinds of bolts, and each type only fits the specific hole it was designed for. Just take a look at it to observe that the center shank, which serves as the major support for the entire carrier, does indeed go in that direction. I didn't check because I didn't know this, so I found out about two thirds of the way through and had to tear it up and start over, which took about ten minutes. Although a conventional drill or perhaps hand tools might have sufficed, I utilized an electric impact driver. To ensure that everything fits properly, wait to tighten any bolts until everything is assembled. Once everything is roughly put together, you may go around and tighten it. This review should be helpful.
