My son recently advanced to high school baseball and tried a few BBCOR bats, all of which seemed rather lifeless in comparison to his old -5 USSSA branded bat. He developed a crush on the bat when we tried it. Hot right out of the package. Also excellent in Illinois where full composite bats are not a possibility and the springtime might be chilly. We haven't discovered a composite that can compete, not even in warmer conditions. The absolute best bat he has used up to this point.

We purchased this bat to replace one that airport security had taken away because it was in our carryon luggage. It was a memento for a young baseball fan of 9 years old who keeps miniature bats from places he has visited. He was disappointed when security removed the bat, but Amazon quickly made him grin again when this replacement showed up. If you own a collection of miniature bats, you are aware of what to expect and are probably already aware that you should pack your souvenir bats in your checked luggage rather than attempting to bring them on the flight. Lesson discovered the hard way.

It was exactly what was intended. Superb bat. When I contacted Easton corporate about our Easton S650 cap coming off, they were unhelpful and refused to issue a refund or exchange for another bat without a receipt, so I decided to go with this bat. After they forced us to convert to the USA bat, I immediately purchased the Easton bat. The cap on my Easton S650 popped out in less than a month of ownership. A cap cannot pop out due to abuse or any other reason. Given that it was the start of the baseball season, my kids hardly ever used it. They simply didn't have it long enough. Of course, I didn't have the receipt, so the Easton customer service agent informed me that I was out of luck. The warranty for the bat was intended to be for one year. I'm aware that I didn't have the receipt, but the "USA Baseball standard" model of this bat hadn't been available for a year at the time. Why wouldn't the one-year warranty operate by itself given that the USA Baseball standard has only recently begun? Easton ignored my attempts to explain the situation to them. Our home is free of Easton bats once more! It's unfortunate because I played with Easton bats growing up, but my children will use different brands.

Our 7-year-old is 50" tall and weighs 57 pounds. He is therefore slim yet somewhat tall. In Little League, he presently plays coach/machine pitch. Finding a good bat for him last year was a great challenge for us. The 26" -13 (T-Ball) bats appeared a little short, but a 27" -12 was too heavy given the weight problems we all had last year. We weren't the only parents in our leagues that struggled with this, according to conversations I've had with a few of them.We were only given the option of a 2 1/4" or 2 5/8" barrel in 2018. The younger, smaller players were obliged to use a shorter bat to lessen the weight of many of the bats since they were too heavy for them. This bat, which has a 2 1/2" barrel, seems to precisely fill the void left behind when we were forced to switch to USA Bats.We bought a 27" and a 28". The 28" may currently be a little too long and heavy for him, according to him, as the 27" feels better and his swing looks better. We're not sure if we want to be in the -13 space as he grows into the 28", though. Therefore, we'll likely decide to return the 28" and decide what to do when he grows bigger. Having said that, I believe that this would be the ideal bat for a younger or smaller child playing coach pitch or even in their first season of LL Minors.We can't really judge the "pop" because we just hit wiffle balls off a tee in the garage, and it's definitely too early to tell how durable the bat will be. The 27" has an almost cone-shaped barrel, but once more, it will likely work for smaller children who are prepared to graduate from a T-Ball bat. I hope this review is useful; I'll update it as more details come to light.Update 11/28/2018: According to comments and the fact that it isn't readily available, the 27"/14 ounce version of this bat hasn't yet been approved by USA Baseball. A Louisville Slugger representative I spoke with stated there was a chance the bat may be approved by spring, but she couldn't make any promises.I do possess one, which I bought back in September. A misunderstanding apparently caused a few to be sold ahead of schedule. Finding a bat that works for my son is at best challenging, so I am keeping onto mine in the hopes that it becomes certified. He simply falls short of the USA Bats in terms of age and size.If the 27" is not suitable, we may attempt a different model, such as a 27"/15 Easton Typhoon, or go up to the 28" Slugger Solo SPD and let him get used to it. We shouldn't have to make such a difficult decision, it's sad.

Cal Ripken's decision to stop using composite bats devastated me. Simply put, the USA bats lacked the pop that the composites possessed. I finally gave in and bought this bat because, as they say, you get what you pay for. Due to how far my son was hitting the ball during practice, the coach questioned whether this was truly a USA bat. He referred to it as one of the best USA bats he had seen since the switch. I believe you will be pleased with this bat if you purchase it.

My son has reached the stage in his baseball growth where he can take complete swings and, when he connects, drive the ball into the outfield. He was swinging a 28/18 bat, and whenever I took him out to hit a bucket of balls, I got the impression that the balls weren't moving as far as they should have been. I bought this item in the 29/18 size, and as soon as I took it out of the packaging, I could see that the barrel had much more surface area than the 28/18 he had been using. We took the bat to the field for testing after a day of tee work to break it in. The ball had far more carry, and over the course of a few buckets, he hit approximately a dozen more balls farther than his greatest shot in all of his prior batting practice put together. He utilized it for the first time in a game last night. Although he didn't really get too many balls, he managed to get a base hit on one that landed just over second base and bounced just in front of the center fielder in the short outfield. He didn't hit it square, so I was astonished that it made it to the outfield in the air. Remember that this is the first bat I've purchased for more than $70-$80, but compared to the bat he was using, there is unquestionably an improvement in performance.

The 32 inch model of this bat was purchased for my 13-year-old son. In the batting cage, he used it to strike many hard balls. He demonstrated it to instructors at a baseball camp, winning them over. We looked at a number of bats, some of which cost more than $300, and this one's grip is the finest we've ever seen. This is what my son was searching for as he prefers bats with a 2 1/4 inch barrel. USA bats measuring 2 1/4 inches are difficult to locate. Last year, he tried 2 5/8-inch bats but didn't care for them. He particularly like the bat, which we purchased for about $60. Consider looking at the less expensive bats first; you might get an excellent bat like this without spending a boatload. For the price, the Easton Typhoon is a great bat.
