You can roast a turkey on a baking sheet, but it's not recommended. Baking sheets don't provide the same even heat that roasting pans do, so your turkey is more likely to come out unevenly cooked.
A Dutch oven can be used in place of a roasting pan, although it will not conduct heat as well as a metal pan. A Dutch oven can be used for slow cooking and braising, so it is a good option if you want to cook your meat over a longer period of time.
A Pyrex dish can be used as a roasting pan if it is the right size and has handles. If it does not have handles, you can use foil to create handles.
A roasting tray can be placed on the bottom of the oven if it is the right size and has handles that allow you to easily remove it. You should also use an oven liner to protect the roasting tray and prevent it from sticking to the oven floor.

This roasting pan easily supported the 20-pound turkey that we roasted in it this year and fit properly in my 27-inch oven. We had previously only ever used the bulky but disposable metal pans. That all changed when the one we used for Thanksgiving this year bent and spat hot turkey juices inside the glass of our double oven doors and all over our floor. With the large bird inside, this new roaster's solid handles make it easy to transport, and it has a lift-out rack that makes it simple to carve the bird and use the dripping for gravy. The nonstick finish was also simple to clean. I'm still mad with myself for not purchasing this years ago.

The pan is ideal for my enormous lasagna that I make for family gatherings. My only issue was that my pan had a minor damage in the side when it arrived. The blue pan is precisely how it appears in the photo. I'll add this observation to my earlier evaluation. In this pan, I've cooked numerous dinners. You have no idea how much I adore this pan. Cleaning is simple on its own. Due to being ill, I even allowed a dirty pan to sit out for several days. I anticipated soaking it for a few hours when I went to wash it. NO, a simple rinse was all that was needed to clean this pan. The fact that I can no longer move big pans as I become older is another huge perk for me. This pan's weight is ideal.

a $30 purchase made during the Thanksgiving week sale! Oh my goodness, this pan is priceless. Every year I end up spending between $10 and $15 on a new pan from Walmart or World Market, and I always regret it. When I cook my turkey on high heat, my pans become seriously messed up and the pans go into the oven. When I finish cooking and create the gravy, I can't stop wondering: "I wonder what is coming off of these pans and going into the gravy." Anyway, this year, roasting the turkey over high heat was absolutely no trouble, and I had no popping of this lovely pan. I cooked some AMAZING gravy. Direct flame popping is still not possible. It left no stains. It didn't adhere (surprisingly with stainless). I don't wash this pan after the meal; I just put the turkey in the fridge for three days. And then I clean this bad boy after choosing the bird. There were NO stains or scratches on the pan. This pan is incredible. Having this pan would lessen my enormous "where the%@#* do I get my pan this year!!!!?" worry because I prepared a 24 lb. Turkey for 20 guests.

It's funny, I tell you. I never had to purchase a broiler pan in my life because there was always a stove nearby wherever I moved, and whenever there was a stove, there was also a big, heavy broiler pan in the house. Until I retired and acquired my current house, that is. No broiler pan, despite the nice appliances. which made me realize that not all broiler pans were enormous. I enjoy this little piece because I rarely cook for a crowd, live alone, and am no longer a youngin'. It has premium construction and materials yet is still small, like a sports vehicle. Room for me and a friend, and that's more fun and certainly big enough! I would use it less frequently if I had to clean a large one; that is a simple fact. This pan fits easily in my little sink and is simple to clean. It's dishwasher safe, but I've found that hand washing it makes it appear fresh new. It was temporarily dimmed by the dishwasher. With my small broiler pan, I'm overjoyed. Purchase one, then grill a delicious filet mignon for yourself. Alternatively, bake your dinner rolls or chicken breasts in the bottom. It will be far more frequently used in my home than all of my prior broiler pans combined!

This turkey pan seemed glossy, so I got it. I wanted a shining pan, and it is at least as shiny as it appears in the picture. It's still as sparkling as ever even after being cleaned in the dishwasher (which worked out to be wonderfully clean). Would have handled a much larger turkey, but it worked well for my 15-pound turkey that I roasted at 450 degrees.Note: According to another reviewer, her pan bent after cooking and was challenging to wash. It's because she didn't first add liquid to the pan. To catch the delicious drippings that may be used to make gravy later, I always add chicken stock to the pan at a depth of approximately half an inch. The pan won't bend or develop difficult-to-clean burnt-on material as long as it has some liquid in it. Also, I roast the turkey for an hour at 450 degrees before turning it over and roasting the breast side for an additional 40 minutes. That produced a gorgeous turkey. I have had nothing but positive experiences with Cuisinart and their goods.Disclaimer: Despite being a top reviewer, I no longer submit negative reviews on Amazon because they have recently been ignored. Therefore, I just don't submit a review if I don't like a product.

My brother-in-law and his wife pasture-raised our 26-lb frozen turkey, and I realized it wouldn't fit in my largest roasting Granite Ware, so I purchased it on December 20. The fact that I had time for it to arrive before actual use made me happy to see this. As soon as I got this, I tried to get the turkey onto the pan while it was still frozen in the cooler where it was thawing. Perfect! Here are pictures of the turkey during the trial (when it was still frozen), the night before baking (when it had been removed from the brine and had stuffing in it), and finally, after it had been roasting for at least five hours (I also had enough liquid to turn into gravy, without having to add water). I always receive the best roast chicken or turkey from Granite Ware! (I've tried various kinds before, but nothing compares in terms of price and effectiveness.)

For braided egg bread, I was looking for a proving and baking container (holy, challah, stolen, etc.). This round roaster is the ideal size for two levels of braiding and two cups of flour (full or half) (I fill each strand of dough with raisins soaked in rum and orange rind).Bread that is unsteady or that has loose bread ends are no longer a concern for me. This roaster's cover fits snugly, producing steam throughout the first 20 minutes of baking (no more tenting of dough). The baked bread started to evaporate almost before I had a chance to take a photo, which was the one drawback to this roaster.Get this roaster if you're hesitant to cook your own challah; you can't go wrong.I might find additional uses for this roaster in the future, but for now, having it is worthwhile even for the aforementioned justification.

This past weekend, I used it to Tandoori roast a 4-pound turkey. The pan is silent and, how would I call it, "sturdy and substantial weight." It is not like most broiling pans, which produce hollow noises when tapped. The bird fit the pan well, and I placed a heavy-duty piece of foil below to speed up cleanup, but I believe the foil recoiled when I moved the pan and the liquid spilled on it. I was worried that this would mean hours of scrubbing, but happily it did not require that. Once cleaned with some warm water, light soap, and a standard cleaning brush, the bird was thoroughly cooked and wouldn't stick to the rack when taken off.Because we have a little oven and kitchen, this pan fits our demands in terms of size. Therefore, please carefully review the dimensions before clicking the "purchase" button.

This exact pan was used by my mother and aunts to bake, with consistently wonderful results. After thirty years of experimenting with various pots and pans, I've come to the realization that some things, like this pan, are simply better the way they were intended to be. I'm overjoyed to have it. My initial batch of stuffed peppers turned out perfectly. Meals and leftovers fit well in the pan. The top is sufficiently high to provide space without squashing the food. Plenty of area for potatoes, carrots, and celery in a baked chicken dish. To consider how much time and money I have wasted on items that I ultimately had to discard because they were ineffective. Excellent experience with my USA-made buy.

I am pleasantly impressed by how well this works considering the cost. I've used it successfully to prepare a number of feasts, including my 13-pound Thanksgiving turkey. If the turkey had been wider, it would not have fit, so if you need a huge roaster, find elsewhere. I am thrilled with this purchase, especially for the price. The flat rack is the reason I didn't give it five stars; a v-shaped rack would have been much better for a big chicken or turkey. I merely trussed the bird and covered its wings with an aluminum foil ring. I think this product is incredibly simple to clean and would highly suggest it.
A good roasting pan can make all the difference when it comes to making a great roast. A roasting pan with a good design will help to circulate the heat evenly, so that your roast is cooked evenly throughout. It will also have a good non-stick surface, so that the meat does not stick to the pan and become dry. A good roasting pan is an essential piece of equipment for any kitchen.
If you're cooking a roast, you may wonder if you should put water in the bottom of the roasting pan. Although some recipes do call for water in the bottom of the pan, it's not necessary. The water can actually make the roast less flavorful and more dry. If you don't want to use water, you can instead use beef broth, wine, or even fruit juice to add flavor and moisture to the roast. Just add a few tablespoons to the bottom of the pan before cooking.
No, a roasting pan does not need a rack. A rack is only necessary if you are using a very large roast that will not fit in the pan without one.
Pyrex is a good choice for roasting because it is durable and heats evenly. It is also non-porous, so it won't absorb food odors or flavors.
There is no one definitive answer to this question as it depends on personal preferences and what you are trying to achieve with your roast. Some people prefer to roast their food uncovered so that it browns and crisps more, while others find that covering the food helps it to retain more moisture. Ultimately, it is up to you to experiment and see what works best for you.
