It took me only a few minutes to drill the holes and install the screws with the mount in place after marking the locations of the two mount-related screws.Here is the lone drawback. The ring is attached to the mount via a VERY SMALL recessed screw. Even though I had a few tiny flathead bits, I had trouble turning the screw, especially when it sunk more into the ring. I don't see why the screw needed to be so little; throughout my difficulties, I scuffed up the bottom of the ring and slightly scratched the wall. For the ring's retaining screw, I would suggest using a flathead that is small enough to work on watches and other small objects. I tightened the screw after getting a friend to lend me a small enough screwdriver, and it has been rock solid for the past month since it has been there.In conclusion, this ring is incredibly affordable, but before you damage your ring or the wall like I did during installation, get or borrow a little flathead screwdriver! Although I had some reservations, it ended up working out quite well. I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to hang them straight or properly align them on the board. Additionally, I didn't like that the wood was missing. But after realizing I had some leftover scrap wood and stain, I overcame my hesitation and started the project. I lay the board on the ground, pressed it up against the wall to make sure the pipes were lined up evenly, and then I drilled the pipe into the wood with the ends of the pipe against the door. By doing this, the board's pipes were ensured to be straight. Then, to make sure the board wasn't at an angle, I held it against the wall with one hand while checking it with a level. Then I drew circles with a pencil in the pipe nail holes. The board may then be removed so that I can drill the holes and install the anchors in the wall before reinstalling the shelf and applying the nails. There probably is a simpler method, but this one worked for me.However, because my boards were 10 1/2 inches deep and that was far too wide, I had to hang them higher than I had intended. I ought to have chosen 8 or 9 inches. But raising them higher gave the impression that they were slightly narrower than they actually were.

I'm not sure of the brackets' weight capacities, but they can easily support the 28-inch-long, 3.5-by-10.5" beam that we used them for. In the kitchen, there are two brackets per shelf to hold trinkets and a vase; I don't think it will fall!Although I didn't use them, the brackets do come with some mounting hardware, including some drywall anchors. The expanded plastic anchors for use in masonry are included with the good screw-in drywall anchors, however the screws are low-quality black drywall screws. I drilled straight into the wall studs with stainless deck screws.The most challenging aspect of installation is aligning the brackets with the holes you drill in the wood shelf by mounting them absolutely straight; there is no room for error. Although a drill press works best for drilling straight holes, a hand drill can be used if you have patience.
