As a result, our gym no longer permits hip thrusts using its foam pads. I took a chance and bought this one. The padding was going to be "extremely stiff," in my opinion, and wouldn't be any better than simply thrusting straight with the bar. I've previously used incredibly stiff, hard foam pillows, and they still hurt. Actually, I don't believe this is that horrible. It has adequate "give" and doesn't hurt when I perform the repetitions. For the price in comparison to other options, I would suggest it.

People, this is a piece of foam. Spend as little as possible while yet getting the best comfort. Ok, so this bar has received a LOT of negative ratings. Given that some of them were submitted more than seven years ago, I assume Amazon read the reviews because the bar I received today was excellent. Not a scrap of rust weights less than what is stated in the description. and has excellent balance. Now keep in mind that this bar does have a lower price. It has bearings at the end and is made of metal on metal, which causes some squeaking as you lift. however after using some WD-40 or a similar product, the squeak stopped. Some people objected that the knurling on the bar was not in the proper place. Who cares? I wear gloves with wrist supports, so not me ! It performs admirably for a home gym.
