Because most of these fans only have lights pressed onto the motor shaft, which makes switching them out easy, I decided to take a risk despite my reservations. When the product arrived, it was carefully wrapped, and everything put together just like the standard unit. I bolted the motor to the vent body and replaced the freshly cleaned filter before plugging in the electrical socket and flipping the switch to turn it on. It was precisely sucking out the air and barely vibrated. This fan is really a touch quieter and moves more air than the stock one; it was well worth the money and much simpler to install than a new hood.Before buying it, I made sure the motor was bad with my fluke meter. You may check to see if you have power by unplugging the motor from the vent body, inserting the meter leads into the vent connector, and switching the switch between the low and high positions. If you do, the problem is with the motor; if you don't, the problem is with the switch. I gather from reading that these hood devices are prone to failing switches and motors.

We purchased this since our really outdated Broan bathroom fan with a heat light was quite noisy. Our engine had an L-shaped bracket, whereas this one has a U-shaped bracket. Although the fan squirrel cage that came with the motor was too large, the motor fit well into the original L bracket. We discovered that we required a little additional clearance after installing the old squirrel cage on this motor. We finished by adding a couple washers to move the motor back 1/8" on the bracket. The sound of the bathroom fan is now gone! Others may have newer Broans that accept the U-shaped bracket, making installation simpler.

Excellent replacement fan setup, simple installation, bolted in place, and the socket was the perfect length. Only 0.9 amps instead of the original 4.5 amps is a negative. It does not draw as much airflow as a result, so you might need to leave it for a little longer. When the next one goes out, I'll buy it again because of the price. I have two bathrooms with these, but the old ones lasted between 20 and 22 years, so if they last that long, I'll consider it a success.As of April 30, 2018, this fan is once again producing the same grinding sound as the previous one. At least we got approximately three years out of it, so I guess it's time to buy another one. Because it is in the main bathroom where everyone takes showers, we use it frequently. Sometimes we forget about it or leave it on all day because we left for work or school.

The first 2-speed motor that was installed was hot and burned up after 10 minutes, therefore this one was a replacement. Additionally, there wasn't much variation between the low and high speeds in the first one. The replacement motor, which was delivered the following day, worked perfectly. To get the magnet to rotate in the right direction, I had to turn the magnet's motor counterclockwise. Instead of initially pushing air out from the inside, it initially pushed air in from the outside. good discernible speed differences Quite quiet but not silent. I would have given five stars but for the first motor, which was poor. I would repurchase this.
