I admit that I was apprehensive about spending so much money on so little solder because I'm a hobbyist who often utilizes whatever is currently available or whatever is least expensive. However, I was pleasantly pleased to see what a difference this specific solder made.On my soldering station's lowest setting, it runs silky smooth, offers a lovely solder connection, and is quite simple to use.The tube shape offers a nice way to transfer solder to your project, even though it allows for less solder than a standard spool. When soldering pin headers, I found it extremely helpful because it enables you to go near to your project while still having total control over how much solder you need at the moment.But Kester's solder really stands out for its quality, and I have never been so amazed and delighted by a purchase that I had never thought would be as significant as it turned out to be.

It performs just like Kester solder, making it some of the greatest solder I've ever used. I absolutely adore this stuff, and I believe it flows into multistrand wire somewhat better than Kester solder does. You just cannot beat this solder if R/C is your hobby. It flows into wire so flawlessly that you won't have small tips on your solder connections from not having enough flux in the solder, and you will easily produce brilliant, shining joints. I wish they produced 1lb spools of it because I would always choose it over Kester even if the price were the same.

For my son's school project, I had to assemble a Raspberry Pi project using numerous distinct parts and micro soldering. Solder paste is what it is. I've used it to create hundreds of solder joints and haven't encountered any of the issues that have been noted with other solder pastes. It consists of balls made of tin and lead suspended in flux, and the flux is effective as well.It appears typical for people to complain about boiling flux causing solder balls to fly everywhere when discussing SMD paste or flux issues. With my iron or my hot air station, I haven't had that issue with this solder paste.I misplaced the first tube I had. It performed admirably enough for me to repurchase it.It appears to be the most recent product, which is said to matter for such things: I placed my order in the middle of September 2019 and received a tube of paste with a September 2019 arrival date.

25 OCT 2017 UPDATE:Although the acid flux bottle states that aluminum shouldn't be used with it (I'm not sure why), it *does* work on aluminum! My drill battery housing just had some metal tabs welded to it, and it worked well! No amount of heat or excellent rosin-core solder would be able to make it work without the acid flux. But as soon as I applied some acid flux to a spotless surface, it adhered right away!RECOMMENDED: Use an old solder tip that you don't care about ruining (as always with this stuff because acid flux is corrosive), drop the acid flux on the surface to bond *first*, get solder on your iron (regular rosin-core electronics solder is fine, but acid-core should work too), and touch a hot iron to the aluminum surface. Boom! The solder on the iron immediately adheres to the aluminum surface as a result of the heat causing the acid flux to somewhat chew into the surface. When finished, gently wash the pieces to remove any remaining acid flux and prevent further corrosion of your connections. My day was saved!Initial Review: October 1, 2016Repairs damaged or ripped stainless steel bicycle wires (for brakes, shifters, etc). My older car didn't come with a cruise control, so I had to install an aftermarket one. My car's throttle lever is connected to a short, twisted stainless steel bicycle-style cable that the cruise control uses to operate the gas pedal. But that cable snapped about a year and a half ago.
