I bought this set of three tea infusers. The two little ones were excellent when they arrived, but it was quite challenging to open and close the larger one. I didn't think that bending the tabs was the solution for a variety of reasons, namely that it would only make the issue worse and weaken the tabs. I've been looking for something that will contain the beans because I boil whole bean coffee in a teapot without a filter and I end up with beans and other particles in my coffee cup. I wasn't sure if I should get these given the reviews that claimed it was impossible to remove the cap after usage, but I did so in order to use both of them simultaneously to make coffee. They arrived in good shape, and I immediately put them to work. They tolerate being boiling fairly well, and as I remove them from the coffee, they drain nicely. It can be a little challenging to make sure you thread them correctly, as I discovered. I adjusted the lid's tightness until it was barely snug, then I turned it back slightly. The cover screws off extremely easily and remains on even while boiling. I don't want any more crumbs in my coffee! Let's see how long they persist now.

The use of this great tool has been wonderful. Tiny tea particles can float out of the perforations, which is why I didn't give it five stars, but it's not a deal breaker at all! In fact, by doing it that way, I probably get more tea. You can fit A LOT more tea in one ball than you can with any of those ridiculous clamping tea strainers if you don't fully open the tea ball and leave some of it overlapping. I currently have two of those, and while the mesh wire prevents anything from contaminating the tea, they can only hold a small portion of the loose tea that the oxo ball can hold. If you can afford it, purchase one since this item is priceless and I adore all things oxo. You won't be sorry. AND cleaning it is simple. It goes without saying that any equipment that has had tea smudges dry on it will be difficult to clean. I don't worry about that because I rinse it after each use. These are much easier to use and 10 times better than the Ikea tea strainer I purchased, so I really liked them (sorry Ikea). I began using a tea blend that contained leaves that would break down into ever smaller pieces and contained what looked like extremely fine tea dust (?) Both of these factors made drinking this tea unpleasant. With them, all but the extremely fine tea dust of the loose leaf tea was contained. I'll admit that the metal tends to discolor rather easily. After forgetting to make a cup of tea, I unintentionally left the strainer in for a day and a half, by which time rusty-looking material had begun to appear around the joints. Even after a thorough scrub, the stains are still present but have no impact on the use of the strainer or the tea. Avoid my mistake and thoroughly clean your strainer. Overall, this was a really great purchase, and I would definitely buy them again.

These are still fine after a few years in my possession.
