It is also much noisier than this nail grinder. My three dogs—two Akitas, a Dogo Argentino, and I—all respond favorably to this nail grinder. However, because it moves more slowly, it is better suited for routine care than for dogs with exceptionally long nails. Don't get me wrong, it efficiently grinds the dog's nails down, but clippers are quicker (also not as error prone). The charge is incredibly stable. I was able to shape and smooth the majority of the nails on my Dogo Argentino, grind down one nail on my Dogo Argentino that hadn't been trimmed for months because I missed it when I did the other ones, and the charge was still going strong after 15-20 minutes. My Akita's back paws had not had their nails trimmed in several months. Her front paws had recently had their nails clipped. If you do nails every week or so and the dog isn't being difficult, I believe it would take about 10 minutes to do one large dog with this grinder. If you hold the nail you're grinding and apply light pressure with the nail grinder, it will work a little faster.

Although this grinder is extremely quiet and in the high mode performed beautifully on my 65 lb labradoodle, I used the low mode on my 20 lb dog despite trying many other grinders, and they all worked fine. Other grinders took an eternity on my enormous dog because of how big his nails were. In comparison to all the other grinders, I would suggest using this one for different-sized dogs. So, up until a vet tech whacked my Coonhound Channing in the quick at an unknown time, she had no fear of getting her nails cut. Since then, I've had to listen to her sob in utter dread and worry that she would suffer harm once more. I kept telling myself that it would pass. Not at all. I tried medicine before I took her. It had no effect. Given that she is just 2 and has enormous black nails, I realized I had to do something to assist in her rehabilitation and conditioning. It is quite difficult to see the immediate cause of the issue. I researched everything I could find to learn how I might assist her. This was the answer. I'm currently doing her nails at home because I never want her to experience that kind of fear again. In essence, I started off very cautiously using a clicker and a frozen peanut butter treat I made out of a used peanut butter container. I fill the plastic jar with peanut butter and freeze it. I place her on her own bed or a bench I have, let her taste the peanut butter frozen jar, then click the training clicker. For a week, I performed this. I acquired the Dremel over time and would click, lick, and start it. After a few days, I would turn it on, click, lick, and softly touch her with it. After a few nights, I can trim as long as she can lick! I was forced to undergo a very slow rehabilitation. In fact, I completely finished her left paw tonight. It holds power well, is soft, so patience is required, and I simply re-charge it after every trim. I paint two to three nails some nights. It involves training her to accept having her nails cut. This tool performed its task flawlessly. It takes patience, but it's worth it for my baby.

I purchased this to use on our Irish Jack Russell puppy, who is 7 months old. It's quite silent. She was not interested in continuing with the first try, which didn't go well. I was attempting to coax her into sitting in front of me while I manicured her paw. The very following day, I tried putting her paws out in front of me as she was on her back on my chest... SUCCESS! To lessen any vibration from the grinder, I held her paw near to the nail. I started by merely grinding a tiny amount because I figured I might only be able to complete a couple, if I was lucky. I was able to do this to each of her nails because she remained peaceful throughout. I grew bolder and went back over all of her nails a second time, and I was able to get them ALL down to where I needed! She was still sleeping rather calmly (JRs are not known for sitting still for very long, lol). She was positioned against me, which I believe made it simpler for me to control the tool and kept her relaxed because my anxiety level was low. How different the second attempt went astounded my spouse! It will be quick and easy because I want to make it a weekly ritual. I now want to test it out on our kitties.
