Are exhaust heat shields necessary?

Does exhaust wrap work as a heat shield?

Exhaust wrap is a common material used to insulate and protect components from heat. It is made from a variety of materials, including ceramic, fiberglass, and aluminum. While exhaust wrap does provide some heat protection, it is not as effective as a true heat shield.

Does heat travel through metal?

Yes, heat travels through metal. Metal is a good conductor of heat, which means it can transfer heat energy from one place to another. This is why metal is often used in cooking, as it can help to evenly distribute heat.

How do I stop my exhaust heat shield from rattling?

If your exhaust heat shield is rattling, there are a few things you can do to try to fix it. First, check to see if the heat shield is loose and needs to be tightened. If the heat shield is loose, you can try to tighten the bolts that hold it in place. If the heat shield is still rattling, you may need to replace it.

Heatshield Products 204002 Black 1/2" ID x 2' Fuel Line Heat Shield Sleeve Review:

I am VERY particular about parts. Giving it five stars denotes that it is a GREAT PRODUCT. On the fuel lines of my 1957 Thunderbird, I had previously used various DEI products. Although they worked well, I was not going to retain them on a show-quality car because of how bad they looked. I'm so happy I came across these.Installing is really simple. Shielding extends to fit over fittings, and shrink wrapping prevents fraying at the ends. Additionally, they are dark, so any dirt will not show (thats a no brainer for putting something under the hood that has the possibility of getting dirty).Last but not least, based on the quotation from Thomas Jefferson on the package, I believe they are a Christian business. Kudos to them for playing the game with no remorse.

JCP Mesh Lined Titanium Turbo Blanket Heat Shield With Stainless Steel Ties (Standard Mesh, LT6ML) Review:

Absolutely perfect for my 2006 E320 CDI I got the t25 size, and even though the turbo had an actuator for the exhaust side, this blanket fit perfectly. I was able to pull it hard up and down hills in California during the summertime when the temperature reached 90 degrees or more.Because of the product's quality and low price, I would give it a rating of six stars.

Deflecto UBGWL-A Universal Bird Guard, Fits 3" to 4" Vents, White (UBGWL) Review:

I purchased this guard to stop birds from building nests inside of my vent located on the 2nd floor. Surprisingly they were able to lift the small plastic covers on the vent itself and climb in to build nests inside. The guard itself was just the right size to fit over the vent. I pre-drilled holes and screwed it into the plastic border around the vent. In terms of design, the guard fit very well and the vent is able to open as it should inside of the guard as their is plenty of space. I was a bit disappointed though that the guard itself did not come with any screws to mount it in place. Luckily I had some screws that were the right size, but I think this should definitely have been something that was included. If you are planning to install the guard, keep in mind that you will need to acquire some screws for mounting. The vent is white but had a few marks on it as their wasn't any real packaging of the guard. In terms of function however, the guard is working great and solved my problem with birds nesting in the vent.

LIBERRWAY Exhaust Wrap Header Wrap Exhaust Heat Wrap Tap Kit for Car Motorcycle, 2 Rolls of 2" x50Ft with 20 Stainless Ties and Gloves Review:

Original Review: When I first received the product, I was quite happy, but as I unraveled the roll, I saw countless examples of poor production and quality control. Before realizing the fraying and faults underneath, I had already cut off a section of the roll; as a result, I am now unable to even return the item.Pictures depict a contrast between the typical and bad regions.UPDATE: Almost almost away after I made my purchase, their customer service got in touch with me and sent me a free second roll. They expressed their regret and made amends right away. The absolute greatest customer service I have ever experienced on Amazon. I am extremely happy with the new roll as it was intended to be and it was precisely as promised. If you are thinking about purchasing this product, I would not hesitate to do so because mistakes do happen. You won't find a better wrap at this pricing point with this level of customer service.

Heatshield Products 204009 Black 5/8" ID x 6' Brake Line Heat Shield Sleeve Review:

worked perfectly. It fit perfectly when I used it over a 5/16" stainless steel fuel line. I had to cut one end of the tubing, install the product, and then re-flare the end because, despite the fact that it expands, it wouldn't expand enough to fit over the 5/16ths flare fittings.Since it travels directly past the exhaust, I used it on a Plymouth Flathead from the fuel pump to the carb. To add even more safety, I also put the following heat reflector over the top of this device.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003HIV3BM/ref=oh aui detailpage o00 s01?ie=UTF8

Deflecto Universal Bird Guard, Fits 3" to 4" Vents, White (UBGWL) Review:

These were effective! I had to shoo birds away from the vent piping in my bathroom. When the original guards broke, I just placed these over them, making installation quite simple. The most difficult aspect was climbing the ladder. They didn't have any hardware, which was a major deal because I had plenty of my own. I'm not sure if they were supposed to.

Dura Flex Ice Scratchers Kit Review:

This design and idea are excellent. Where you need it, they toss a lot of snow and ice chips. With all the snow, they actually reduce noise in the tunnel. I have a 2006 Yamaha RS Venture with 23,700 miles and a 144 inch x 15 inch x 1.5 inch track. The last time I changed my slides is probably long ago. I occasionally used to smell the slides on freshly groomed hardpack trails. With this item, I can go early and take advantage of the flat trails without having to give up my slides or stress about becoming too hot. They are simple to install, and when not in use, mine hang straight up on the rails. As there is no portion of the rail on my Venture that is two inches above the track, I was forced to position them at an angle rather than straight down as the manufacturer suggests. They still function well, and for the mount next year, I'll create a riser. As I'm sure they will function equally well flinging stuff into your track, make sure to keep them up when crossing gravel or dirt roads.

Design Engineering 010384 Mini Versa-Shield 5.25" x 16.5" Starter Heat Shield Wrap Review:

Works fantastically for a product that offers a "instant remedy." The foil is so thin and weak that it starts to fall apart after about a season. You could use your own foil, but that would be cumbersome. Whatever the case, it functions well up until it breaks. I currently have two of these, and I intend to add some of my own foil to give them more life. Velcro is a fairly fantastic invention. I use these during autocross to stop the super-heating of my intake tube going to the throttle body caused by the exhaust manifold
