I used it to make some quesadillas, which was a pretty unimpressive first use, but it will definitely get lots of use! It's really heavy, which is fantastic for durability and preventing it from being thrown around like cheap cookware. This is not at all fragile cookware. Together, the two pieces form a fantastic Dutch oven with enormous capacity. It's good to know that the nonstick surface is indeed nonstick. The pan warms quickly and uniformly. No matter how long I boil the contents of the pan, the handle remains chilly. It cleans up splendidly. A wonderful new All-Clad piece for my collection. I adore the dimension, which is ideal for my morning oatmeal and sauces.If it is not correctly set on the burner's irons, it will tip over when empty. However, I discover that most little pans will do that, especially if they have a sturdy, log-like handle like this one does.One issue I experienced with this specific pan was that one of the rivets had a jagged edge. It snagged my flesh when I ran my finger over it, cutting me slightly. I requested my husband to smooth it out/file it down a little bit rather than going through the inconvenience of an online return or exchange. This method worked for us, but you couldn't use it if you had the necessary equipment. I will state that this is not a common issue with All-Clad pots and pans, and I have never had this issue previously. Before taking it home, I would have checked it out if I were purchasing this from a store. But since online purchases deny you that luxury, incidents like this will occasionally occur.

In contrast to my Revereware stainless steel skillet, which I used to cook eggs and pancakes in, this one didn't require me to add any oil before cooking.I suppose that no poisons are emitted from the aluminum in this pan because it is enclosed by further layers of metal. (About a year ago, I read on the CDC website that there is conflicting evidence linking aluminum to the development of Alzheimer's disease. I try to stay away from aluminum whenever I can, as long as there is a chance that it might have any impact.This skillet is dishwasher safe, which I appreciate, but hand washing it will definitely keep it in better shape for longer. I regret spending at least several hours trying to select the perfect skillet, and it's a little embarrassing. I found information regarding handles breaking or feeling excessively hot, warping, food adhering, and chemical scents. One of my children says I "need to get a life" with that kind of reading, which is funny!I've saved money and avoided any problems stated in reviews whenever I've spent a lot of time reading reviews for various items I've purchased in what I like to refer to as Amazon Hell. My old 3-quart Teflon-coated pot was no longer functional since it had become too pitted and scratched by people throwing metal cutlery in the sink with it. I've been wanting to try one of these red copper pans for a while, and this one sounded really good. This pot works perfectly and is so far quite non-stick. I adore these pans. We have three more. Heavy! However, I would choose durability above light weight. Very simple to clean, and contrary to what one reviewer claimed, the handle doesn't get hot. It might get hot if you are using several burners and one of them is under the handle, but it is user mistake.Additionally, the coat's exceptional rate of wear warrants replacement with a new one. I have four of these pans, as I previously stated, and there have been no issues with the coating scratching or pulling off. Again, that sounds like user mistake, or perhaps it's because we take good care of our pans. Only hand wash, use a light scrub pad for cleaning (nothing adheres, you never need anything harder), and only silicone and wood utensils; no metal. Who cares how it is touted, physics dictates that if you use an abrasive object, such as a metal utensil or Scotch Green pad, you will ultimately scratch through the surface.Anyway, the major purpose of this review is to draw attention to a bothersome design defect in the 2QT pan's lid. Water gets trapped behind the little lip that is part of the underneath edge's design. It's just bad design that I have to wait at least a day for it to dry on the drying rack rather than being able to hand dry. Unfortunately, Calphalon outsources its customer service, so I had little chance of receiving a response when I contacted them about it. They did give me a replacement lid, but it had the same problem. As a result, I now simply switch out the lids; yes, it's foolish, but I can't return it and I don't believe they make an other kind of glass lid. For a reference, see the image.

I bought this after learning that I had low iron levels and that cooking in a cast iron pan was a good way to add iron to your diet. It couldn't hurt, I reasoned. I frequently prepare vegetarian chili, and I generally use a copper kettle to cook it. Every time I make it, the chili ends up on the pot charred, making a tremendous mess. Since so many are now sets, it took a lot of searching to find a nonstick saute pan. My own was damaged by aging and someone who neglected to observe what they were cooking and burnt little finish there was. I've been using this one nearly every day for the past two months and found it to be excellent. My culinary utensils don't go in the dishwasher.
