Are K-Cups better than regular coffee?

There's no denying the convenience of K-Cups. Just pop one in your Keurig and you're good to go. But are they really better than regular coffee? It all comes down to personal preference. Some people prefer the taste of K-Cups, while others find them to be too weak. Ultimately, it's up to you to decide which type of coffee is best for you.

Are Keurig K-Cups being discontinued?

As of July 2020, Keurig K-Cups are not being discontinued. However, the company that manufactures them, Keurig Dr Pepper, has announced that they will be phasing out production of K-Cups by the end of 2020. The company is instead focusing on producing reusable pods that can be filled with any coffee or tea.

Are reusable K-Cups worth it?

There are many pros and cons to using reusable K-Cups. Some people feel that they are worth the investment because you can save money in the long run. Others find that the K-Cups are not worth the hassle and prefer to stick with the disposable ones. Ultimately, it is up to the individual to decide whether or not they think reusable K-Cups are worth it.

Can Nespresso pods go in Keurig?

Nespresso pods can go in Keurig machines, but they will not work as intended. The coffee grounds in Nespresso pods are too fine to be properly extracted by Keurig machines, resulting in a weak and watery cup of coffee. If you're determined to use Nespresso pods in your Keurig, we recommend using a reusable filter adapter to give the coffee grounds more room to expand and produce a richer cup of coffee.

Keurig K-Elite Coffee Maker, Single Serve K-Cup Pod Coffee Brewer, Brushed Slate and Laughing Man Colombia Huila K-Cup Pods, 44 Count Review:

I bought this to replace the Keurig I brought to work. In general, I really enjoy this one. It leaks water from the dispenser area into the cup you are holding underneath it or, if no cup is there, onto the tray and onto the counter, which is why it only gets two stars. It only happens seldom, perhaps an ounce or two at most, and seems to occur more frequently when the reservoir is full.It has been well over a month since I contacted Keurig, with ZERO customer service feedback (extremely disheartening). Since I don't have the original box and I don't want to deal with the inconvenience of mailing it back, justifying the reason, going through Square Trade (if necessary), and other related hassles, I pondered returning this device to Amazon and having a new one delivered, just in case it's just my unit.I'm not sure if I will still be a devoted Keurig customer in the future, so for the time being I'm just "living with it."I genuinely hope your purchase goes more smoothly. Again, other from the very annoying leak and the less-than-stellar help from Keurig, should you ever need to contact them, it's a GREAT K-Cup Single Serve gadget.**Updated on 7.26.18: I changed the rating for this review from 2 stars to 4 stars. After numerous tries and eventually receiving a response from Keurig's customer care as a result of my Amazon review, I had to get in touch with them again by phone to clarify the matter. They agreed to replace mine because they acknowledged that many of the older units had this "leaking" problem. I've been informed via email that the new equipment has already sent and will arrive in a few days as of today. A paid shipping label for the Keurig I need to return was also provided.I appreciate Keurig taking the initiative to find a solution because for me, this is precisely what I had hoped for in the first place. Due to the time and effort it took me to have this acknowledged and the fact that I am still unsure whether the replacement gadget will encounter the same problems, it only has 4 stars instead of 5.I'll update my review once more to warn prospective customers if the new one is still a leaker. Otherwise, remember the adage "no news is good news."

Single Serve K Cup Coffee Maker Brewer for K-Cup Pod & Ground Coffee, Compact Design Thermal Drip Instant Coffee Machine with Self Cleaning Function, Brew Strength Control by Sboly Review:

So I bought a Nespresso Virtuoline with Frother to replace my iCoffee machine. I was ecstatic since I adore frothy coffee. I'm quite unhappy, though, because the coffee is never hot enough. I resorted to heating up my "normal" morning coffee in the microwave before pouring it into my travel mug for work. THEREFORE, I started looking for another single cup coffee machine.I was ready to buy the Keurig mini, but I decided to do more research after seeing that it costs $99 (or $79 if you use your Bed Bath

Breville BNV250BLK1BUC1 Vertuo Coffee and Espresso Machine, normal, Black Review:

I don't typically write reviews, but I feel compelled to do so in light of this excellent product. This machine originally caught my attention at a Canadian AirBnB. I enjoy a good cup of coffee in the morning, so I was a little confused when I noticed this gadget in the kitchen (along with a handful of capsules). I turned to YouTube for instructions because I could not find any. To be completely honest, I was expecting a terrible cup of coffee. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised.I simply had to get one when I returned to the United States. I don't usually have good timing, but I got lucky and caught it on sale at Amazon for $99 (including the sampler coffee kit). After two months, I couldn't be happier with the unit. On my counter, the chrome version looks fantastic! Odacio and Melozio are my two favorite flavors. I have one or two cups every day. Although it isn't the most affordable coffee, I still think it's a good value. The machine is available for purchase in my neighborhood Sonoma and Williams, which also kindly handed me some recycled Nespresso bags.I enjoy a steaming hot, half-and-half-topped cup of coffee. Many reviews that I read bemoaned the lukewarm coffee. The answer is really quite straightforward. The machine can be preheated. Simply depress the start button while lifting the machine's top into the open position or while the handle is in the "neutral" position. I think the machine will run for 9 minutes. The heating element warms during that interval (the top of the machine will be quite warm to the touch). Simply make yourself a hot cup of coffee after that. Why the manufacturer doesn't suggest this choice is a mystery to me.Since I stopped using my old basket-style drip coffee machine, my kitchen is much cleaner (although I diligently compost). It doesn't bother me to wash and dry the coffee maker. I've ordered Nespresso capsules from Amazon a few times. They often show up the following day. I've turned into a strong supporter at a little bit over a dollar per cup for a great cup of coffee (with extreme convenience)!

Keurig K-Elite Coffee Maker, Single Serve K-Cup Pod Coffee Brewer, With Iced Coffee Capability, Brushed Silver Review:

The K-various Elite's options are appealing to me. It has a decent filter and is simple to configure. The machine is simple to use and comes with detailed instructions. The filter was simple to install and configure. You may make coffee in four different sizes: 4, 6, 8, and 10 ounces. From the time you turn it on until the coffee starts to brew, it takes less than a minute. You may adjust the temperature; if you want icy coffee, the ice coffee function is useful. When I brewed an iced coffee with my other Keurig, I could tell a difference in the flavor.I'm hoping I'll have this one for at least as long as my previous one! I would present it to someone as a gift! My first Keurig was a gift, and since I used it every day, it was a present that was well worth receiving. If you have to save money, even a modest one for someone. If it had a replaceable filter, I would have given it five stars. As soon as it is scheduled to turn on in the morning, I wish it would brew a cup. But if I didn't place a cup under it, it might be harmful.December 7, 2018 updateTo illustrate the distance between the bottom of my cabinet, I attached images. I had enough room to open the top and insert a K-Cup while still being able to place a storage tray for K-Cups underneath the machine.Up until I cleaned up my "junk drawer," I kept my K-Cups in a tall basket with my other Keurig. I have room in my drawer for 50 K-Cups!I believe that stacking the storage drawers beneath the K-Elite is the only alternative option for storing this many K-Cups.I haven't got a storage drawer underneath it, but I have some money saved! I always look for K-Cup deals, and I appreciate not having to store my K-Cup cartons in my lower cupboard! When they are in my drawer rafter rather than on the counter, I think the arrangement appears cleaner. For me and anyone who does it the same way, it's a money saver and win!Because I continue to learn more about the K-Elite, I have changed my rating to 5 stars.**I'll give it a shot with an espresso K-Cup and revise this assessment.I'll attempt to include a brief video to demonstrate how long it takes to brew from hitting the on button to the time the coffee is in the cup.I would be happy to record a video to show how to make an iced coffee if anyone is interested.~*~ I hope my analysis was beneficial to you.

Hamilton Beach 2-Way Brewer Coffee Maker, Single-Serve and 12-Cup Pot, Stainless Steel (49980A), Carafe Review:

Because of the contradictory reviews, I was apprehensive to buy this coffee maker, but after using it every day for a month, I am delighted with it. To get rid of any lingering plastic flavor, I filled it with white vinegar and put it through two cycles of plain water before making the first batch of coffee. Additionally, I'll clean like this once a month.I can only drink Teeccino Teeccino Variety Pack (Hazelnut, Mocha, and Java) Chicory Herbal Coffee, Caffeine Free, Acid Free, 11 Ounce because I have a compromised adrenal system and cannot consume caffeine (Pack of 3). You brew it the same way you would coffee, and I call it my Faux Coffee. For company, I also required a coffee machine, and I wanted one that could brew single servings devoid of K cups. This is a straightforward device that is quick and simple to clean. It has two water levels—8 oz and 14 oz—that are distinguished by two plastic components that resemble steps and are molded into the tank's back wall. There is no need for measuring cups because the lower one says "8 oz" and the upper one reads "MAX." Since there are two filters, any microscopic grains that might evade the metal filter are caught by the second mesh filter. After brewing, you push up the three components—the drip cup, filter, and grinds—dump the grinds (I use the coffee grounds on my rose bushes since they love the acid) and rinse the three components before setting them away to dry or brewing another cup. I prefer to leave the lid open so the inside can air out. Although the silicone seal appears to be removable for cleaning, I haven't attempted it because it hasn't been dirty yet. It works fantastically on the Bold setting, which drips somewhat more slowly than the Regular setting (which I haven't actually used yet). A few drips of liquid may spill from a cup when used, but there won't be any serious messes.I brew my tea in a 6 1/2" high, 24 oz. Takeya Iced Tea Maker Set pitcher, and it doesn't spatter. With room to add powdered collagen and goat's milk and use my milk frother to combine everything, this container contains 14 oz. Handheld Bean Envy Electric Milk Frother with Whip Foamer and Stainless Steel Stand is ideal for making the best lattes. I can make two 8-ounce mugs of coffee with 14 ounces of water.I like that it's a straightforward machine with few components, meaning fewer things can go wrong. Compared to most coffee makers, the stainless is considerably easier to clean and has a superior appearance. I like how the stainless filter is high-quality and has a strong metal handle so there is no possibility of losing it and spilling the grounds. It is only 6 3/4" wide, 7 1/2" deep, and 12 1/2" tall, taking up very little counter space (17 1/4" with the lids open). It is visible in my images next to my microwave, which is positioned at a typical wall cabinet height. With the metal shelf in place, it can accommodate mugs up to 7 1/4" in height or 4 1/4" in height. The only thing I have against the new model is that there is only one scoop/filter instead of the old model's two. Please give me an additional one.TIP: My grandpa taught me to season the coffee with a little sea salt (or himalayan salt) before it is brewed. It sounds disgusting, but believe me, a dash really does improve the flavor of the coffee, and no, it won't taste salty! I also sprinkle a little cinnamon powder into my mug (but not in the coffee maker!). It provides a tasty flavor.Although this has nothing to do with how the machine works, I thought I'd post it in case anyone was curious.I created a pull-out shelf out of an 8 by 10 tile and thick felt pads since I wanted one but didn't like the plastic ones. My coffee maker now slides out so that I can fill it up, then it glides back up against the wall. As long as the surface is smooth, it works perfectly.

Keurig K-Mini Coffee Maker, Single Serve K-Cup Pod Coffee Brewer, 6 to 12 oz. Brew Sizes, Black Review:

Before they were such a widespread household appliance, I was one of those very early purchasers of a Keurig K-Cup machine. I've persisted with them even though their machines degraded from being well-made to being virtually useless junk and even though they tried - and failed - to forcibly restrict users to just using their own line of pods.I eventually switched from their plasticky home brewers to their commercial equipment in order to acquire the quality it desired, and at this point I possess a K-150, which I believe is one of their best ever products. First off, I am not a newcomer to the Keurig ecosystem, and secondly, I really didn't need another maker. I certainly didn't believe I did.A MINI'S ORIGINI always bring some coffee, tea, and occasionally hot chocolate pods with me when I travel so I can brew a fast cup in my room. However, as I travel, I notice that many of the hotels I've stayed in have the original Keurig single serve compact brewer. Although the version used in hotel rooms is (was) attractive, it is cheaply made and not really appropriate for usage at home. I was quite intrigued when I first saw this new updated K-Mini model. Due to its small size, I hoped it would be a practical option to bring with me when I traveled, to use at our cabin or vacation homes, or even something more special, something close to and dear to my needs - as a single cup hot shot hot water dispenser to use with tea bags or other instant beverages.THE HEATED WATER MYSTIQUEYou see, no one is aware of how desperately needed an excellent single serve, quick hot water dispenser is in the globe. One very inexpensive type that has been around forever has more drawbacks than advantages, and a few versions from Japan that are costly and have serious design issues. Then, for a few months, there was one great model that was available; I should have purchased a dozen of these out of concern that they would stop producing it. They did cease, and although the one I bought is still functional, it is now beginning to slowly deteriorate. I hoped that this new Keurig would help me fulfil the need for a device that I could use to quickly boil water for a cup of tea or cocoa in the middle of the night. This really is it, yes.IN MY CAFFEINEI won't focus too much on the mini's performance as a single cup coffee brewer because it is as you would think and anticipate. By inserting a single pod into the well-known snap-down receptacle, adding a cup of water to the permanently attached reservoir, and pressing a single button, your coffee will be ready in a few minutes. The good news is that everything else still happens if you don't put a pod in it, but instead, hot, clean water that you can use for tea or anything else comes out. It's also convenient that you can select any amount of water between 6 and 12 ounces, depending on how much you pour in. Most other comparable devices distribute a predetermined volume of water, often 8 ounces. This one allows you to make your tea, soup, or cocoa as strong as you wish because it returns the exact amount that you put in.REASONS I LOVE ITNormally, I only give superstar products—the best of the best—5 stars, but I have to admit that this little treasure has me giddy with anticipation. It feels sturdy and not plasticky, and the whole design is a masterful example of how something can be simple yet excellent. The first thing I noticed was that the power cable may be partially or completely stored in a small slot on the back; it has a 3-prong grounded commercial grade plug, by the way. When using it while traveling, you can quickly put the entire chord safely away. If you have it on your kitchen counter, you can only pull out the amount of cord you need to reach the outlet. Although they are clearly written, feature large color images, and are very simple to grasp, the instructions are literally unnecessary. After plugging it in, you open a hinged door on top of the appliance and pour water in. You are not restricted to a specific volume; you can fill it with any amount of water between 6 and 12 ounces to suit your preference for coffee strength or to fill a travel mug. It will also easily fill a full-size auto mug. Lifting the handle after adding water automatically switches on the machine. You then insert a K-cup, press the handle down, and press the very large brew button on top. By pressing the button, you cause the surrounding light to cease flashing, the water to heat up, and your coffee to brew. If you don't take any further action, like making another cup, the power will automatically shut off after 40 seconds. I timed it, and it took just under 1 minute and 18 seconds from pressing the button to having the cup filled. And unlike most similar brewers that go progressively cooler with each cup, the water is quite hot, cup after cup.The fact that exactly one cup of water is used for every cup that is put into it and one cup that is taken out of it intrigued me. Not many coffee makers do that. Additionally, you don't need to clean it because, unlike full-size coffee makers, there is no holding tank. Instead, the water you pour in is pulled straight through, heated, and dispensed. No water collects there to grow mold.WHAT PERSUADED MEYou can tell that this has amazed and excited me. When I first saw it, I thought it would be good to have, but I never imagined I'd use it at home in place of my large, expensive commercial-grade brewer. I was so mistaken. The two are actually now side by side, and I always use the mini whenever I need a cup of hot water for tea, soup, hot chocolate, or any other purpose. What I didn't plan on, though, is that I would use the mini for those occasions when I only needed to brew one K-cup of coffee during the day and didn't want to wait for my full-sized brewer to heat up the entire tank of water or prepare a pot of traditional coffee. The entire procedure of brewing one cup with the mini takes around two minutes, and there is absolutely no cleanup or water left over that could acquire a nasty flavor. In spite of those reviewers who didn't know what this product was, it is actually the FASTEST way in my kitchen to brew a cup of coffee from scratch. This means that I now use this item two or three times daily and that I cannot live without it. You know what it means—I had better stock up on a number of them right away in case they ever go out of business.DO OR DO NOTNowhere does it say that this is a fully functional, full-sized coffee maker. I bring this up because a few dissatisfied users who didn't understand that posted negative comments about the water tank's size or that it isn't intended to be used with those complicated adapters that require manual filling with ground coffee didn't understand that it isn't meant to be used with those adapters. They completely defeat the point of the speed, ease, and zero cleanup of K-cups, therefore I've never understood the value in spending a half hour filling and cleaning those devices in order to save two cents. And no, there isn't even a conventional multi-cup water tank; instead, the warm water is poured into your cup as you add it. It is known as a single serve brewer for this reason. Why anyone would believe that 2 minutes is too long to wait for a cup of coffee is beyond me. My full-size Keurig and Bunn coffee makers both take longer than 10 minutes to warm up before I can make my first cup of coffee, which is longer than the 10 minutes it took me to obtain a cup of coffee the last time I went to Starbucks. The average electric hot water maker needs 8 minutes to reach a rolling boil, compared to 5 minutes for a pot on my stove. What precisely is it that can boil a cup of water in under two minutes that they are comparing it to?HINTSIt's unfortunate that so many people contrast a single-serve machine with full-size coffee makers, which have already spent time heating up an entire tank of water, and only require the user to dispense the coffee. Of course that will be a few seconds "quicker," of course. You can't modify science; it is what it is.

Keurig K-Classic Coffee Maker, Single Serve K-Cup Pod Coffee Brewer, 6 To 10 Oz. Brew Sizes, Black Review:

I've read some reports on this site where the brewer unintentionally stops operating. The first one I bought broke down after two days. After 2.5 weeks, the replacement ceased functioning and behaved in the same manner—it would just stop making coffee. If this occurs to you, the issue might be that the piercing needle is clogged with dirt or coffee grounds (I discovered this by mistake and I blame Keurig for not including any notes or directions in the papers). When there is too much back pressure, the device stops. Simply grab a paper clip, open it up, and insert a length of wire on either side of the needle to clear away any debris. The device operated without issue after that. Keurig will give you a tool to clean that port if you contact them. Try this first if your device tries to prepare a cup but stops before filling it.

CHULUX Single Serve Coffee Maker Brewer for Single Cup Capsule with 12 Ounce Reservoir,Black Review:

My "CHULUX Single Serve Coffee Maker Brewer for K Cups" has been in my possession for about a year and a half. I have consistently prepared roughly 6 flawless cups of coffee over that time with very little problems. I previously owned at least six coffee machines from the Keurig brand, all of which operated for around 8 months before failing. I tried everything on YouTube to make them work once more, but it was ineffective. I finally decided to test the CHULUX since I was tired of their POOR quality. This tiny object has a "tank"-like construction. It just doesn't stop! It was a bit of a shock to go from the BIG BULKY Keruig's to this little item, but I now enjoy its little size and footprint. The architecture of the Keurig tank and water management system is inadequate. Water is continuously held in the internal tubes of the entire system. After taking a few of mine apart to try to identify problems, I discovered that this IS a breeding environment for mold that you cannot see (without disassembly) and cannot get rid of. Only the mold is "killed" by flushing with vinegar or their brand of cleaner. As a result, the mold leaves behind "dead slime" that clogs the system. The CHULUX water pumps last far longer than the Keurig water pumps. Simply said, they can't withstand 6 cups each day for more than 8 months.Regarding those who have experienced water overflow issues, CHULUX products have a problem with a small particle sieve at the bottom of the "throat," where water is poured and then goes through the strainer and into the tank. Simply said, there are too few and too few holes. The water will periodically back flow into the tank if you don't pour it in slowly. I believe they did this intentionally. I have done this by easily removing the strainer with one finger and using the container without it. I haven't encountered any problems with the machine functioning improperly or with the tank collecting foreign materials.Regarding individuals who have experienced the grounds escaping from the pods and contaminating the coffee, the machine, or the counter surface. This problem hasn't affected me. The pods themselves could be flawed or badly built. It might have to do with how you're closing the pod's lid and latching it. As soon as you begin the closure process, the movement should be quick. I make a quick motion and fasten it right away.Regarding how long the water takes to heat up. My last old Keurig was still functional when I initially got my CHULUX. So, I measured how long it took for each after I pushed the "start brewing button" for the coffee to start brewing. The Keurig was around 5 seconds faster than the CHULUX.Faster brewing times (for which I would be willing to pay more) and larger holes in the water strainer are the enhancements I would like to see.

Cuisinart SS-10 Premium Single-Serve Coffeemaker, Silver Review:

When I was looking for a Keurig replacement, I came across this one and a Hamilton Beach that was well rated. I chose to test the HB because it was only $79 at the time. I ought to have been wiser. False or purchased reviews, etc. I ALWAYS choose the Cuisinart because of its greater quality, and this time was no different. The first drop of the HB took an astounding THREE MINUTES to even touch the cup! For me, that was a deal-breaker. That was faster than the full-size Cuisinart coffeemaker I've had since 2000! This stunning piece only took EIGHT SECONDS! Additionally, it is not only quick (you can make a cup of coffee from ice cold, chilled water in less than 58 SECONDS! ), but also useful and beautiful to look at.It includes a replaceable filter and holder that replaces the K-cup holder in the front and is included (there is no need to buy it separately, however I'm unsure if it will fit or operate). When you push an indent, it pops open on the side and is kept out of sight the rest of the time, but more importantly, you can't lose it. It stores neatly buried inside the right side of the machine. You can continue to use your preferred bagged coffees and add two scoops of ground coffee to produce a 12 oz cup of coffee because you can add your own coffee to it (or basically, 2 cups at the same time). Perfect for when I need that extra cup as I prepare to leave for work.It also has the wonderful function of a hot water button, which is just as rapid and enables you to prepare a cup of tea or cocoa. I prefer doing this instead of purchasing tea K-cups because they don't brew tea for a long enough period of time. Put the tea bag in the cup, lift the head up and down to ensure sure there are no grounds or empty k-cups inside, then press the button. The tea will have steeped by the time the cup is filled with hot water. In a hurry, finished with class.I've never had an issue with Cuisinart. You can see and feel quality. With this buy, I'm quite happy. This is unquestionably superior to the Keurig and any other kind of coffee maker I've used.

Hamilton Beach 49976 FlexBrew Coffee Maker, Single Serve & Full Pot, Compatible with K-Cup Pods or Grounds, Programmable, Black (49976) Review:

The best multifunctional device I've ever used is this one! The first benefit is that it is simple to use—just choose one side. So that my coffee is ready in the morning, I typically program my carafe side the night before. With this apparatus, it is simple enough. The single brew side works great, but I haven't tried to program it. My only complaint is that the coffee comes out excessively hot, which probably won't bother most coffee consumers. When I pour my morning joe, I typically add two ice cubes to the cup. But that's just me; the majority want it heated. It works nicely on the single serve, or k cup, side. You only need to check that the bottom needle punctures the k cup when you insert it because of the modular construction of the k cup holder. Simply sealing the lid will be sufficient because the top needle simply needs to penetrate the foil top of the k-cups and does not require much pressure. I brew iced tea on the single brew side. The device features two reservoirs, however unlike conventional Kurigs that keep extra water, the k-cup side only brews what you put into it. Just add the amount you need, and the machine will brew that much for you. The k cup side's height is plenty for my huge travel cups. I hope the pictures I've included will be helpful.I wish it would last a long time!
