Best Robotic Vacuums in 2022

Last update: November 17, 2022

Are self emptying robot vacuums worth it?

Do robot vacuums detect poop?

Robot vacuums are equipped with sensors that can detect all sorts of things, including poop. However, they are not designed specifically to detect and clean up after accidents. If you have a pet that is prone to accidents, you may want to consider a different type of vacuum cleaner.

Do robot vacuums need WiFi?

Most robot vacuums on the market these days require some form of connectivity, usually WiFi, in order to function. There are a few exceptions, but for the most part, if you want a robot vacuum, you need to have WiFi. The good news is that this usually isn’t a problem, as most people have WiFi in their homes these days. And if you don’t, you can always get a WiFi extender or set up a mesh network.

Do robot vacuums replace vacuuming?

Robot vacuums are becoming increasingly popular, but there are still some people who are hesitant to give them a try. Do robot vacuums really replace vacuuming? There are a few things to consider when making this decision. First, robot vacuums are not as powerful as traditional vacuums. They can't reach the same level of suction and they can't clean as deeply. However, they are much better at covering a larger area and they're much more convenient. Second, robot vacuums are not as good at picking up larger

Robot Vacuum, GOOVI 1600PA Robotic Vacuum Cleaner with Self-Charging, 360° Smart Sensor Protectio, Multiple Cleaning Modes Vacuum Best for Pet Hairs, Hard Floor & Medium Carpet Review:

The vacuum looks well made and isn't too heavy at first glance. It was simple to set up: attach the side brushes, turn on, and you're ready to clean the house. My apartment is decently cleaned by it. Every time, it returns with a bin overflowing with dust. I typically empty the bin every two days because it is a large container and it runs every day.My room takes about 30 minutes to completely clean. At 5 PM, I typically start the automatic cleaning. So the house is tidy when I arrive home. And the device is capable of returning by itself to the charging station.Five different cleaning techniques are available: automatic, spot, small-space, edge, and intensive cleaning. I typically use automatic and let it roam the apartment.Advantages: - Large dust bin - Includes extra filter - Simple setup - Relatively quietImprovements needed include: - A battery indicator would be preferable - An app to track where has been cleaned would be helpful - Can get caught in loose cables and small spaces like a bathroom or a closet- Be aware that the device may tip over lightweight items like sandals or empty boxes.- You shouldn't leave cables lying around on the floor because the unit likes to play with them. - You should set up automatic cleaning so the noise and movement won't bother you.

Roborock S6 Robot Vacuum, Robotic Vacuum Cleaner and Mop with Adaptive Routing, Selective Room Cleaning, Super Strong Suction, and Extra Long Battery Life, APP & Alexa Voice Control Review:

App: Compared to the Mi Home app, the Roborock App is significantly better. The Mi Home app has a lot of structure that isn't necessary for operating the vacuum and simply gets in the way because it is built for home automation. The Roborock app is solely focused on vacuum setup and operation, which results in significantly less lag, significantly better maps, and an all-around more responsive and user-friendly UI. The S6's ability to clean a specified room without you having to manually define a cleanup zone as you would with the S5 is one of its standout features. This allows me to have the robot clean my carpet and entryway every day while scheduling every other day for the rest of the floor.Multi-Level/Floor Support: The S5 can be relocated to a different floor, although it is frustrating that all no-go zones from the first floor are lost. Three maps can be saved on the S6. The S6 can be transported to a different floor, and when it is brought back to the base station, the prior map and no-go zones are restored. This is the best upgrade to this functionality. Since I don't have any no-go areas on my second floor, this works out wonderfully for me.Noise levels: The S6 is noticeably quieter on concrete floors than on carpet. When operating the S5 on balanced, you must speak louder while the robot is operating. Normal discourse cannot be altered in order to use the S6. The driving wheels, rather than the turbine, appear to be the source of the most of the noise reduction; it just drives more softly. Although I wouldn't have described it as loud if it had been an S5, I didn't want it to be running while I was on the same floor. The S6 is barely audible while running so it won't irritate you.Navigation: The S6 appears to locate its dock and recognize the area a little bit more quickly than the S5. The map's borders are drawn using the same left side first mapping technique. At least 75% of the time I ran my S5 upstairs, it had a tendency to tuck itself behind a dresser. The S6 hasn't gotten stuck yet and seems to have a better sense of what it can clear.Cleaning Time: The S5 required an average of 72 minutes to clean 63 square meters on the main floor whereas the S6 was able to finish the same task in 68 minutes, representing a 5% improvement in cleaning time. Given that the robot is moving along the defined zone lines, zonal cleanup appears to somewhat lengthen the cleaning process. However, it may be even better with greater multi-floor no-go capabilities. Overall, I believe the S6 is a solid advance over the already excellent S5.

eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 11S (Slim), Robot Vacuum Cleaner, Super-Thin, 1300Pa Strong Suction, Quiet, Self-Charging Robotic Vacuum Cleaner, Cleans Hard Floors to Medium-Pile Carpets Review:

I bought this because my dog sheds, and I was hoping that by running it daily, it will take up some of the dog hair on the floor. What I like: -EXTREMELY user-friendly.-simple to understand directions-has a label on the underside so that if it ever stops and beeps, you can flip it over and it will explain exactly what the sounds mean (one beep signifies one thing, two beeps implies another—which is VERY helpful!).-top color clearly indicates the mode it is in (blue-ready to go, orange-needs to charge, red-problem to fix-such as emptying the tray).-extremely quiet It doesn't affect me at all, so I can work with it in the room (my dog also does not mind it).-transitions seamlessly between my living room and dining room and works well on white carpet (which has a slight bump).-When its battery is low, it doesn't stop working where it is; instead, it just shuts off the vacuum before locating the home charger and charging itself.simply works incredibly good. I use it frequently and am astonished by how much stuff it receives (especially when it goes under things such as the couch).-if it becomes entangled in a cord, it normally moves away after 5 to 10 seconds but stops sucking (releasing the cord or other item). But if you have a short chord, you should hang it (and you should regardless, I just noticed it doing this a few times and thought it was neat, but I do try to pick up all cords).Nothing truly specific to this might be improved.-Although this is true of all robot vacuums, it does not perform well on dark surfaces. Although it hasn't happened frequently, it occasionally gets stuck when moving across our dark flooring and black chairs (I assume because it cannot identify them). My dog uses a black mat for her food and water, and every time it brushes into it, the water pours, but any robot vacuum will experience the same problem.-Additionally, ensure that the document is against a wall since if it isn't, it will move and not charge (self explanatory, but I did not do the first time and it kept trying to doc and was just pushing the doc around the floor).-Finally, if you run it a full circle/battery cycle, you do need to throw out the vacuum particles virtually every time. It beeps when it needs to be emptied and is really simple to dump. Again, not really a problem, just something to think about.Overall, I think this is great! The fact that I don't have to vacuum every day saves me a lot of time and does a wonderful job of getting rid of dog hair and other things that end up on my floor. I would recommend watching your dog with this before using it if you have one. My dog was originally afraid of it, but after sniffing its "butt," she became fine with it and doesn't like it at all. I'm happy with this purchase and would suggest it.**UPDATE**Also, Eufy provides fantastic customer service! They sent me an email with extra details on the product that addressed each of my "what could be improved" points. incredibly impressed

iRobot Roomba 614 Robot Vacuum- Good for Pet Hair, Carpets, Hard Floors, Self-Charging Review:

I wasn't sure how pleased I would be with the Rooba614 after seeing the newer models produced by iRobot and other companies. I gave it a try because I'm a bit of a cheapskate and look at price more often than I should. I purchased this item in "Like New" condition from the Amazon Warehouse sales.Despite the terrible packaging done by "Amazon Warehouse," this resilient little robot showed no signs of wear or damage after being moved around by UPS for two days. However, the product itself is what determines my rating, not the shipping. She cleans effectively for a $250 robot vacuum. For those of us with OCD like myself, this might not be ideal, but if you have faith in it, it will work out. Simply don't watch the vacuum operate because you'll keep attempting to use a "Jedi mind trick" to collect the debris that it keeps haphazardly passing by. Although the brushes do the majority of the work, the suction is comparable to an old dust buster.I live with my three cats, one Labrador, two daughters, and one son. i.e., this thing rarely leaves anything behind despite having seen glitter, mud, and fur. It finds the home charger 95% of the time on its own without assistance and doesn't snag on rug or cord edges. It works well on hard floors, rugs, and carpet. In my situation, the instructions state that the collection bin MUST be emptied after every use. Although this model lacks WiFi and "scheduled" cleaning, I'm more than happy to press the button and leave for the savings! Now, if only iRobot could create a version of this that could climb stairs.

eufy BoostIQ RoboVac 11S MAX, Robot Vacuum Cleaner, Super-Thin, 2000Pa Super-Strong Suction, Quiet, Self-Charging Robotic Vacuum Cleaner, Cleans Hard Floors to Medium-Pile Carpets, Black Review:

I've always believed that these robot vacuums are a bit of a pointless gimmick that costs too much to achieve too little. I came up with justifications like "My home layout is too intricate!" and "I'll need three of them to vacuum my home" after a handful of pals raved about their robovacs. However, the robot wars have made them more affordable and superior, so I finally gave in on a fantastic price with this new model from a reputable manufacturer. With this unit, I don't think I even need the house mapping tools and no-go zones that I wasn't ready to pay for. It turns out that I am ecstatic about the quality and value of these Eufys. There is little question that this device is only marginally more intelligent than a bag of hammers. The fact that I can make it do its work at 4 AM when I don't care how many times it passes over the same area or misses something that is just "right over there, you stupid bleeping robot," is a blessing. But every day, a container full of items is brought home by this assembly of electronic sensors attached to a vacuum. I don't even know where it gets the stuff anymore, and I'm definitely doubting my capacity to keep my house clean. And also a little embarrassed by the squalor I've been residing in without even being aware of.It goes in areas it probably shouldn't, and watching it will torture your brain if you have any degree of OCD. It crawls underneath shelves and furniture where it barely escapes, plays ping pong with chair and table legs for a while, and develops an odd obsession with the transparent storage bins under my guest bed. It will spend a lot of time in one room or region before moving on, only to return two minutes later "That was, in fact, the *least* effective way to accomplish that. Anyhow, a goldfish is more intelligent than you." It enjoys chasing my cats, who will then engage it in a fight for control of the house by swiping at it and attempting to eat the spinny brushes as it approaches. It softly rams itself into a piece of furniture to remind you how stupid it is just as you start to feel the tiniest inkling of intelligence and have this "It's alive!" moment. I'm not sure how it does it, but most of the time it manages to locate home base for charging while appearing as like it couldn't get out of a paper bag.Nevertheless, despite the layout's constant changes, it functions. It works well with my wood flooring, various area rugs, and a small patch of medium pile carpet. In my house, it has never attempted to cross a stairway. My main floor is complicated, 1,000 square feet in size, and has a U-shaped plan, which makes it difficult to navigate. But it does it 70% or more of the time every day without my having to think about it. I'd say the suction and pickup mechanisms are fairly good given how much cat fur and dust this device gathers up every day. The specifications state that they are superior to previous Eufy or other branded devices, however I am unable to confirm this.I was concerned about how much of my way of life I would have to alter to accommodate this. It turns out, not much. It won't want to eat everything in its path, so I can still leave things lying around if I want to. It does attempt robot suicide periodically on various cat toys that the cats leave around, but that only happens maybe once every ten times when it needs saving. It likes to pile up a rug in my kitchen, but it is simply a minor inconvenience and does not damage the animal. I have to be careful not to leave cords or other items lying around. Every few weeks, it won't make it all the way home, but by the time it dies, it's typically pretty darn close to the charging station. To "rescue" the device from its own idiocy was more work than I anticipated, but the benefits far outweigh the discomfort.I understand why some individuals enjoy these things. And there is a significant likelihood that I will purchase the three I require, either this one or others. But for the time being, I'm content with this one. It's a five-star cat toy and a pretty practical household gadget that will save you time and enhance the maintenance of your house. If my ideas significantly change, I'll update this rating, but for now, I give this "stupid, smart thing" 5 stars.Update: After running this device virtually every day for about 4 months, one of the side brush motors began to fail. I swallowed it up and phoned assistance instead of instantly dropping the stars I would have given if a product had started malfunctioning so fast. I expressly asked to immediately perform a self-repair of the brush motor. They didn't ask me to send it in for repair, demand an expensive replacement that would have to be shipped from another country, or challenge my judgment in deciding to fix my own equipment. They just informed me that they had the component in stock, requested my address, and mailed the brush motor. They then affirmed that they would continue to support me until it did if this didn't make it operate properly. They complied with my every request, supported their goods wholeheartedly, and for that, I will not take away even one star from my previous rating.

eufy [BoostIQ] RoboVac 15C, Wi-Fi, Upgraded, Super-Thin, 1300Pa Strong Suction Quiet, Self-Charging Robotic Vacuum Cleaner, Cleans Hard Floors to Medium-Pile Carpets Review:

Am I a total dork because this little guy is sort of fun to watch cruising around, doing it's thing?! I have been very interested in trying a robovac out as we have two cats and wanted to see how it would do picking up the litter they track out of the box. Overall I am pretty pleased with this little unit though it will definitely not replace my regular Dyson vacuum. This robovac did a good job picking up that stray litter and cat hair, as well as other crumbs and such that were on the floor. I did notice when I set it to pick up a pile of litter I had swept up that the rotating brushes basically sprayed the pile all over the place but then did eventually pick most of it up. I do have quite a few transitions from hard-floor surface to carpet and this little guy trundles along without any issues, also tackling most rugs on the floor with ease. The setting I have used most is the edge setting and while it isn't perfect it does a pretty good job of sticking to the outside edges and getting the bits of dust and hair that always seem to collect there. You definitely do have to clean out the dust trap after each sweep through as that container is fairly small but it is fairly easy to remove and empty so not a huge deal. The unit was fairly quiet as well, much less than my Dyson stand-up and little cordless vacuums, so that was a nice bonus. This will largely be used for sweeping through the house every couple of days to pick up the little bits around but I still think I need to use my stand-up Dyson to really get a good deep clean on my carpets. The price of this unit was so reasonable compared to others I wasn't sure about the performance but so far I would say I have been impressed and would suggest giving this unit a try if you have been wanting to try one out and have smaller, crumb-type bits that you are looking to collect.

ILIFE V3s Pro Robot Vacuum Cleaner, Tangle-free Suction , Slim, Automatic Self-Charging Robotic Vacuum Cleaner, Daily Schedule Cleaning, Ideal For Pet Hair,Hard Floor and Low Pile Carpet Review:

I've had Simon, my robot pal, for a week. When the box was first opened, there was a "Oooo Aahhh" reaction. The instructions advised letting your new robot friend charge for an entire night before using him for the first time, but of course I ran him about right away to check how he functions! He put in approximately five minutes of work. He can find his own way home just well, despite the fact that I was unable to get him to his home (the charging station). I advise you to spend some time becoming acquainted with the remote and reading the instructions. Simon took almost 4 hours to fully charge, after which I let him go. Just to be clear, I believed my floors to be clean—or at least reasonably clean. It turned out that they weren't. They were in no way clean. It's unreal how much fur, grime, and dust Simon has collected. My floors have never looked better, really! They are spotless. genuinely clean. I've always struggled to clean under the bed, but thanks to my robot friend, I don't have to bother about it at all anymore.I have tile and hardwood floors throughout. I also have a few thin and thick throw rugs. Simon does an excellent job cleaning the floors and moves easily over the area rugs (though he might turn up a corner, but he will run back over it and still get it clean). If your home is primarily or entirely carpeted, I don't believe your robot friend would function very well. You will adore your new robot friend if your home is partly or entirely made of hardwood.Simon travels from room to room very well, but he needs assistance with "up" entry points. He cannot, for instance, climb up the hump into my kitchen, but he can. Additionally, he struggles to climb the barrier to enter the restrooms. This is actually okay with me because I prefer to be in charge of when he enters the kitchen in order to shake off the rugs and/or pick up the cat food and water bowls, as well as any shoes or other items that could be on the floor. To prevent him from leaving the kitchen when it's time for him to clean it, I simply placed a bar stool in his path.Simon will do the cleaning for roughly three to five hours. He doesn't really have a "plan," in the sense that he doesn't go from corner to center of the room, but he is still very thorough, and it's clear that his strategy is far superior to mine given how much cleaner my floors are now than they ever were while I was in charge. My recommendation is to simply trust the process and let your robot companion navigate on his own! Just be careful to pick up any wires, especially small cords like phone charging cords, shoe laces, and the like, to prevent him from unintentionally grabbing onto something. Simon has sensors as well, so when he approaches a piece of furniture or a wall, he will slow down and bump it gently before turning in a different direction. I've also seen that he frequently cleans in a circle all the way around chair or table legs if he comes into contact with them.Your robot friend will return home by himself once he has finished performing your dirty work for you. You might not have given your robot companion enough room if he is having trouble finding his way home. How is that treating your new best friend? Make sure there are several feet of room available for him to move around in front of his charging station as well as a few feet on either side of it. Also, remember to empty his trash can after each use.The "give a mouse a cookie" effect that my new robot friend appears to have had is one of the lucky side effects. If you show someone a spotless floor, they might respond, "Oh, this place looks so clean; let me pick up this shirt and put it away." The individual next observes that the bathroom trash can is overflowing; since the floors are so attractive, the restroom ought to be clean as well (cleans restroom); and so on.My new robot friend's sole flaw—which isn't really significant—is that he's—well, he's not very loud, but he's also not particularly quiet either. Therefore, if you are operating your robot companion while you are at home, you may need to slightly increase the volume of the television you are watching. But it's well worth it for the service he offers.I do, overall, suggest this tiny robot. With this buy, I am quite happy. Don't be hesitant to hit the Buy Now button if you're looking for a robot floor cleaning wizard.

iRobot Roomba 675 Robot Vacuum-Wi-Fi Connectivity, Works with Alexa, Good for Pet Hair, Carpets, Hard Floors, Self-Charging Review:

My husband has offered to buy me a Roomba on several occasions, but I have always declined because I didn't think they would be worth the money.Enter the Roomba 675, which, while I was offered the chance to review it through Amazon's Vine Program, doesn't obligate me to write a positive review. I actually passed it by 3 times, before saying, 'Eh, why not? I'd be the ideal candidate to test one out because I anticipate being unimpressed! Our family immediately named her Hazel, and after several hours of hard work, I have no qualms about keeping her on my payroll. ;-)First things: I am not the best housekeeper. I tend to be a clutterbug, and I am not faithful at daily sweeping and vacuuming. I have 2 children and 2 cats, so lots of dirt accumulates each day. I read the instruction handbook, plugged in home base, and had Hazel charge overnight (she really only needs around 3 hours to a full battery, but I wanted to test her out in the morning after we'd both had a decent night's sleep). In the morning, the kids and I made sure no blankets, toys, or cords were on the floor and pushed Hazel's 'clean' button. Off she went... in a very random, haphazard pattern. I knew this was how she would probably travel, having read other reviews, but it was still odd to me. I relaxed while she puttered around my first floor, about 1200 square feet of mixed hardwood, vinyl, and carpeting. She is not very noisy. Much less than a regular vacuum cleaner for sure! I would say it sounded like a fan on high, which really wasn't bothersome. Hazel really had no trouble around furniture or traveling over transistion strips from flooring to flooring. After about an hour of buzzing around, Hazel docked herself and played a 4-5 note jingle.Even though she seemed to go in such a random fashion, I could tell my floors were clean! There were a few missed spots on her very first go, but by her third time, no area seemed to go unnoticed. Hazel now seems to 'know' my house and is keeping my floors clean! I feel like I can go barefoot with her on the job!!After Hazel ventured under the china cabinet (who knows when that area last saw my broom), my son said, 'Hey! The fuzzies are gone!! She's good!'One day, Hazel beeped and began 'clicking.' I noticed her 'dock' button was blinking as well... I don't know if the two were actually related, but my son paused her and we checked underneath to find a usb charging cord wrapped around her brushes. How simple and easy it is to remove the brushes! We untangled the cord, pressed start, and Hazel happily finished her cycle.Since then, she has only gotten stuck once - in the 'flaps' of the rug that go around the toilet. She beeped at us to let us know, and we quickly unstuck her. There have been a few times we thought she might be stuck under the dining room table in the labyrinth of chair and table legs, but after some bumping and spinning and bumping again, she eventually finds her way out.I could not test the wifi and app feature - as I live in a black hole with no wifi. But, I think being able to schedule Hazel is awesome. For now, we have to do all the work: bend down and push a button. Hmph! ;-)Really, Hazel is a dream. No, she doesn't deep clean edges or get under some furniture, but honestly, she's keeping my floors cleaner than I manage to on my own! I am so very happy with her! Now if only she could make dinner...!

iRobot Roomba E5 (5150) Robot Vacuum - Wi-Fi Connected, Works with Alexa, Ideal for Pet Hair, Carpets, Hard, Self-Charging Review:

We have owned a few different Roomba vacuums over the years. Their relatively expensive maintenance requirements, limited capacity for vacuuming trash, and inability to maneuver in spaces where objects were on the floor, particularly extension cables, were their main drawbacks back then. I got this Roomba e5 model because the last one we owned was several years ago and I wanted to check if anything had changed. This vacuum comes wrapped extremely well and safely. Actually, there is nothing to put together. The vacuum is simply placed on the base unit (charger) after being plugged in. Before using the vacuum for the first time, the instruction booklet advises letting it charge for at least three hours. Downloading the iRobot Home app for your smartphone or tablet is also advised since it makes it simple to register your new Roomba, take you through connecting it to your Wi-Fi home network, and customize it as you like. Although the Roomba may function without the app, it does allow you to do things like schedule vacuuming, view battery life, track usage, and other things that are only possible with the app. The app is incredibly simple to use, and I had no trouble connecting the vacuum to my Wi-Fi network.I used the vacuum to clean our master bedroom after setting it up using the iRobot app and completely charging it. We have six indoor cats, so our king-sized bed gets extremely dirty, so I was very curious to see how the vacuum would work. I placed the charging station in the bedroom, locked the door, and used the app to start the vacuum. When I returned to the bedroom after the vacuum had finished cleaning, it was resting on the charging dock recharging itself. Cat hair and debris filled the debris container, which is significantly larger than previous Roombas we have owned. It was quite simple to take it out of the vacuum, empty it, and put it back. The handbook suggests replacing the little air filter, which is easily accessible and located near one end of the bin, every few months. The vacuum's multi-surface brushes are located on the bottom and are simple to reach, remove for cleaning, and replace as required.Consideration is given to battery longevity. Our master bedroom and our spacious master bathroom can be vacuumed in about 90 minutes, according on the battery life of the vacuum. Therefore, it probably won't last long enough to vacuum your whole house on a single charge. In our case, we have a second Roomba to vacuum the remaining 600 square feet of our ground floor. If you have a large area to vacuum, though, it's something to keep in mind.I enjoy this latest Roomba model overall. It clearly outperforms our previous models. Our hardwood floors are cleaned well, and I particularly appreciate the bigger trash container. Although you still need to pick up anything off the floor before using the vacuum, especially any electrical wires, it did not get stuck while cleaning like our earlier ones occasionally did. The vacuum's cleaning job, including when it was finished and how long it took, is recorded in the app. This iRobot Roomba is unquestionably something you should think about if your home has tile or hardwood floors.I make an effort to create insightful product reviews. Please let me know by clicking the "Helpful" link if you considered my review to be helpful.

Is Shark just as good as Roomba?

If you're looking for a robotic vacuum, you may be wondering if Shark is just as good as Roomba. Here's a brief comparison of the two brands to help you decide. Shark's robotic vacuums are known for being powerful and lightweight, making them easy to maneuver around your home.
