Best Surgical Masks in 2020

Communicator Surgical Face Mask with Clear Window (Easy Dispenser Box of 40 Masks) FDA Registered Review:

This is what I’ve been looking for since having to begin wearing a mask as a person who cannot take the flu vaccine (this requiring a mask while at work from Nov-March). The window is large enough that people have no trouble seeing my lips. Down sides: the earloops aren’t fastened to the mask as sturdily as with a typical mask. I’ve begun stapling the strings to the mask. Also: I believe these are more tightly-woven than standard masks, thus there is a built up of hot air and condensation on the plastic viewing shield occasionally . But overall this is a great find for me!

Dynarex Mask Surgical Face - Cone Size: 50 Review:

These face masks work pretty well, but since they are much more stiff compared to the cloth (surgical) masks, they don't seem to fit as well - more gaps around the edges. I use masks to keep from inhaling pollen and dust when I'm cutting my lawn on a dry day.

My wife is a teacher, and she uses these to simulate gas masks when the students do a WWI "trench warfare" exercise in the classroom. The masks work great for that. Thd kids color them green.

3M 1860 Medical Mask N95, 20 Count Review:

The 1860 N95 mask is NIOSH certified which means these masks will filter off up to 95% of particulates as advertised.

For effective filtering, make sure you press the metal strip and align it with the contours of your nose so unfiltered air doesn't enter the mask. Lastly, ensure that air isn't leaking in/out of your chin area.

I'm a person that suffers from moderate dust allergy. I'd get sneezing spells while entering a moderately dusty area. Ever since I've used this mask, my sneezing spells have stopped COMPLETELY!

I personally use this mask while doing spring cleaning, and also as a breathing mask for filtering off haze particulates that reaches my home when forest fires happen. Be sure to stock up a box of these masks at home apart from your first aid kit. You'll never know when these masks would come in handy. As an added plus, the head bands of these masks have never snapped off my head.

NOTE: Do not stockpile dozens of boxes of these masks in your home if you rarely use them. These masks come with an expiry date stamped on the bottom of the box. An N95 mask has an approximate shelf life of 3 years.

Dynarex 2201 Medical Surgical Face Masks (Pack of 50) Review:

Alrighty, so I don't usually review products I buy online, but I've noticed a lot of the other reviews are complaining about things that aren't even a problem, so I'd like to give an honest review of these.

For the price, these things are incredibly good. They're thin enough to breathe through easily, people can still hear me through them perfectly fine, and they're incredibly comfortable overall. The fabric is really soft, and the ear loops don't tug hard on my ears and make them sore like other masks I've tried to use.

I've noticed several people are complaining about a strong gas, oil, or other smell that made the masks impossible to use. Because of this, I opened both of the boxes I had bought immediately and smelled each one, to see if I could smell anything unbearable. And there was nothing.

Sure, they have that average faint doctors office/hospital smell any medical product you'll ever see has, but thats a smell people get used to incredibly easily. I got over the smell after wearing one for about 10 minutes, and I virtually can't even notice it anymore.

Also, I've noticed these filter out STRONG smells while I'm cleaning, such as ammonia. It also helps to keep the chemicals out of my lungs while I'm using bleach, whether cleaning or dying my hair.

Masks like these have also become a fashion sense in my area, which is half of the reason I bought these, and man, do I look super cute in them.

Honestly, the only complaint I have with these is that they arrived in one of those flimsy plastic baggie envelopes with a bit of bubble wrap on the inside, and because of that the boxes are beaten up pretty badly. However that doesn't bother me at all, considering the masks inside weren't damaged in any way, so I'm not going to remove any stars.

All in all, these are some real good masks for real cheap, whether they're a fashion sense or for using them for their actual purpose.

3M 1860 N95 RESPIRATOR AND SURGICAL MASK Box of 20 Review:

This is the real deal. Same masks as worn by personnel at the hospital. You can't do better than this. I have had to wear these because of a medical condition and I believe they really help me to stay well. Wear one when you visit the hospital or the doctor (if it is a doctor's office with a bunch of sick people), fly in a plane, or when you visit a drugstore, grocery store or large discount store where many sick people in the community may frequent.

Also, for good health, wash your hands with soap and warm water before eating or touching your face, eyes, ears, nose or mouth!

This is the regular (big) size. There is also a smaller size, which is really small. I would recommend you wear your mask for a while before you pinch the metal strip around the nose to tighten the fit. Once you get used to the feel of the mask, you may not need to pinch the strip. I over-pinched the strip when I first started wearing these, and they really hurt my nose. I also felt like the mask was actually looser in other areas because of the over pinching.

The bottom strap goes over your head and rests on the back of your neck. The top strap goes over your head and rests in your hair about halfway between the top of your head and the middle of your head.

I get about a week of use out of one mask. I may grab a new one if I am going to the hospital, though. Check with your health care provider for instructions on how often to change the mask.

Level 3 Lavender Procedure Surgical Dental Medical Face Mask, Box of 50, PlastCare USA Guardian Review:

I'd rate these as follows:
Softness: 3.5
Breathability: 4
Size/fit: 4
Protectiveness: 5
Color choices: 5

I am very picky about my masks. I wear them all day at work, changing them 20-30x each work day and it's important for them to be soft, breathable and protective without making me feel like I'm suffocating. They also need to not cause breakouts!!! These are ASTM level three and have 4 folds, which is what drew me to try them. There's room to breathe and I haven't noted any skin irritation or breakouts. I also like the flexible double bands, for the nose and the chin. This allows me to customize the fit better and breathe easier. They're fairly soft but these are not the softest masks I've worn. I love the color options I purchased. Not my most preferred masks but they're great as backups and for quick exams. I'll definitely share with my coworkers. We're always looking for good, protective masks that don't cause breakouts.
