Champion 15,000 lb. Snatch Block Review:

I intended to order a robust snatch block because I didn't know much about them to help lighten the burden on my 2000-pound winch.I estimated a dimension of maybe 4 by 6 inches based on the photographs. This item is easily around 10 by 8 inches in dimension and weighs between 8 and 10 pounds. It is far larger than I need and won't serve the purpose I had in mind. It's not the product's fault, but the photographs certainly make it challenging to comprehend what you're purchasing.

Winch Cover, FLYMEI Heavy Duty Winch Dust Cover, 600D Thick, Waterproof, Dust-Proof, UV-Resistant Winch Protection Cover, Ideal for Electric Winches 8500-17500 lbs Review:

On-time shipping and delivery of the item; high-quality, accurately described material The cover, which is made of synthetic rope and fits perfectly, is on my Smittybilt XRC 9500. The elastic band is thick enough to hold the cover in place but not so thick that it makes it difficult to put on and adjust. After a month of rain in the Pacific Northwest, I'll revise my evaluation, but thus far, this was a wise buy.Update: The cover is still fantastic. It rains here in the Pacific Northwest virtually every day in the winter, and the cover is taking the abuse.

TR Industrial 600 lb. Trailer Winch Review:

Be aware that this is a single-speed, one-direction winch without a brake and be familiar with the distinction between a ratchet lock and a brake. This does not have a braking mechanism; it only has a rachet lock. If the load is not secured, it will drop immediately if you flip the lever into the free spool mode. great for hauling or loading horizontally though. However, in order to prevent unintentionally lowering loads, I could upgrade to a brake winch.

Smittybilt 9500 lb 97495 XRC GEN2 Winch-9500 Pound Load Capacity Review:

Excellent work, this winch! I use mine to pull cars onto a trailer hitched to a car transporter, so I haven't really tested its working limits. The only issues I have are that the base mounting mechanism uses captured square nuts, which would enable a thief to take the bolts from the mounting location's backside, and that the connector assembly mounting bracketry is quite shoddy built. I advise the producer that a lock-nut setup would be preferable. Despite the fact that the product is Chinese-made, no problems with material quality or workmanship have been found.I've included some images that demonstrate how I mounted the winch and added a protective cover in case you're seeking for inspiration.

Smittybilt (98510 X2O Waterproof Synthetic Rope Winch - 10000 lb. Load Capacity Review:

This winch is excellent. There's no need to spend a fortune on brand recognition. This was installed on a 2008 JK Wrangler, and it works excellent. The construction quality is superb, installation is quite easy, and the wireless functionality is essential. Two criticisms put a halt to it. formerly from five stars. One is particular about the wireless range. The maximum clear line of sight distance is only 50 to 60 feet, despite the manual's recommendation of a maximum of 50 meters. By no means a deal breaker, but only a third of the manual's advertised value is really achieved. It would be convenient to have the remote cover the complete length of the line while alone. The solenoid attachment is the real cause of the low rating of five stars. It comes with beautiful brackets that can be mounted over the spool. Didn't want that, so it was put in a different spot over the motor. There are only two screws holding it on, and they are both on the side of the spool, thus a redesign is required. This implies that the box's opposite side flops up and down. This design leaves me quite unsatisfied because everything else is so carefully thought out. In order to make level and minimize movement, I ultimately used adhesive spacers between the motor housing and the bottom of the solenoid. shouldn't be necessary for a new product. The winch is powerful; it was used to draw a tree up a hill after being used to pull a widowmaker tree that had been left behind after a storm. It was a pleasant surprise that only one finger was required to hold onto the cable in order to walk it out in a free spool. The rubber texture of the remote is soft and pleasant to the touch.Revision: 12/17/2015Since I installed it, I have used this winch extensively every weekend. I have successfully completed 10 near-stalling very hard pulls on a single line. Although the unit does grow pretty heated, it stops before any thermal cutoff. When tightly spooled cable is manually pulled, free spool is almost too smooth because there is no visible resistance, allowing birdcaging without the drum breaking.7/23/15 updateThis winch has achieved the fifth star for its accomplishments. 17 hard pulls, half of which came very close to stalling but never did. Skidding a 60 foot long maple yree with a 15 inch diameter while making a small amount of ground preparation required five pulls with double line and a 20k grab block. Every time, the winch has performed. The safety catch latch on the hook that was initially provided busted, although that was due to the design of the latch and would happen regardless of the brand. Will be updating to a better hook with a new locking mechanism.updated on 2/7/16Excellent winch, absolutely adore it. It was a nice addition to replace the hook with a strong TMJ self-locking hook. There is nothing wrong with this winch's crossbar support, but you should be careful not to abuse it by allowing cable to accumulate in one spot past the allowable clearances. Even if Smittybilt is gracious enough to replace, any damage is a usage issue rather than a product issue. updated hook and added photo.Final update as of 3/18/16. Unreal winch has consistently hauled some heavy weights. even after a foot of snow and freezing rain the night before. Just enough snow was removed using a brush to activate the wireless switch. I believed that this would be the definitive examination of the CA winch left exposed. Despite the steel wire being deeply frozen in ice, the winch performed admirably. I would repurchase if I ever needed another.Updated on 2/27/17 after the wireless function ceased functioning. Excellent Smittybilt customer service discovered that the solenoid's on/off switch was broken. They were easily replaced, but I went ahead and added phoyos and ordered a real waterproof boot sealed switch from Amazon. Use the part number from the package instead of the current factory replacement by plugging it in. Give their engineers the information, and they will examine it. Ideally, provide this surfboard as a warranted replacement and perhaps ship it with it. Still adoring the winch, I've dragged several once-downed and fallen trees around.Update from 10/9/2018: Several people messaged enquiring about the winch right now. The unit has been operational for almost 3 years at this point. pulled a great deal of trees about, used it to hoist lumber with a grab block above, and even self-recovered up a steep mountain road after slipping off in deep snow. I had to tie the back of the jeep to a big tree to prevent it from slipping on pavement when the brakes were locked since the weights I was pulling were so hefty. I recently got a replacement cable because the one I was using had a little fray and a few minor kinks. I've added a picture of the functioning unit. To keep it in good working order, use it at least once every month. The only noticeable evidence of wear, other from the steel cable, is the casing being lighter by direct sunlight because I do not keep it covered all year.

WARN 885000 Corded PullzAll 120V AC Review:

First things first: I'm delighted I bought it; it worked perfectly and was well worth the money. I needed to move a 1500 pound shed, which is heavier than this little guy's rating, but it would be on "rollers" and would be on a relatively smooth surface, so I just required that much weight—more of a nudge or tug in the right direction than a full pull—and it worked perfectly. Why the markdown, then? Because I opted to spool out the cable before I started, AND there were three kinks in the line, making it appear as though it had been carelessly rolled up and the cables were "bent." Another reason for a tick down: even though I was familiar with load limiter operation and loved the LED load indicator, when I pulled the wire back in (with NO load), the device shut down (although there was no red LED), and I had to perform a power cycle and wait for it to restart. It worked perfectly after that, but I was worried that I had burned the device. I'm not sure what the problem was, and it worked fine to finish the task, but it could have been a sign of things to come or I had better luck that day.

Champion 4500-lb. ATV/UTV Wireless Winch Kit Review:

It is a beautiful winch, really. The wires are a good length overall. Very simple to connect. The instructions were very simple to read and understand. I'm not a certified electrical contractor. All of the connections and cables are color-coded, and they can only fit together in the right connection. One wire on a 10 amp circuit was all I needed to tap into, and my son-in-law found it for me. The winch performs admirably. It is specifically affixed to the front of my tractor. I had no trouble pulling the tractor up a pretty high incline. I use it mostly for carrying logs up a slope. You can control the hand-held switch while guiding the log toward the tractor with your other hand. Nicely done! In order to hoist plywood panels to the top of the fireplace, I also used a winch with pulley couplings. Winches are a fantastic force multiplier and make moving objects very simple. This winch's ease of installation and straightforward hookup make it my top pick. Other less expensive devices come with poor instructions and way too little wiring.

Trailer Winch 2000LB EDC Coated Black Dual Drive Winch with 25-Foot Strap Review:

For a customer's boat, where the gears have failed twice in less than a season, I purchased this winch. I appreciate the notion of having two gearsets to aid with the load; I will keep purchasing this design if it continues to satisfy my clients, though I may switch the strap out for a more robust option if necessary.
