Manhasset Model #48 Sheet Music Stand, 11/29/18I should feel guilty. I ordered the Manhasset Music Stand more than a month ago, got it the same day, put it together quickly, and was listening to music from it in less than seven minutes from the time my husband carried it upstairs for me. I haven't written a word about it, but it rapidly became my pride and joy and my favorite purchase of the year. I did, in fact, write about it when I advised a friend to get one for his wife for Christmas.I picked up a musical instrument again that I used to play in high school. Starting with an open desk drawer and moving on to my trusty but wiggly old silver, aluminum, 2-piece folding stand, I had my fair share of "music stands." I consumed two of them. Then, I recently acquired a pretty sophisticated steel stand. The main drawback was that the music lip was only one inch deep. Honestly, 1 inch? Even my cheap aluminum stand from 10 dollars has a 1 1/2 in. lip. I made the decision not to play around with the shortcomings and difficulties of a subpar music stand. Spending more money on a premium Manhasset Music Stand wasn't all that unreasonable, especially when it was on sale, given how much less expensive stands cost. There is a 2 1/4" deep lip! I can simply pick up where I left off with my previous practice session by leaving a few of my favorite music books open. Even with other volumes on the stand, the stand is as strong and stable with my 1-inch thick Klose book as it has ever been.I must admit that I saw a lot of reviews where customers complained about receiving stands with missing components, having trouble removing the bottom bolt, and having their bookplates not elevate because the poles were caught. Then there were those who had bookplates that were damaged and "feet" that scraped up carpets and wooden flooring. These problems all kept me from purchasing earlier.I made the decision to stop wasting money after doing so a few months previously on a junk stand. I'm simply too old to put up with music stand annoyances. I came to the conclusion that, despite all the issues some reviewers had, a larger proportion of reviewers had actually received Manhasset stands with all of their components, including bolts that came apart without issue, poles that could be raised and lowered easily, bookplates without dents, and feet that didn't damage floors or catch on carpets (although I did pay $3.71 for the floor protectors).I took a gamble and am glad I did. My practice sessions are entirely focused on the music with a Manhasset music stand, with no trace of stand drama.My pride and joy and possibly the best buy of the year is my Manhasset Music Stand, which I bought to replace the music I had for decades as well as some other items.The stand is extremely reliable and stable. The bookplate is completely backward and upside-down. I'm not sure why or how someone would use it that way (I can't say I understand). The bookplate can also rotate 180 degrees to the left and 180 degrees to the right. Without pressing a button, the pole telescopes easily in both directions. There is no need to tighten a screw or press a pressure lock against the pole once it is at the desired height; you simply cease raising or lowering the bookplate or neck. The bookplate simply remains where you stopped when you quit. There are no dents, scratches, or sharp edges on the bookplate itself. It is flawless. The feet are likewise smooth, so there are no sharp edges to catch on carpet or scrape flooring. As I already stated, I bought the floor protectors even though they weren't required.It's just how I remember the Manhasset Music Stand from high school. It goes without saying that I'm thrilled with my purchase and would strongly suggest it.I'm sorry if I seem like a salesperson, but it's wonderful to have. It might be a bit expensive for an ordinary gift, so buying it for the musician in your life would be a wonderful present idea for a parent, grandparent, or significant other. Two flimsy Onstand foldable music stands that I had in the past both shattered and failed to hold my music binder. Previously, I had to place a 5 pound weight on the ground. The Gleam is quite substantial and, yes, perhaps a little bulky, but it all fits into the carry bag, which is roughly laptop-sized. The music stand is functional. The adjustable sheet retainers are great for keeping music notation books steady when you need to pay attention to the music. Every weekend, I perform on guitar and bass during church services, and I can store this in my Chromacast bass gig bag, which has a particular pouch made to accommodate a portable stand like this one. Therefore, there is one less item to carry and there is no need to make two journeys to the truck. There is a storage bag with a shoulder strap included, which is useful. Keeping your books and folders level on the stand is the only thing to watch out for since if you don't, it may start to tip lopsidedly, especially if you have a hefty folder on it. Only time will tell how long this will persist because it is still early. So far, carrying a large music stand that doesn't fold is far worse than using a terrific foldable stand that is simple to use and transport.

They are robust, dependable, and long lasting (which is why middle schools buy them). I was looking for two music stands a few months ago, so I obviously considered Manhasset. I've previously bought a few simple (pun intended) items from this brand and have always been pleased. However, music stands are something that you just CANNOT have go wrong. Could you picture falling and losing all of your music while a thousand critical eyes peered into your soul? I say, a nightmare! The Manhasset Sheet Music Stand costs $5 more than the AmazonBasics Sheet Music Stand. That was enough of a difference for me to try it.Since I've been using the AmazonBasics Sheet Music Stand for a while, I can honestly say that I'm quite happy with it. It has little possibility of suddenly collapsing and is as strong as any stand I have ever used. Once the stand's head, which is the component that really holds the sheet music, is in place, it does not wilt. The stand is stable on its three legs and does not sway. The stand actually has rubber footings, so when it is accidentally (or purposefully) nudged, it does not even move. If you set up your stand before performing and leave it there for a while, this is a big deal.To mention a few points regarding the stand:1. It doesn't come put together. I put it together in about 5 minutes.2. If you try to pull the head to extend the stand, it WILL fall off. Not the head, but the silver neck, must be raised. The only drawback to this stance is that.3. The head may be attached incorrectly (trust me, I did it). Before you screw it on, make sure you take a good look at it.4. It doesn't need to retract to hold a hymnal.5. It is not easily scratched (I have loaded and unloaded it from a truck bed numerous times).Overall, for the price, this stand is the best available. Even when I have the additional five bucks to buy the Manhasset, I'll still be making more purchases. Though I rarely do so, in this instance I feel compelled. I bought this Donner stand to replace my Manhasset Traveler, and I adore the Donner. It has every quality a stand should have: it is lightweight, small, straightforward to assemble, and strong. There are two shortcomings. The first is not particularly important because an 8 1/2 x 11 folder or sheet music is taller than the easel and can be seen by the audience. This problem would be solved by a black folder. The two spring-operated sheet music holders are the subject of the second, more significant issue. If the music is single-paged and the weather is windy, they work great; however, if the music is double-paged, the music must be placed on top of the holders. Or, as I did, one might unscrew the holders and take them out. This worked for me, but in that case the music would still need to cover the channels that contained the screws. Although it has this flaw, I still adore this stand.

The best portable music stand I have ever used is:Transportable: It may be collapsed by simply releasing the thumbscrews, and when done so, it measures 17" by 3". Numerous stands only have two sections, and as a result, collapse to a much longer size. 9 seconds were measured. Simply unscrew the thumbscrews, take the three components apart, collapse the feet, and stand if you're like me and need to fit it into a briefcase. 14" by 3". 13.2 seconds. I don't use the included bag because it holds together as one compact piece if the thumbscrews are tightened.Adjustable: The rack may be positioned at any height between 24 and 45 inches and slanted at any angle. Once it is in place, tighten the thumbscrews so that it will remain in place even if you hit it or place a heavy book on it.carries the music: If you have a page that wants to turn on its own, etc., you can swing those little springy things in picture 4 up to rest on the music. They do so with just enough pressure to hold it, but loose enough so that it is easy to flip the page quickly. The rack is standard size and additionally has two ears that stick up high, so the big clip that comes with it can grab the top of the music and an ear no matter how tall the music may be. Additionally, the springy objects are fixed to the stand so they never wander off.Strong enough: It would be too heavy to take about if it were as solid as a concert stand. What a wonderful deal. The quality of this compact but reliable music stand pleasantly impressed me. It's really high-quality for such a little cost. Better than I had anticipated, actually. The fold-out tripod is stable even on carpet and can accommodate a lot of books and sheet music. It can be adjusted down low, which is crucial to me, but it is stable at full height as well. The hardware is all well designed, has good fit and finish, and has three sections that make adjustments simple.

I would describe the tension as firm. We tried various books, etc., and it held objects up to the size and weight of a hymnal without any issues.This is roughly the same as our previous attitude in terms of mobility. When it collapses into a single piece, you are left with a dual-headed bulb light with a beautiful, solid spring to attach to wherever you like. The batteries (AAAx3) are inexpensive, have a long lifespan, and are simple to change because this employs a led light.In general, what we anticipated.

I kind of regret not pausing to read the reviews. I do find comfort in the fact that this only cost me $12, though. When completely stretched, this object is about 3 feet tall. You can basically only practice sitting down, which is completely useless for standing.Even if I need a stand to practice standing, I'll still retain it because, in reality, I'm a lazy ass and will probably be sitting down to play, so it's not the end of the world. However, I don't want to sit for too long because it hurts my back, which is a huge bummer! Additionally, it loses stability/flimsiness when stretched above 3 feet; hence, even though it is technically 40", it will tumble as soon as you stop playing music. I lied to myself by ignoring the reviews, ijs. I hope you read this review and pay more attention to the diagram than I did.
