Shade sails are a great way to protect your outdoor space from the sun and heat, but can they withstand a hail storm? The short answer is: it depends. While most shade sails are made from durable materials that can withstand heavy winds and rain, hail can be a different story. If your shade sail is made from a thinner fabric, it is more likely to tear or be damaged in a hail storm. However, if your shade sail is made from a thicker, more durable fabric, it stands a better chance of surviving a hail storm unsc
Yes, you can BBQ under a shade sail! There are a few things to keep in mind, though. First, make sure the sail is high enough off the ground that it won't get too hot from the grill. Second, be sure to secure the sail well so it doesn't blow away in the wind. And third, be aware that the sail will block some of the heat from the grill, so you may need to adjust your cooking time accordingly. But other than that, enjoy your BBQ under the shade sail!
If you live in an area with little to no snowfall and mild temperatures, then you can leave your shade sail up during winter. However, if you experience any extreme weather conditions, such as high winds, then it's best to take your shade sail down to avoid any damage.

most economical shade. The two sails I purchased required some trial and error to set up, but it was definitely worth it. These are quite literally "sails," as they will gather wind and precipitation if your angle isn't steep enough to allow for water run-off or if they aren't securely fastened. In order to prevent it from becoming wet, I created the third and highest attachment point with a ratchet strap to a tree and put two strong anchor points into the ends of the trusses through my facia. If you're trying to hang a shade sail flat or close to it, I would choose that kind because some other "shade sails" are permeable and allow water to flow through (if it rains in your area). I reside in Florida, where it can get hot and rainy, but these sails also deflect the rain. In a deluge, you could stand underneath this without getting wet. They have a flowing nautical vibe and are also quite aesthetically beautiful. They are so sturdy that I've thought about taking them down in case of a hurricane because I was afraid they would take the facia off my house. The older of the two that I purchased, albeit mildewed, could be simply cleaned with a soft brush and some soapy water.

Curve Edge Design: Artpuch shade sails have the curves in the edges to set up tension through the sail. As the corners of the sail are tensioned, the edge curves try to straighten, in turn pulling the fabric tight. This design not only improve the pull strength, but also effectively prevent the shade sail from drooping

fantastic canopy I could have chosen a smaller size, but I managed to fit into this one. It took some trial and error to figure out where to put the anchors while still keeping the rectangle sail's form. But in the end, it is both attractive and useful. This sail is permeable; water can pass through it. Since the rain would otherwise pool in the centre of the sail and rip it, it was presumably built this way. When I anticipate rain, the hooks make it simple to stow my sail. I do it to stop algae from growing on it.Tip: To retain the geometry and keep the sail taut, layout the sail's diagonal lines to the anchor points so that it is stretched equally. This will help if your sail is square or rectangular.

Update two: We elevated the sunshade once more, and my husband strengthened the pergola he constructed. It has performed admirably in gusts of above 40 mph.The sail's/size shade's has been questioned on numerous occasions. I bought the 12" by 16" rectangle. At its corners, it measures 12' x 16'. They have scalloped edges. They dig 4-6 inches down. Just the corners are 12' x 16'. I've included pictures of the 12' x 16' pergola's sunshade in place. It does not fit perfectly, as you can see.It is still a wise investment and provides excellent sun protection.UPDATE: I've been using this product for a while. It is ineffective in sustained winds of more than 25 mph on its own. When it was calm, my husband and I had to put it up, and when it was windy, we had to take it down. Today's wind conditions included gusts of 55 mph and 40 mph sustained winds. The desert is used to this. To keep us from having to keep setting up and taking down the sunsail in strong winds, my husband created a kind of pergola. It has been receiving wind for the past five hours. The tarp, however, has shattered one of the top 12s. As a visual help, I have provided a brief film. This is what it should be doing for 20 to 24 hours. The tarp is quite helpful, and my circumstance is unusual. I'm located in the Chihuahuan Desert's valley between four mountain ranges. Strong winds are more common than unusual. Gusts this high occasionally happen. The pergola functions as intended on an average day when wind gusts are only 25 to 30 mph, protecting the windsail from wind damage.I adore this item! This gives my desert some welcome shade and quickly dropped the warmth inside my cabin by five degrees. In windstorms I have to take it down, but I still adore it! It is simple to erect and take down.

Our back deck faces west and receives direct sunlight essentially from lunchtime till night. I thought about using umbrellas to provide the much-needed shade, but past experience has shown that they can be pricey, fall over, take up deck space with the base, fade with time, and require replacement every few years. On TV, I saw patio sails, and I browsed Amazon's selection. They are surprisingly affordable considering the size of the area they cover, and if you know how to do DIY, they are really simple to install. The Shade

These are what I bought to shield my pond from the intense Las Vegas light. It's a bit difficult to install, so you want to make sure you get it to the point where you can evenly tighten every corner. Before putting the finishing touches on the hooks, wire ropes, and turnbuckles, I tested my connecting points using rope. Turnbuckles are essential for securing it and will make it simpler to dismantle in high gusts, albeit despite last night's insane winds, which knocked over umbrellas and plants, my sails are still in good shape. Of all the brands I ordered, this one had the highest quality. Fortunately, the 16.5 was my first one, so I was able to notice the significant difference when I ordered a second and third one from two other sources and returned all. I finally decided on the second smaller one, which is 12 by 12. I actually required 14 x 14, but after seeing the options, I would only use this Love Story brand.

I fell in love with the first Shade Sail triangle when I bought it three years ago to shade a tiny garden next to my garage. So, approximately two and a half years ago, I purchased a second one in burgundy to hang over the plants on the shady side of my shed. The sand-colored sail eventually developed 2 tiny rips over time, likely as a result of being struck by twigs or other sharp objects, then during one particularly strong wind/rainstorm, the entire sail tore into horizontal shreds. The fact that all the rips ran in one direction was quite fascinating, but it was obviously ineffective for providing shade. So I swapped it out for this one, which is the same size and color, and I anticipate it will last at least as long.I believe that keeping them clean by just hosing them down will help reduce the likelihood of little rips occurring; however, I never did it, so I'm going to give it a try with the new one in the hopes that it will last longer.I didn't really tighten it when I took the shot, but once it was, all the wrinkles disappeared and it had no give.An excellent product all around. I really hope I could locate one to cover my water station that is very little, like 2' x 4'...

After removing a rotted trellis from our patio, we bought this item to offer some shade. Despite the fact that it was only an experiment, the $25 lightning price was fairly feasible. It's a weird shape, but I suppose it's necessary for strength. The essential thing is that it does a great job of providing shade. Despite having a tendency to funnel water to its lowest sagging point, it is not water resistant. That is irrelevant to me. If I didn't want any water on the patio, I would construct a roof. I use tie wraps and stainless steel pad eyes for the four corners so I can adjust the tension. I was concerned about how well it would hold up in the continual Hawaiian breeze, but it has held up just fine for about a year now. It was a very inexpensive experiment that had an equally inexpensive outcome for us. It hasn't torn at the seam yet, despite my waiting for it to. After a year, quite content.

An easy solution for a hot west-facing door cover. Fill a big pot with gravel, add a post, and fasten the other two ends to the house. Compared to a square form, a triangle dissipates wind far better. There is a noticeable difference in that it keeps roughly 80% of the heat from an NM sun off of you. If the slope is sufficient, rain will typically run to the end. has successfully withstood gusts of 40 mph so far and is well-built with rip stop fabric. If you're feeling creative, you can combine with various triangles, shapes, and colors. pleased thus far.Far superior to spending $6,000 on a pergola!

In the fall, my family frequently travels in our RV in New Mexico with our three small dogs. Since the sun is such a strong force, I was seeking for a means to cover their outdoor enclosure with shade. I think I've found the ideal answer. The seams and straight stitching on the waterproof fabric are excellent. It is simple to raise it up by connecting rope or bungee cords to the huge D rings.Wherever you need it to be, the fabric can move. This sun shade will be used by us every day.
Shade sails are a great addition to any home, providing protection from the sun and rain all year round. However, there are a few things to consider before leaving your shade sails up all year round. Firstly, shade sails are not designed to withstand high winds and severe weather conditions. If you live in an area prone to severe weather, it is best to take your shade sails down during these periods. Secondly, shade sails can fade over time if left exposed to the sun. If you want to keep your shade sails looking new, it is best to take them down
Shade sails are a great way to create some extra shade in your yard, but you may be wondering if they can hold up in windy conditions. The good news is that shade sails are designed to withstand high winds, so you don’t have to worry about them blowing away in a gust of wind. However, it’s important to make sure that the sails are properly secured so they don’t flap around in the wind and create a noise nuisance.
Shade sails are an effective way to reduce heat in your outdoor living space. They provide protection from the sun’s harmful UV rays and can keep your area up to 20 degrees cooler than it would be without shade. Shade sails are a great option for those who want to enjoy their outdoor space without the heat.
Sunshades, also known as umbrellas, can provide protection from both the sun and rain. However, they are not 100% effective at stopping rain. Water can still drip down through the fabric and onto the person underneath.
Shade sails are a great way to protect your deck from the sun and heat. But how do you attach a shade sail to a deck? There are a few different ways to do this, and the best method will depend on the type of deck you have. If you have a wooden deck, you can use deck screws to attach the shade sail to the deck posts or rails. If you have a composite deck, you can use lag bolts or carriage bolts. And if you have a concrete deck, you can use concrete anchors. Whichever method you choose, be
One way to keep shade sails from sagging is to use tensioning devices. These devices can be used to attach the sails to the support structure and keep them from sagging. Another way to keep shade sails from sagging is to use a weight at the bottom of the sail. This will help to keep the sail from sagging and will also keep it from blowing away in the wind.
