There was excess plastic on the interior that I cut off when I removed the old bearings. When I changed the bearings, everything worked perfectly! Absolute silence (use velcrow on the bottom if it rattles against the bottom and keep it away from the walls).FIX: Take the wheel apart so that the axle screw may be removed. Remove the wheel from the stand.With the use of a screwdriver, remove the two bearings (pushing from the inside between the two bearings helps)Check to see that the bearings are spinning freely and are not jammed; if not, request a replacement.Check the inner circle of the black area of the wheel for extra plastic (mine had three tiny "pegs" that weren't taken out during production).Use an exacto knife to saw off any plastic that might prevent the bearings from spinning.Replace the bearings, ensuring that they are flat and fully inserted.

Short version: Lid is left on. I like the size (5 inches) for my roborovski. will improve the life of your hamster! People who claim that the lid slips off have likely put it on incorrectly (rotated), as I once did, which caused it to slide off.The tiniest of the dwarf hamsters, my two-month-old female roborovski, went to this ball like a fish to water. I can put the ball in any room, and she will eagerly examine it. She does this while moving quickly, but the lid has never come off. (I've used it so far for a few dozen, roughly five to ten minute sessions.) That's fantastic because it allows me to multitask while still keeping an eye on her while she's in there. Sometimes I just listen for bumps every ten seconds or so; I don't even have to look.She can lick objects through the air gaps in the ball, which I found to be a curious but possibly noteworthy observation. It must make the experience a little richer for her to be able to smell and perhaps taste things in the room that she enters.I can't even begin to imagine how much of a difference this thing has made in my hamster's little life, which would otherwise consist of her being in her cage or being within two feet of my hands, so I highly recommend hamster balls, in general (and this one in particular, since I have no complaints about it). After seeing her in it, I believe that a ball is essential, much like a wheel and water bottle.Last but not least: Even the owner finds it entertaining! I enjoy seeing her solve problems, such as determining that she needs to accelerate in order to effectively roll over the extension cable or how to free herself when she finds herself in a precarious situation.

This workout ball has been in our possession for a year. Although I've read a lot of reviews that claim these are scary and unsafe for rats, my rats adore this item. When we bring it over to their cage, they literally jump into it. We have six girls, and when we hold the ball to the open cage door, all six of the girls try to get inside at once (we obviously don't let them). They adore being able to travel freely outside of the cage. One of my daughters would roll over to our screen door and sit down to take a whiff of the fresh air. Some of the other girls enjoy running and tearing around our home. However, while they are in the ball, you must keep an eye on them. They appear to really enjoy it even though the plastic on ours shattered after only around six months of use, so I'm not sure it's the best quality. Additionally, we don't keep them in the ball for very long. 15 to 20 minutes should be more than plenty. I like how concise this is. Simply put, clear seems like it would be more transparent than colorful. But who knows. Overall, I would suggest using this for rats kept as pets. Use it only if your rat enjoys it; nonetheless, some rats appear to genuinely enjoy it and find it to be beneficial exercise.My reviews aim to be both interesting and practical. These are absolutely beloved by our 5 chinchillas; in fact, they were the highlight of the season. Yes, the small poos do eventually make a rattle-like sound. However, just the three babies' poop exits the ball. Really, I don't want to consider liquid. I deducted 1 point since we have to tape the doors shut (because the boys and girls live apart, 5 is enough for us:)) and despite cleaning their balls after each run, their nails cause the balls to become hazy. Worth the money for some entertaining workout for our furry friends. Just so you know, our chins can only hold the ball for a maximum of 45 minutes before I start to worry that they are becoming thirsty.

Fortunately, her tank can hold a wheel this size.There was no "set up" required due to the extremely quick shipping, which arrived three days earlier than anticipated.I already knew what to expect in terms of noise level because the wheel I used prior to purchasing the 12in one was also a comfort wheel.They are NOT silent wheels. They're not noisy either, though! The wheel's axis may be heard turning, but that's all. (If it's really shaking, I advise tying a piece of string around the axis so the wheel rests more firmly on it.)Although I've used saucers and silent spinners, the comfort wheel is by far my favorite.Update: Compared to my previous comfort wheel, this one is MUCH noisier. It makes such loud noises! I can hear my hamster's wheeling from the second floor, even though her tank is in the basement.

Due to the excessive noise, it is now difficult to sleep at night.Positives: It's reasonably solid, doesn't have any gaps where my hamster's foot could get snagged, and my robotic hamster fits perfectly.Cons: Extreme noiseI would suggest this wheel if your hamster didn't live in your room, but not if it did, like mine does, and its cage is in your bedroom.The primary factor that counts is how my hamster feels about it, and she loves it, thus I'd give it a lower grade. Every night she runs for hours, and occasionally she just eats while sitting on the wheel. She seems content with it, so I'll just put up with it and figure out how to go asleep with that irritating rattling in the background.Update: it was only loose, as it turned out! The wheel is much quieter now that I tightened the yellow knob on the inside of the wheel all the way. It's been with me for nearly two months and is still functional. You shouldn't be bothered at all if the yellow nob is properly tightened.
