UPDATE: I've discovered that the 90/14 Sharp needles are ideal since they have a larger thread hole, which makes it easier for the sewing machine needle threader to function because the hook needs more space to pass through. Anyone who has experienced issues with the machine threader functioning is fully aware of what I'm referring about. Once you're accustomed to your machine threader working the majority of the time, switching back to a smaller-sized needle will be challenging given all the difficulties associated with the threader's hit-or-miss operation. Although it does leave a somewhat larger hole than the 80/12, in my opinion it is still well worth it.For thick denim or anything with seams that have multiple layers of cloth, the 16/100 denim is ideal. Be careful because the needle is thick.

The 80/12 and 90/14 are suitable for more layers or thicker textiles, whereas the 70/10 is good for cotton that just has two layers. Like when dealing with light canvas, attaching a zipper, or having fusible fleece between. Sincerely, I use my needles longer than I'm "supposed" to, based on what I've read. For each new project, you are expected to change the needle. However, I usually continue to use them until I either notice a stitch quality problem or I manage to accidently break it by failing to remember to shift the needle position for specific foot (this is the more frequent cause of needle death for me, sigh).

I've never sewn before, but I'm currently making waxed canvas seat cushions for an Airstream trailer I'm remodelling. I purchased these needles after learning that waxed canvas is best worked with size 16 or size 18, and I'm glad I chose size 18. I haven't had a needle break yet, and it effortlessly sews through the waxed canvas! Again, I'm using bonded nylon thread, and I've had no problems. Bonded nylon easily passes through the needle. They function flawlessly with my powerful Singer sewing machine. I have no issues!

After reading the reviews, I bought these. Although I didn't require them at the moment, I only had one needle left, and I knew it would eventually break. Today was that day. Due to the inflexible nature of the fabric, stitching denim is particularly difficult. I was sewing a denim shirt at the time. As you double the fabric, sewing becomes more difficult. I finished the sewing with the purple needle after my own broke. The needle is extremely durable. The hems of the double denim fabric were easy for me to sew. While I was sewing, I could tell how strong the needle was because it never bowed or hesitated to cut through the denim. It fit well into my machine. The needle's little hole is the only reason I only awarded it four stars. I don't have any visual problems, but because the hole is so small, it's difficult to see. I used denim's heavier thread, which made it challenging to get it through the hole. A regular thread should not be as problematic, I think. Nevertheless, these needles are among the best I've ever used. I shall therefore put up with the minor hole's discomfort. When I require additional needles, I will repurchase these.
